Patch 1.0.6 (QOL Feature Update) - New Year, New Patch!

We are pleased to announce the release of our first new patch for GEORGE-YOLKIE for 2025! This patch adds an important quality of life feature, the silhouette of Georgie when he is obscured by level objects and geometry. This is especially useful as a platformer, the game requires precision platforming at times, and depending on the camera view, objects could obscure the player making it difficult to navigate. With this enhancement, the game is much easier to play, camera wise!   • Added Day / Night cycle to Sharkie's Cove.
  • Updated sand around shoreline in Sharkie's Cove.

  • Increased mip map (texture) detail from far distances.
  • Improved rendering quality of models.
  • Fixed Mermaid bust on front of Sharkie's Ship not moving with the ship, causing it to 'float' midair.

Patch 1.0.5 Revision A - Bugfix and minor improvements

We've released an important revision to the 1.0.5 Patch. This patch includes fixes for a potential crash that could occur with game logic, along with perfecting collisions and performance.

  • Fixed null reference exception that could occur in Monty's Jungle.
  • Fixed inaccurate collisions and bounding boxes for some platforming elements

Patch 1.0.5 (Major Release) - Happy Holidays and New Year!

Content Update!
  • Added brand new move! Yolkie Homing- Yolkie when released from the bag will scout the area around Georgie and pick up coins, break stuff and hit enemies from afar! (Press G on keyboard or Y button on controller)
  • Added the new area in Bobbly's Bog - Pea Soup Plaza, a whole new area with platforming required to get the third golden fishy, instead of it being easily obtained from a simple platform making the level otherwise shorter than it needed to be.
  • Added new Rainbow platform area to Sweety's Spaces and moved Fishy to the end of it's road, with more coins and Spacefaring cat UFOS as hazards and a cute piggie character!

  • Added Skull Rock Island to Sharkie's Cove, and Zeusy makes his appearance here! This improves continuity with the world designs across the game.
  • Restored Motion Blur to Georgie's camera which was disabled in the original releases due to a engine bug. This has now been addressed.

Content and Polishing Up Patch (1.0.2) NOW LIVE!

Wow! What a giant patch! This patch polishes off the game and adds new content, graphics, improvements and bug fixes, and stuff that didn't make it into the initial release of the game in time for the holidays, but its all now here in it's glory!


New Graphic Features


  • Added Furry Mode - Enables fur on the characters that have it. It Requires a high end GPU for best performance.
  • Added Raytracing Support - Will run on most modern GPUS but requires 4K for best visual fidelity. We recommend you use a high performance GPU to make it look it's best. Adds some really awesome shadow effects and the detail change is outstanding!
  • Added HDR Display Output - the game will now display colours correctly on HDR Supported displays.

New Content


  • The Isle 'O' Rats is now fully explorable and the barrier has been removed, allowing entry to the rest of the areas there, which include Armo's Arcade, the Mansion of the Mad March Hares (which is now where the Fishy that was once located above a bee hive on the island has now been moved to). Note that you'll need a game completion star on your save before you can enter those new (optional areas)
  • The world, Crocky's Cauldron, has been added to the game. Being the last level now before Rattie's Keep, the entry requirement for the Rattie Boss Battle has been changed from 33 Fishies to 36, with Crocky's Cauldron requiring the former. The final coin count requirement for Rattie's Tower has also been inflated from 5000 to 8000. Shortcut portals to Crocky's Cauldron have been added to the Home Turf, Isle 'O 'Rats and Boris' Badlands.
  • The Instruction Manual is now included in the installation, as it was not included before. It can be accessed from the Technical Support Launch option in Steam or from the game's store page.

  • Fixed minor lighting issues on certain objects in Home Turfs.
  • Fixed minor clipping issues with coins on the ground in Home Turfs.
  • Fixed Georgie's eyes from glowing when inside Rattie's Lair Hub.
  • Fixed bloom bugs on certain areas.
  • Fixed bug with certain objects not rendering correctly.
  • Fixed lighting that was too dark in Gingy's Glacier.
  • Removed invisible collision in Magey's Mountain that was left over from development.
  • Fixed a bug in Sharkie's Cove ocean that would trigger underwater transitions if a enemy or object falls in the water.
  • Fixed missing collisions on trees on starting point in Sharkie's Cove.
  • Fixed missing collisions on rocks around the totem poles in Sharkie's Cove.
  • Fixed aliasing caused by MSAA fallback being downgraded. Default behaviour is now 'upgrade.'
  • Fixed coin next to tree that would respawn in Home Turfs when it's already picked up which was left over from development.
  • Fixed bugged lighting on Isle 'O' Rats.
  • Fixed glitched bee hives obstructing camera on Isle 'O' Rats.
  • Fixed popup indicator not appearing on portal back to the Home Turfs in Isle 'O' Rats.
  • Fixed collectables in Gingy's Glacier slightly clipping into surfaces.
  • Fixed lighting on Christmas Tree from being too dark in Gingy's Glacier.
  • Fixed the Gold Bobbly not displaying on the Pause UI when in the Isle 'O' Rats World.
  • Fixed missing tree trunks on certain GPUS in Magey's Mountain.
  • Fixed deletion bug with certain new game data save creation.
  • Fixed bug which would reset collected coins on certain worlds (count only, not total saved) in the current world when losing a life or getting game over.
  • Fixed giant rock which was slighty offset from ground next to the dinosaur skeleton in Boris' Badlands.
  • Fixed the speech prompt on Sunny in Magey's Mountain from being very off-set from his model.
  • Fixed a game-breaking bug that would reset the amount of coins collected back to 0 when leaving the world and re-entering, requiring the player to surpass the coins collected to a higher new amount in order for them to be saved. They will now be restored when re-entering the level, and new coins collected will add to the combined existing score. This had the potential to cause a softlock as Rattie's tower and other areas require coins to enter.
  • Fixed random null reference exceptions in Sharkie's Cove.
  • Fixed starting area in Rattie's Keep being too dark.
  • Fixed a softlock that could happen on the party scene.

Improvements and Polish


  • Video settings can now be adjusted on the Pause menu while in-game and also from the File Selection screen, which was restricted to the World Select Screen before.
  • Added birds to the sky on the Spacefarer Intro
  • Added Felina skybox in Rattie's Lair.
  • Rattie's Tapestry Banners now use proper cloth physics and animate instead of being static.
  • Ropes hanging from Rattie's Lair Balcony now use physics properly instead of being static.
  • Added flame foes to Boris' Badlands.
  • Added flame foes outside Croccy's Cauldron portal in Home Turf.
  • Added flame foes outside Croccy's Cauldron portal in Isle 'O' Rats.
  • Added coins showing a pathway to the Ice Mountain in Felina Home Turfs.
  • Major improvement to performance for areas with many collectables on screen by using Dynamic Batching.
  • Fixed the heart icon not beating as it was not working properly before, resulting in it being static.

Steam Deck Compatibility

Georgie-Yolkie is compatible with Steam Deck


Read the following below for the results of our testing of the game following the guidelines and structure provided to us by Valve. You can read the guidelines provided here.


Input


  • Controller support: The game supports Steam Deck's physical controls. Players will not need to adjust any settings for them to work.
  • Controller glyphs: When using the Steam Deck, XBOX / Deck glyphs are displayed, which co-ordinate with the exact controls as provided by Steam Deck.

Display


  • Resolution support: The game supports the Steam Deck's native resolution of 1280x720. It will run by default at 1920x1080 with upscaling.
  • Default configuration: The game ships with High configuration for quality setting by default, in which the Steam Deck can run perfectly at 30fps and above.
  • Text legibility: interface text can be easily readable at a distance of 12 inches/30 cm from the screen.

Seamlessness


  • No device compatibility warnings: The game does not present the user with information that the Deck software (ie., specific Linux distribution) or hardware (ie., GPU) is unsupported.
  • Launcher: The game does not include a launcher and therefore does not require mouse or keyboard input or breaking the seamless experience from launching the game via Steam.

Proton Requirements


  • The game is provided as a Windows application that is fully supported through Proton as most Unity games are.
Notice: This is not Valve's official compatibility result for Georgie-Yolkie, but we are confident in our results when running the checks with the guidelines provided. The game in the future will be tested by Valve and these results will be updated accordingly.

Post Release - Polishing Up!

Hey everyone! We'd like to thank you all for your continued support on the release of GEORGIE-YOLKIE since it went GOLD today! Thanks to you all, Spacefarer has come full circle at releasing our best title yet, and what better to feature our beloved Georgie that started it all. The cat-bird duo are also coming to Nintendo Switch (which went gold and approved weeks ago by Nintendo) and other consoles very soon! How purrfect! What's next? Early tester feedback has been amazing, thank you for taking the time to get in touch and sharing both positive and constructive feedback that will allow us to add significant improvements to the game and even add in some of the most requested features. So, coming soon in an update...

  • Mini-games in the world levels that are accessible also from Armo's Arcade (A cute armadillo character that didn't make it into the game in time)
  • The Isle 'O' Rats will be fully explorable, and a preview teaser into what's coming next for Georgie-Yolkie...
