Who is the Outsider?

In Outsider, you'll join my childhood friend Nando in his online encounters with a woman who claims to be an extraterrestrial. This "game" is a faithful recreation of their conversations based on the detailed records he left me before disappearing over a decade ago.
Outsider is a dynamic narrative, choice-rich game where you will play as Nando's "inner voice" in an online chat, helping him navigate the experience of meeting someone claiming to be from an advanced civilization.
Outsider's main play area is a fully-featured simulated chat interface. Your first job will be to help Nando figure out whether "Mara", the alleged extraterrestrial, is who she claims to be. How could an advanced being prove they are from another planet solely through online chat?

The game avoids the all-too-common problem of interrupting conversations with long and indistinguishable options. All choices are supported by emoji "helpers" that indicate the answer's tone and likely impact.
Some choices enable you to skip parts of the story and make progress while not missing anything important. You can spend more time reading about topics that interest you and fine-tuning the story's pace without affecting the game's endings. A plethora of reading options, such as multiple fonts (including a special Dyslexia-friendly font), adjustable text speed and fast-forward help you explore all branches without getting bogged down by content you've already read.

Nando eventually starts having unexplained dreams. Are they telling him anything? Crack a unique metapuzzle and help him peel hidden layers from the narrative. If you can't solve it, you can still reach many endings... But special rewards await expert puzzle hunters!
Game Features
A dynamic hand-crafted narrative where decisions matter: In Outsider, individual choices always affect the story but will only change Nando's fate in aggregate. Don't sweat missing one of the many endings because of a single unexpectedly important choice.
Over 100K words and dozens of decisions: the game has more paths than atoms in the Universe. Nonetheless, you can still explore all of them with a few playthroughs.
No "bad" or "gotcha" endings: there will always be something to learn from the experience - no matter what you decide.
Detailed depiction of Alien technology: Nando's contact story taught him the answers to some of our most important and oldest questions. Outsider's alien technology is equally credible and extraordinary.
A tough, optional overarching puzzle: a mystery that will keep puzzle lovers on their toes while allowing everybody else to experience many game endings.
Multiple locations around the world: Nando traveled all over the world for work and leisure. Follow him to the United States, Brazil, China and more, where he meets friends while hiding his online life with the mysterious woman.
Comprehensive reader features include fast forward, inline history scrolling, advance-on-click, keyboard-only operation and much more.
Accessibility options allow you to heavily customize your experience with different fonts, including a Dyslexia-friendly one, text speeds and font sizes.
Outsider is finally available to the world! This is the 1.0.1 release that contains fixes and improvements based on playtester feedback and final test pass. Most changes are in the story and mechanics after the first demo chapters, but it also contains the following changes that affects the demo:\n
- Mute settings are now persisted across chapters.\n- Fixes issues with the \"boss\" screen muting state.\n- Better controller and keyboard support: that you can mute the game and trigger the boss screen without touching the mouse (you never know when your boss will show up!)\n- Fixes a serious crash when clicking on the main menu while it was still fading in.\n- New Options menu theming (the game had used the default Godot theme until recently).
The Outsider Soundtrack is also available! The ENTIRE soundtrack is released under CC-BY, including the songs created exclusively for the game, so you can use them, including in your videos and games, as long as you comply with the Creative Commons licensing terms. You actually don\'t need to purchase it to be able to use the files (one person could buy it and distribute them to the entire world for free under the license terms), but buying the soundtrack is a great way to support Galantrix and Outsider.
Dear players, I hope you like this game! I\'ll be actively monitoring our forums for issues and will try to fix them promptly - including typos!
HAVE FUN!\nDaniel.
