Bru & Boegie: Episode 1 - Get da MILK!
A hand-drawn 2D surrealist comedy point-and-click adventure game.
You are Bru.
You need milk for your coffee.
YOH. The stakes are hectic.

Slip into the underpants of Bru, a strange stoic man-child on a mission: get milk for da coffee. Point and click your way through a fully hand-drawn and animated world, featuring a fully-voiced cast and an original soundtrack.
Inspired by classic point-and-click adventures like Sam & Max: Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle, this puzzle adventure serves up a healthy dose of ridiculousness that you can complete in a single sitting.
This is the first episode in what I hope will be a trilogy of Bru & Boegie games.

One-Button Gameplay: So intuitive, even an Ouma can master it!
Interactions deluxe: More unique interactions than you can shake a stick at.
Rarefied Humour: Enjoy bizarre characters, non sequiturs and irreverent small-batch bespoke conspiracy theories.
Original Hand-Drawn Art & Animation: Made by human hands - nice.
Fully-Human Voiced Cast: Almost 1,000 dialogue entries, all fully-voiced by real people.
Original Music Score: Catchy tunes to make you feel kiff.
Mini-Games! Stop the intrusive thoughts from infiltrating your mind in 'Meditation HERO', and collect all 15 stickers scattered around the world to unlock a surprise!
You Can’t Die: Low stress, plenty lols.

Mouse:
Left-click: Interact / Use
Right-click: Examine
Keyboard (Optional):
Esc: Pause / Options to access Save & Load and Audio Options
F: Flash Hotspots
D: Dab (after you learn it)
Tab: Skip Cutscene (*may cause issues)
1-9: Dialogue Options

Click on everything you can! If you don't know what's important to click on, click the lightbulb icon in your inventory at the top to 'Flash Hotspots'.
Characters often provide helpful hints in their dialogue.
Right-click is to Examine objects. Not entirely necessary but is good for bonus lols, or for more information on an object.
Some things can be interacted with multiple times to get multiple responses.
In one case, 2 inventory items need to be combined.

🦴 How do I get Doggie Poggie off the map?
Doggie Poggie won’t budge without the right motivation. Have you checked behind the bathroom door? Maybe there’s something there that he might like? Maybe you could put it in his bowl?
🚲 How do I disable the tricycle alarm?
Boegie mentioned hearing the tricycle immobilizer around the couch. If only there was a way to lift that couch… found anything that could help?
🔧 How do I get the tricycle clamp off?
You’ll have to pry it loose. Check inside the fridge - there might be something there that could do the trick.
🏎️ What does Mr. Bergie want?
Mr. Bergie’s on the hunt for something (or someone) to lift his precious Lamborghini. Remember what you used to lift the couch earlier? Maybe that could help him out?
💳 What do I do with Mr. Bergie’s card?
Mr. Bergie handed you his business card for anyone looking for work. Chatted to anyone in the Shoppie that mentioning they need a job?
🤝 What do I do with Jackson?
Mr. Bergie said a regular jack wasn’t good enough - he’s after something more unique. JACKson mentioned he’s job hunting. Sounds like these two should meet.
🥛 How do I pay for the milk?
Birdie at the Shoppie won’t accept anything but cash. Lucky for you, her eyesight isn’t great. She did say you should "draw" some money.
🥛 Okay seriously, how do I pay for the milk?!
Found anything in Bru & Boegie’s bathroom that looks like paper? You’ll also need something to draw on it - Mr. Bergie might help with that after you introduce him to Jackson and he gives you something in return.

I recommend trying to figure out the solutions yourself, exploring the world and interacting with its characters is half the fun! But if you’re stuck, there's no shame in using a walkthrough:
Wake up Bru by clicking on him. Do the tutorial if you like. Head to the bathroom and grab the toilet paper and jack. Close the bathroom door from inside the bathroom to find and collect the bone. Back in the lounge, grab the crowbar from the fridge. Put the bone into Doggie Poggie’s bowl to distract him and nab the map.
Use the jack to lift the couch and grab the tricycle immobilizer underneath - don’t forget to pick up the jack again, you'll need it later! Head outside, use the immobilizer with the tricycle, and pry the wheel clamp off with the crowbar. Hop on the tricycle and cycle to the Shoppie.
Give Mr. Bergie the jack to get his business card. Head inside and give the card to Jackson, then give Jackson to Mr. Bergie. In return, Mr. Bergie will give you a gold pen. Combine the pen with the toilet paper to forge some dodgy cash.
Give the “cash” to Birdie at the counter to get the milk. Leave the Shoppie to trigger the ending cutscene.
Coffee time... but not for long ☕

- I made this to scratch an itch I've had for years of wanting to make a point-and-click adventure game, as well as to learn Unity. It’s also my first substantial release as an indie game dev, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it! 🙏
- I have a further 2 episodes scamped out, and would love to create a trilogy of Bru & Boegie games.
- Are you a gamer, YouTuber, streamer, or journalist? I'd be thrilled if you'd like to cover the game! You can download the Press & Media Kit below, which includes a one-page info sheet, game design document, title screen elements, logos, character sprites, collectable stickers, the video trailer, theme song, screenshots, and GIFs.
- If you'd like to see the game translated into other languages, please let me know.
- I stretched a modest 1-month game development grant of R15k (about $820) over 4.5 months of full-time work, using the majority of it to pull favours from friends who contributed script passes, voices, music and sfx to the project (thank you kind friends). ❤️
- You can listen to the original soundtrack below!
- 'Meditation HERO' MiniGame:
Stop the intrusive thoughts from penetrating your mind by clicking them to dissolve them. The thoughts get faster over time! Try to last as long as you can to get a good grade. Last 50 seconds to earn an A, 55 seconds to earn an A+, and 60 seconds to earn the elusive S-tier.

I can SMELL da MILK
The game is imminently launching next week Wednesday! I can hardly believe the time has almost arrived to unleash these 2 underpanted bald children onto an unsuspecting public. It\'s been a rewarding journey of learning to get to this point, and I\'m thrilled that it\'s almost over the finish line and into an audience\'s mouse-clicking paws.
Bru & Boegie: Episode 1 Steam NextFest Summary
Steam NextFest recently ended, and Bru & Boegie: Episode 1 - Get da MILK! took part in it. The game performed well; it got a bunch of new wishlists and new eyes on the game, and it\'s somehow broken into the SteamDB charts with its wishlist activity. I discovered a service called RoboStreamer that let me stream a looping broadcast of playthrough videos that myself and 3 others (with their permission) had made, to the game\'s page for a couple of days during NextFest, which was cool.

Disabling the Episode 1 Demo
I\'ve decided to disable the Episode 1 Demo on the 28th Oct - the day before launch. I may bring it back for special occasions, but for the foreseeable future it\'ll be disabled, and the Steam version will be the only way to play the full game.
Spanish? S!
A fantastic individual who found my game on Reddit kindly offered to do a full Spanish translation of the game, and lo - she did! Now the game (from v1.25, the version that will be available at launch) is translated into both Chinese AND Spanish, hopefully broadening the reach of the game. Very cool! Thank you to Cristina Castany, I\'m super grateful that she reached out.

In other news
Bru & Boegie: Episode 2 - Get da SUGAR! is coming along well. It\'s been taking up the lion\'s share of my time. I\'ve done quite a bit of front-loading / vertical progress, testing and figuring out new systems, and had enough in place recently to start making some good horizontal progress as I move towards building out an entertaining internal and then public demo for the game. My buddy Sheldon Bengtson did a fantastic punch-up pass on the script.

Friends, this Episode 1 launch is a prescient moment for both myself and Bru & Boegie. Bru & Boegie is a project I started over 20 years ago - we\'ve been through ups and downs, they\'ve appeared in various comic books and animated shorts, and a broadcast company with a mouse as a mascot once briefly had rights to Bru & Boegie for an animated show (that did not work out well). This is the first time I\'m launching a project on Steam, and I\'m beyond thrilled it\'s Bru & Boegie\'s own videogame! Please enjoy this moment with me.
To celebrate the lead-up to the launch, I made a long video update about ALL things Bru & Boegie, linked below for your viewing and listening pleasure: [dynamiclink href=\"https://youtu.be/bQGmniR2Oj4\"][/dynamiclink]
