The game takes place in a place called Frostmourn Keep and its underlying dungeons located in the World's End Mountains. The goal is to overthrow the current king of the Frostmourn Keep and become the new king.
- Classless character building where you can be the kind of rogue you want.
- Seemingly unfair, untimely and unforgiving deaths which are also permanent.
- Ways to counter these deaths by learning the game mechanics.
- Random dungeons and encounters.
- 24 talents to build your character with.
- 30 spells to build your character even further.
- 60 heritages that make your next character stronger.
- 30 challenges to complete once you get the hang of the game.
Here\'s the full list of changes:
- Spirit staves were removed from NPCs and they received a small buff.
- Added a default resolution for systems don\'t report any resolutions.
- Added clarifications of requirements to a few old heritages.
- Fixed a bug that allowed the player to retry first guild jobs.
- Fixed a bug where multi-attacks could result in extra trophies.
- Fixed a bug in the hard mode card game and made it harder.
Caretaker, Dreamweaver and Necromancer had their spirit staves removed and they got replaced with fine staves. Apparently there was some tasty copy-pasta at some point that gave them those. All (new copies of) spirit staves teach Sacrificial Circle and Ritual Sacrifice spells and they also count as having Amulet of Sacrifice when equipped. This means that once you have unlocked one of the spirit staves, you will only need an Engraved Pyramidion and a trip to the hideout to do some sacrificial magic. None of this is mentioned anywhere in the game and you have to read these patch notes to know that this is now possible.
Some MacBook Pros do not correctly report their available resolutions that caused the game to crash on startup. The game now attempts to open itself in a small window and avoid crashing if the system does not report any available resolutions. If this works the way I think it does, then it means that affected players will have to manually force the resolution in settings.xml as there won\'t be any available resolutions in the settings menu (see 2.29 patch notes about custom resolutions).
Spaulder, Vambrace, Glove and Boot Collector heritages now mention that they do not count certain crafted items (meaning that the player needs to find normal versions of them instead). There was a bug that allowed players to start the first job for each guild after being kicked out from one. This should no longer be possible.
There was no check to see if the target was already dead when fighter trophies were handed out and that made it possible to get more than one trophy hand when using attacks that cause multiple hits. This also made it possible to fail Master of Arms and cause some other issues so it had to be fixed.
There was a bug in the hard mode card game that resulted in the final battle appearing sooner than it should have and not triggering the heritage. While fixing that, I figured that if someone can beat the hard mode then it needs to be harder and now all enemies also have an extra life (this is indicated by a soul gem on the enemy health bars). When an enemy with a soul gem dies, it gains full health and becomes dazed for 1+ turns. The number of turns it is dazed depends on the amount of negative health it has after an attack, i.e. 0,-1,-2 = 1 daze, -3,-4,-5 = 2 dazes etc.
