Patch v1.0.5

Hey folks! A new patch is here! We've noticed that players often move directly from core levels to the bonus levels of a specific world, which can lead to a significant increase in difficulty. We've tweaked the flow so that the game encourages you to play through all the core levels first and then head back to the bonus levels. We've also locked off the bonus levels till you have completed all 10 core levels for that respective world. Selecting Streamer Mode was causing a couple of issues with certain songs. This has now been fixed, and all tracks safe for streaming mode will play correctly!

  • Fixed an issue where, sometimes, certain streaming-safe tracks would always be skipped during streamer mode.
  • Bonus levels are now only playable after completing all core levels in their respective world.
  • Improved loading times when scrolling through locked levels during level selection.
  • Updated credits to include the contributor for Japanese localization.
Thank you, as always, for your reports and feedback! xoxo

Patch v1.0.4

Hello folks! Let us cure your Monday blues with a brand new update! If you have not yet done so - please consider leaving a review on the Axyz Steam Page. We're incredibly close to the magical 50, which would help massively with getting on the good side of Steam's algorithm and exposing the game to potential new players - so don't delay! Patch v1.0.4

  • Japanese localization added
  • Resized certain UI elements
  • Added visual effect to springs for easier identification while rolling around blocks
  • Fixed an issue where rewinding through a spring could sometimes cause the rewind to continue for longer than expected
  • Fixed an issue on levels 35 and 47 where the high score was not displayed correctly in the main menu

Patch v1.0.3

Hello folks! Two posts in one day? We promise not to make a habit out of it. Firstly, we just want to give a massive thank you to everyone who has purchased, played or reviewed the game since Thursday. We are so incredibly grateful for the support, streams and feedback we've recieved since then. As you can understand, we took a few days to recharge but we've been paying close attention to feedback and reports, and while we don't have a lot of changes to report right now - we'll be looking at ways to improve the experience for players. You're also likely wondering what happened to patches 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 - They happened as the game went live and were for relatively minor changes - so it wouldn't have made sense to post immediately after announcing the game's release, but to make sure you're up to speed we've included them below! Patch v1.0.1

  • Fixed jumping into two spikes and rewinding would remove two rewinds instead of one
Patch v1.0.2
  • Irish language support added
  • Fixed an issue with window mode dropdown not closing correctly
Patch v1.0.3
  • Fixed a minor French localization issue
  • Changed the Irish language dropdown option from 'Gaelige' to 'Irish'
  • Removed unintended tapes from bonus level 3A
  • Changed main menu computer desktop background
  • Fixed an issue where jumping on multiple springs in a row could sometimes cause the ball to move less distance than intended
Please consider joining our Discord to provide feedback, chat with other Axyz fans and to send across any bug reports!

Steam Deck Update

Hey folks! Just want to give a quick note about Axyz on Steam Deck. We made an original post about this here a few weeks ago but there's been some updates since then. We've managed to fix the outlying issues we had, which means the following: - The game recognises you're playing on Steam Deck and will lock the resolution to 1280x720 - Menu navigation is fully working with Dpad The only thing that you might notice is the game will use XBox controller glyphs instead of the Steam Deck glyphs. We'll likely figure that out at some point but it should not make any difference to your experience with the game. We've also yet to configure Steam Cloud saving but we're hoping to get that added in soon. We'd love to get the game Steam Deck verified but we currently can't do much till Valve takes notice of us *waves hands furiously in the air*

Demo Update 0.0.7v

Another day, another patch! We've added a Vsync toggle and the ability to lock the frame rate at 60. We've also made a couple of small visual adjustments to improve the clarity of barriers and when you collect tapes.

  • Added frame rate limit and Vsync options to the settings menu.
  • Adjusted music volume for a more consistent audio experience across tracks.
  • Uncollected tapes now appear more transparent to better distinguish them from collected ones.
  • Brightened barrier material for improved visibility.
We're also excited to announce that speedrun data for auto-splitter support has been implemented and that Nikoheart, a member of the speedrunning community, will be uploading a Livesplitter for the Axyz demo soon!

Steam Next Fest is here!

As you have likely noticed, Steam Next Fest is here -- and Axyz is a part of this wonderful occasion! We put out a patch earlier today that cleaned up a few minor issues and included French & German support, so there's never been a better time to download the demo and play Axyz! For you Steam Deck the users out there, the game is fully playable - but there is a minor resolution issue we're still trying to iron out. However, the game still plays great on the deck and is just as viable an option to try the demo out. We really want to hear from anyone who's played during the event, so please be sure to tag us if you're on BlueSky or Instagram. STREAMERS -- Axyz has a category on Twitch and YouTube, so be sure to assign Axyz so we can find it and watch! Please also consider joining our Discord to provide feedback, bug reports - and maybe get a sneak peak at new worlds before anyone else??? Thank you for all your support and wishlists! Have a wonderful Next Fest xoxo

Demo Update 0.0.6v

Hello and happy Steam Next Fest day! In celebration of this momentous occasion we came with another patch! steamhappy Some of the things added are futureproofing for updates in the future i.e more language support, but we are happy to say the game now has full support for both German and French speakers. We've greatly improved the smoothness of camera movement. You should notice this when jumping or gravity switching. We've also fixed a few minor visual issues for good measure.

  • Updated UI in preparation for additional languages
  • Updated fonts in preparation for additional languages
  • Added French and German language support
  • Added a word missing in the movement tutorial
  • Added automatic scrolling to dropdown elements in the settings menu
  • Improved smoothness when jumping/falling below your current horizontal position
  • Coins and gems no longer respawn in a level after being collected when transitioning to the victory screen
  • Fixed an issue that caused certain song names to not scroll correctly in the HUD
You can send additional reports through Steam or on our Discord! (also please ignore we skipped 0.0.5v)

Demo Update 0.0.4

Hey folks, we're back with another update *so soon you say?* This is a slightly bigger update, with some work under the hood done to implement stuff in a future patch. The biggest change you should notice is the initial launch load time. We've reduced it from around 45 seconds to 3.... which is quite good. Also, we now have Steam Achievements specific to the demo!

  • Exiting a level now takes you to the level section screen
  • Added steam achievements for the demo
  • Greatly improved the app's initial loading time
  • Locked frame rate to 60 fps
  • Changed bonus level ID naming convention
  • Fixed an issue where inputs would show as text instead of the input device icon when an input device gets disconnected and then reconnected
  • Fixed an issue where changing levels in the level select in rapid succession could cause multiple levels to be loaded at the same time
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain situations, the rewinding animation would play indefinitely and wouldn't send you back to the last safe block
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain situations, high scores wouldn't update after they were recorded for the first time
You can send additional reports through Steam or on our Discord

Axyz on Steam Deck

Hey folks! So Steam asks for some sort of post about a game's Steam Deck compatibilty and to link it - so here we are!
Axyz running on Steam Deck! Now, with this said, there are two issues we are currently aware of:

  • Menu navigation doesn't respond to the Dpad (but the Dpad works fine in-game)
  • There's a tiny bit of cut off on the sides of the screen due to Steam Deck's 1280x800 resolution and Unity deciding it doesn't want to play ball.
We're actively trying to figure out these minor issues, but otherwise the game works absolutely fine and you can download the game and play on your Deck today!

Demo Update 0.0.3

Hey folks! Our first demo update is live (technically it's the 2nd but shhh)

  • Fixed an issue that caused controller and keybord bindings to show as text instead of the icon when using non-english keyboard layouts
  • Fix to an issue where navigating to additional levels was possible after a level was selected and started loading
  • Fix to an issue where level select navigation buttons would show as text instead of the icon when switching control schemes
We've also found a few other bugs from the weekend so we're working to have another update before Next Fest. Thank you for the reports provided so far! Please consider joining the Discord to let us know of anything else you find: https://discord.gg/AGJ97FRX

Final update for the year!

Hey folks! As we begin to wrap up for the year I just want to take a moment to reflect on what a crazy past 12 months it has been. Since January 1st we've showcased in 4 countries at 11 events, had hundreds, probably thousands of players spend time playing Axyz, talk to us, give us feedback, and some of you were even kind enough to wishlist the game. Outside of making the game, this has easily been my most favourite part of the whole experience and I just want to say thank you for making this the most fun year I've had on a professional level. We're now entering the busiest part of the development window as we try to get this thing out the door, and we've been fortunate enough to bring on some incredibly talented people to help us get across the finishing line. They've already made some noticible differences and I cannot wait to see how the game evolves between now and release day. We're edging closer towards a personal goal of reaching 1K wishlists, so if you know anyone who would be interested in puzzlegames, vaporwave or PSX era vibes - be sure to send them on a link to the steam page! For now, have a very merry christmas and happy new year. We'll see you in 2025. ciao. Mark xxx

The Game Awards For Games Who Can't Afford the Game Awards 2024

We'd like to thank the event organisers for including us.

We set a target when developeted started of hitting 1k wishlists before launch, and we're on target as we hit 700 wishlists yesterday. A massive thank you to everyone who has wishlisted the game! If you know anyone who likes puzzle games, vaporwave or Kula World - be sure to let them know and get a wishlist going! Every last one helps us massively.

Game Developers Session (GDS) 2024

Space Lion Studios heads to mainland Europe for the first time!

Hey everyone! Apologies for the radio silence on here since the Summer. We've been working non-stop on Axyz over the last couple of months and it's kinda crazy how much the game has evolved since we last spoke. This has taken up the bulk of our time and it means stuff like communication has fallen by the wayside. However going forward we'll plan to get an update across every week or so. We've got a fair few things to talk about, but we'll separate these over the following weeks so you have plenty of time to process each announcement! For this week, as you can probably tell by the title - we're heading to Prague! Next week is the Game Developers Session Prague and Axyz will be available to play on the showcase floor across the 13th and 14th December. It's our first time showcasing Axyz in mainland Europe and we cannot wait to present the game to a whole new audience. If you're attending please feel free to stop by and say hello!

BlueSky

One other quick announcement for now - we decided to bin Twitter because let's be honest it's quite awful over there. While we haven't set up a studio account on BlueSky, Mark (lead design) is on the platform and posting bits and pieces about Axyz (along with anything else on his mind) so feel free to give him a follow and see sneaky new clips of the game here! And finally, a massive thank you for wishlisting Axyz and supporting us! Till next time xoxo
