Hi, welcome back to our experimental hidden cat project! Cats Around Us is a series that blends heartwarming silent comics with hidden cat gameplay.
The second installment in the series is called Black Cat.
Created by Apit No Baka, Black Cat is a five-page silent comic that tells the touching story of a man and his elusive black cat who loves hiding in the shadows. Each page is filled with hidden cats waiting to be discovered as you follow the story!

- Touchscreen navigation is now much smoother.\n
- Dedicated jigsaw puzzle rotate button added (right-click for mouse, R1-L1 for Steam Deck/gamepad).\n
- After multiple tests, it turns out my game engine cant detect touch positions on Steam Decks touchscreen, so slide-based features like sliders and drag-and-drop jigsaw puzzles wont work with it. I tested on other touchscreen devices, and they work fine, so this is definitely a limitation of the engine for Steam Deck. Sorry for the inconvenience.. for now, I recommend using a gamepad for drag-and-drop actions. \n

- Weve added a brand-new feature called Rubber Stamp Collection, inspired by Eki stamps often found at Japanese train stations and tourist spots a fun way to collect memories through stamps!
- And a huge thank-you to our amazing community translators! because of your help, the cat descriptions in Cats and Seek: Tokyo are now available in 18 languages! We received over 120 volunteer sign-ups (so sorry we couldnt include everyone XD some languages were completed really fast!)

Cats and Seek: Tokyo marks the end of our Japan trilogy.
Were incredibly grateful we were able to complete it. This whole series is a love letter to our first-ever trip to Japan in 2019. Its been 6 years, but it still feels like yesterday: enjoying takoyaki in Osaka, exploring Kyotos temples, and gazing at the bright LED lights of Tokyo. Fun fact: the cities we visited are in the exact same order as the game releases: Osaka, Kyoto, then Tokyo!

In our past games, some players were wondering, "Why arent the cat descriptions translated?" Well its because there are a lot of them! We didnt have the budget to translate everything properly, and machine translation just made things super weird.
A bunch of you suggested letting the community help, and honestly, thats an awesome idea! So for Cats and Seek: Tokyo, we built a brand-new translation system to make it easier for volunteers to join in.

Time flies and here we are in March 2025! Here's a little update on what's been happening since January.
Cats and Seek: Tokyo
As of today, 4 levels are ready to play! You can explore Asakusa, Akihabara, Ueno Park, and Shibuya. Estu is currently working on the final level, making a total of 5 levels in Cats and Seek: Tokyo. One level will be available for free with all its achievements, while the other 4 will be part of the DLC for those who want extra content. The DLC is available to wishlist now!

Cats and Seek: Toge Land
Back in January, we collaborated with Toge Productions to release Cats and Seek: Toge Land to celebrate their anniversary. We're so happy to see that the game has received 189 reviews so far! Thank you so much to everyone who played and left a reviewPrototype
We also tested an early prototype for another game series we're working on. So far, we've received more than 60 feedback submissions through the survey included in the prototype. We've been sharing sneak peeks of upcoming levels there, and we're so grateful for your support.We also received a suggestion from one of our players about community localization. Currently, all cat descriptions are only available in English because there are so many of them, and professional translation would be too expensive for us. Meanwhile, AI translations often produce weird or awkward phrases.
I'm now looking into ways to set up a community localization system that would be easy for everyone to use. Once I figure it out, I'll share the details on Patreon. And if you're interested in helping, please join us! Our Patreon is free to join .
