Inspired by Factorio and Rimworld, Stardeus is a deep colony sim set on a broken starship manned by drones and hibernating human survivors. As the immortal AI you will have your drones repair your starship, save or exploit your human crew and travel the stars in this beautifully complex simulation of a procedurally generated universe.
With only a handful of drones at your disposal, salvage, repair and rebuild your destroyed ship and restore life support before the crew suffocates in the vacuum of space.
Design and rebuild your ship according to your own needs and desires. Balance the onboard systems of oxygen, heat and power to ensure long-term survival.
Process resources into useful components to maintain and expand your ship’s facilities. Grow crops and turn the harvest into food for your awakening colonists. Generate energy to power your ship and create a robust interconnected system.
Use and expand your massive computing power to research alien technologies. Discover new ways to survive the harsh universe and take care of or exploit your human crew.
Once powered and crewed by skilled colonists, take your ship on an odyssey to explore and mine the procedurally generated planets and systems of a vast universe.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Live through an endless number of events and encounters introduced by the story-generating AI. Be it alien face huggers, benevolent traders or pirates: always be vigilant and deal with whatever happens the way you chose.
As you might or might not know - we\'re reworking the UI. \n\nYou probably have a lot of questions... So did I... however, I got the chance to sit down with spajus and ask him some questions about this so called \"UI overhaul\".\n\nHere are the most pressing questions & answers.\n\n
UI REWORK WORK IN PROGRESS MAY SUBJECT TO CHANGE\n\n
How long it will take to rework the UI? (I heard half a year, maybe more?)
\nIt\'s difficult to estimate, but I hope to be finished before GTA6 comes out. The new UI is bundled along with another major feature - random quests that NPCs will give you. That feature is also not fully finished yet, which will prolong the time till next update. But don\'t worry, I will surely be done before 2047.\n\nHow big is this rework?
\n\"I\'m throwing away everything that was the old UI and replacing it with a brand new one. It\'s a complete overhaul from scratch. So, in other words: as big as it can be.\"\n\nWhat you want from the community?
\n\"At the current state, I only want patience. It will be a long quiet period without major updates, I hope people won\'t think the game is dead or forget about it.\"\n\nAre you really just one man?
\n\"The UI rework is a team effort, an industry professional designed the UI. I\'m just a code monkey who executes the ideas. But I\'m also the bottleneck, that why updates take so long. Perhaps if we sold more copies, I could get more people to work on the game? ;^)\"\n\nCan I test the new UI?
\n\"At this stage it\'s a bit too early to give everyone access to the build to try it out, so feedback on a broken and very unfinished thing won\'t be useful. People will just point out that it\'s broken, which isn\'t really helpful. We will be getting into a feedback phase a bit later, when the game is playable with the new UI again.\"\n\n
UI REWORK WORK IN PROGRESS MAY SUBJECT TO CHANGE\n\nWhy rework the UI?
\n\"UI is the most common complaint in Steam reviews. Poor UI also drives away many new players, who try the game, feel intimidated by spreadsheets in space, and then never return. The old UI was designed for my convenience as a developer: it let me iterate quickly and add new panels easily. The new UI was designed by a professional UI/UX designer, and it is built for the player, not for my own convenience.\"\n\nWill there be any other updates in the meanwhile?
\n\"It\'s extremely difficult to maintain two increasingly diverging codebases, so only occasional bugfixes and balance adjustments are going to be done until the new UI is ready.\"\n\nWhat are you most excited about reworking in the UI?
\n\"Is a great opportunity to rewrite some of the older parts of the game code that I didn\'t get to touch for years. I\'ll be able to undo all the wrong decisions I made when making the original UI.\" \n\nHow does it feel to see the UI you worked on for so long get reworked?
\n\"The new UI feels so much better, that I have zero regrets about ripping the old one out without a trace. The time it will take to complete the rewrite, however, makes me feel a bit anxious.\"\n\n
UI REWORK WORK IN PROGRESS MAY SUBJECT TO CHANGE\n\nWhen are hats coming to pets?
\n\"This should be a mod. Any takers?\"\n\nHave you been playing any good games lately?
\n\"It\'s a shame to admit it, but I haven\'t been playing anything at all lately. I\'m fully consumed with development of Stardeus, and after a long day of work I usually don\'t feel like gaming. Although I did try the new Songs of Syx update, it was fun, but I only had enough time to scratch the surface.\"\n\nWhat\'s a good movie to watch while I wait?
\n\"They don\'t make movies like they used to... Last one that comes to mind was Interstellar, which came out 11 years ago.\"\nEditors note: I watched district9 the other day and it was great, highly recommended.\n\nDo we need to be scared?
\n\"No, everything is going to be all right.\"\n\nThat should cover about everything... Stay tuned and have patience while we wait for spajus to create magic.\n\n//Lizz the Community Manager\n\nFollow the Development
