Hey everyone!
Just wanted to share a quick update on recent changes and the release plan for Monday Syndrome.
The BIGgest news is...
Monday Syndrome is participating in OTK Expo and BIG Summer Showcase!
Don't forget to tune in to OTK Expo on May 25 and to BIG Summer Showcase on Jun 3!
Heres the quick rundown:
- Big systems like inventory and crafting were revamped for more action.
- Monday Syndrome is coming to Early Access. (please read the full post before forming an opinion)
- Full release aimed for end of year.
- Participating in OTK Expo + BIG Summer Showcase!
Changes to the game
Following changes will be reflected on the Steam store page soon.
Since Steam Next Fest, the game has evolved a lot. It's leaning more into its roguelite roots now. I simplified the weapon system by removing inventory menus and focusing on one weapon at a time to keep things fast-paced and fluid (which also meant removing multi-weapon loadouts), and introduced a meta mechanic that makes it easier to experiment with different weapons. Less menu fiddling, more action.
Let's talk crafting. I've seen your feedback, the old system felt too complex and slow for a game where everything else moves fast. So, I threw it out and built something new. Now, you
gamble for affixes. Instead of gambling to apply affixes to a weapon, you now gamble to obtain them in the first place. Didn't get the one you wanted? Try again.
Don't worry. RNG behind it is not that cruel. You wont have to drain your entire retirement fund just to get something useful.
Release Plan
I've been going back and forth between doing a full release or going with Early Access. And to be honest, I've decided to go with Early Access.
Why? Well... [strike]I may have overanalyzed Last Epoch recently...[/strike] Mostly because I believe a full release needs to include all the systems and content I have planned and I'm just not there yet. I still have a ton of ideas in the pipeline. So, to fund the future of Monday Syndrome, Early Access is the path forward.
For Early Access, I've aimed for at least 3 to 4 hours of gameplay. I based this on similar recent Early Access releases I played and that seemed to be the average playtime. The price will reflect that. That's roughly the time it takes to try out two different weapons from start to finish. Each full run currently averages around 1.5 hours, depending on how chaotic things get (and yeah, also your skill).
I know Early Access can sound like a fancy way to say unfinished forever. Some games never get finished. Some devs disappear. And yeah, I'm not a big name. But this isn't a side project or a quick cash grab. Monday Syndrome is like my kid. I've poured my heart into it and I'll keep pouring everything I've got into what I love doing. (Also, my username is tied to my real name on nearly every platform so I can't run away even if I wanted to. Which I don't. Promise.)
Funding's tight right now. dealeruwu But that doesn't mean I'm walking away. It just means development might slow down a bit because I need to find work(which I hope won't be like what I portray in Monday Syndrome). I'll keep sharing progress and you can always reach me on
Discord if you have questions, feedback or just want to chat.
If things go well, I'm aiming for
a full release by the end of the year.
With the Early Access launch, I'll also be sharing a clear roadmap. The first two weeks will focus on rapid bugfixes, requested QoL improvements and quick, high impact content updates. After that, I plan to release monthly or bimonthly updates to keep the game fresh and evolving.
There will also be a beta branch you can opt into if you'd like to check out what I'm working on each week, give feedback early or just peek behind the curtain.
_____________
This isn't meant to be a dramatic post. I am just keeping things real and transparent. I watched Monday Syndrome grow over the last 10 months. It's a chaotic, ridiculous reflection of the office life we all know too well.
Fun fact: I tried to market Monday Syndrome by posting a fake job listing on LinkedIn. It got taken down after an hour but the replies were worth it.
Seems even LinkedIn couldnt handle this much workplace chaos.

If youve ever wanted to smash your office printer or kick a co-worker's butt, Monday Syndromes for you.

Maybe one more, just in case.
As always, thanks for sticking with me through it all.
With much more to come,
