You play as a young girl Sakura who wishes to travel the land of Concordia and become a master angler! Along the way she meets up with a Seafarer named Kiara and the two traverse several ocean biomes, finding and catching new types of fish and other marine life along the way.
The land of Concordia, named after the Goddess Concordia, Mother of Sea and Star, is a vast series of small islands and land masses populated by humans, Seafarers, and various marine animals. The humans usually dwell more inland, while the non-human Seafarers make their settlements by the seashore. Seafarers have distinctive features such as long ears that help with sea navigation, and horns which act as beacons to communicate with the divines. Though similar in nature, Seafarers tend to stay away from human territories, much more preferring to stick as close to the sea as possible.
There is a darkness looming far beneath the sea referred to as "The Deep" by Seafarers. The Deep are a mutated, twisted, mangled race of Eldritch fish that rise from the abyss and cause havoc across the land. This abyssal power even can contaminate and corrupt regular marine life, turning them too, into abhorrent creatures. Every 500 years, a special person is chosen by the divines to become the Mystic Angler and uses the powers of the Oceanic Elements– Tide, Abyss, and Star– to cull the abyssal threat. However, it's been 502 years since the last Mystic and the land is once again falling to ruin without a new hero. Can Sakura and Kiara step up to the plate to rid the deep in place of the Mystic Angler?
In a fishable body of water, drop your line, and wait for a snag! If you're lucky and snag a fish, you'll have to reel it in with a timing-based minigame. Succeed, and the fish will become aggressive, attacking you directly, so be ready for a fight! Use Fishing Rods, Fishing Spears, Spearguns, and even Fish Hooks as weapons to reel and wrangled in your catch!
These aren't your average everyday fish ether, most of these marine and freshwater animals will come packed with skills of their own, even able to use Oceanic Elements in their favor!
Make sure you're fully equipped before dropping your line into these dangerous waters!

Deftly skilled with a fishing spear, Kiara is apart of the Seafaring Tribe. A race of non-humans who have a natural strong connection to the sea and Oceanic Elements. Unable to sit still for even a moment, this whirlwind of a girl has a heart of gold and only wishes to support her friends and family anyway she can. With her natural sense of the elements, she helps Sakura blossom her voyage into something much more grand.
A mysterious boy who lives in the ruins off the coast of the sea. He says he is investigating the many Seaside Ruins across Concordia, searching for answers about The Deep. His past years of research brings him ever closer to unlocking the mysteries of the mutated fish and their origins. Though he shares the same goal as the protagonists, can he be trusted?
Known as the Goddess Born From the Sea, Lapis is known far and wide across Concordia as a saint, due to her benevolence and tender-heartedness. Lapis, unlike her older sister, loves everything about the mortal realm. When not locked away in the Seascape Palace, she often spends her time people-watching, observing their daily lives. When Seafarers pray to the divines, Lapis is the one who answers.
Known as the Goddess Born From the Stars, Lazuli is much unlike her sister. Her disdain for humans and short temper have earned her a reputation of being fear by most mortals. Wielding a massive fish hook as her weapon of choice, she spends most her days at the bottom of the ocean, driving back The Deep. Despite her cold demeanor, there's nothing she loves more in the world than her young sister.

Sakura has a strong will and the perseverance to overcome any obstacle. Her dream to become a master angler, like her father, and travel the world, like her mother. Though her bond with her father is very strong as he raised her, the circumstances around her mother and bit more obfuscated. There's an uneasy tension in the air whenever her mother is mentioned. Nevertheless, when she puts her trust and faith into her partner Kiara, there's nothing they can't accomplish!

Kiara is a chaotic storm with a heart of gold. She's constantly all over the place and more than handful when it comes to keeping her still. On top of this, she never misses a chance to speak her mind, though it sometimes comes out a little blunt. Though when paired with Sakura, Kiara manages to contain herself more and follow lead. Kiara also seems to have somewhat of a crush on Sakura after being promised travelling the world together. Out of the multitude of things this girl never stops talking about, this is one situation where she is quietly reserved. You'll never meet a more trustworthy and dependable friend than her.

Along with around 10+ fishing biomes, side quests, and special heart-to-heart events, the full game will have lots of fun content to interact with!

Hello everybody, my name is Xinitii.
I'm a sci-fi/ fantasy author that's always loved video games ever since I was a kid. After years of attempts and learning, I've finally decided to really put my all into making my first ever video game! I've been working on this project non stop for the past few months now. It's been a very fun and rewarding experience and I'm so glad to be able to finally talk about it.
Mystic Fishing is a fantasy fishing RPG inspired by games such as River King: Mystic Valley, Dredge, and Deep Horrors of Fishing. It is a story driven game with Lovecraftian elements mixed in. There's lots of good character dialogue and fun moments too! The writing style for a few random events scattered throughout are inspired by Etrian Odyssey, one of my favorite game series of all time.
I'm am hard at working implementing all my ideas and digitally drawing each and every fish in this game. Right now I have about 10 diverse biomes planned with around 5-10 fish per area. Please stay tuned for more updates in the future as I flesh out more of this game!
