We're Part of Steam Next Fest - And Our Demo Is Live Early!

We're excited to announce that we're officially part of Steam Next Fest!
To celebrate, we're launching our brand-new demo early starting today! You can jump in right now, well ahead of Next Fest's official start on June 9th, and enjoy the experience throughout the event. The demo will remain available until June 30th, giving everyone plenty of time to dive in.

Whats New in the Demo?


Weve overhauled nearly every aspect of the game based on your feedback. Here are just a few of the major updates: Visual Overhaul: New art for environments, interiors, items, and more All-New Level Design: Every level rebuilt from scratch with improved depth and detail Lighting & Atmosphere: Full day/night cycle, environmental lights, and a personal flashlight Enhanced Audio: Positional sound for added immersion and spatial awareness Updated Content: New and refined weapons, gear and artifacts with improved visuals, effects, and balance UI/UX Upgrades: Access key remapping and gamepad controls mid-run Refined Mechanics: Improved shooting and overall gameplay feel While our Next Fest demo is live, we'll be collecting more player feedback via our feedback form which can be accessed in-game, on Discord, and in our Steam forum. Demo - Minor Update

Following the release of our new demo, were happy to bring you the first round of bug fixes! Weve also added an in-game Feedback button, accessible from the pause menu, to gather your thoughts on the demo experience with a short survey. Your feedback is essential in helping us shape the future of Zombiehood, and we're listening closely to every suggestion.

General:


  • Added Feedback and Discord buttons to the pause and demo ending screens.
  • Refreshed visuals for the Steam and Discord buttons on the main menu for a cleaner look.

Game Balance:


  • Reduced the shop prices of Big Iron, Dual Big Iron, Shotgun, Single Shotgun, SMG, Dual SMG, Burst Pistol, Dual Burst Pistol, and Assault Rifle to make them more accessible.

Bug Fixes:


  • Resolved rare cases where waves could get stuck if zombies were defeated too quickly during the boss event.
  • Dual Big Irons: PIcking up a second Big Iron while having one equipped, now correctly grants Dual Big Irons, consistent with other dual-wielded weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where zombie waves would continue spawning after completing the demo, potentially affecting performance on the event end screen.
  • Scrapping weapons and equipment now correctly reflects your money modifier skill in the salvage price indicator, giving an accurate preview of returns.
  • Corrected turret behavior to shoot standard projectiles as intended, rather than explosive rounds which didn't collide with zombies.
  • Fixed loot crates occasionally dropping incorrect ammo types.
  • Resolved cases where the second arm in dual-wielded weapons could appear in front of the characters head.
  • Fixed the final quest not marking as completed upon finishing the demo.

New demo out now for Steam Scream Fest

New Features User Interface: We've completely redesigned the UI for both visual clarity and functionality, smoothing out many rough edges and delivering numerous quality-of-life improvements. Menu navigation should now feel more consistent, with enhanced interaction feedback. All new UI visuals
  • Press ESC to directly close an open menu.
  • On Gamepad, use B to move the cursor to a likely next button or to close the menu.
  • Added menu animations and improved button feedback.
  • Added a game-saving indicator.
  • The keyboard controls menu is now directly accessible without needing to reload to the main menu.
HUD Overhaul: The in-game HUD has received a complete refresh alongside many bug fixes. Weapon slots now dynamically fill up during reloads, and other elements have been adjusted for clarity:
  • Replaced the old font for a crisper look.
  • Replaced artifact and equipment assets with improved versions.
  • Moved the equipment slot to the bottom-right corner, now showing cooldown times.
  • Weapon slots display ammo state during reloads, and the selected weapon is lifted up for visual clarity.
  • Fixed various ammo state inaccuracies in weapon slots.
  • Resolved overlapping artifact display issues and prepared layout for additional artifact types.
  • Fixed mouse scroll-down to skip past empty weapon slots.
  • Prevented unnecessary sound and reload triggers when no weapon swap is possible.
Gameplay Changes General Adjustments:
  • Increased chances of finding loot.
  • Increased level sizes.
  • Added a mini-boss stage, marking the final level of the demo.
  • Fixed rare instances where projectiles would pass through walls or enemies without registering a hit.
  • Improved walking animations for holstered pistols.
  • Added god-ray effects on windows for some prettier looks.
  • Performance optimizations for smoother gameplay.
Gamepad Improvements:
  • Aim Assist cursor now remains within a specific radius near the player to prevent excessive cursor movement to new targets.
  • Fixed unintended character behaviors when using gamepad aim assist.
  • Fixed rare occurrences of cursor locking up when using the gamepad.
New Content Weapons:
  • Dual Big Irons: Added Dual Big Irons, doubling your firepower.
Equipment:
  • Molotov Cocktail: Ignite enemies with this classic fiery weapon.
  • Auto-Turret: A rare but powerful tool to defend a small area.
Artifacts:
  • Salvage Tool: Returns missed bullets to your inventory.
General Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed the player occasionally falling off the map.
  • Fixed getting stuck on the death screen after a failed run when clicking too quickly.
  • Fixed incorrect weapon display when navigating the map.
  • Fixed stuttering in the player HUD.
  • Fixed inaccurate ammo reload states not displaying consistently in the player HUD.
Additional Notes: Numerous other bug fixes and small tweaks were implemented but are not listed in full detail.

Scavenge for valuable loot as Zombiehood puts your survival instincts to the test. Master a constantly shifting arsenal of weapons, gear, artifacts, and limited ammo while fending off relentless waves of increasingly powerful undead.

INTENSE COMBAT

Combat in Zombiehood is deceptively deep. Enemies have weak points, armor, and resistances, pushing you to adapt your tactics with different weapon types and gear for maximum effect. Locational damage plays a key role—shooting off a leg slows enemies to a crawl, giving you breathing room. Yet taking off a head doesn't always stop them. Movement feels tight and responsive, with agile dodges that keep you light on your feet. A varied arsenal keeps every fight fresh and unpredictable.


EMERGENT ROGUELITE SYSTEMS

Zombiehood’s systems build dynamically on one another. As you gather weapons and upgrade your stats, you’ll uncover powerful artifacts that shape your playstyle. Some provide stacking modifiers, while others offer unique effects. Discover synergies between your weapons, gear, and artifacts, and combine them wisely to create devastating builds that tear through enemies and barriers. Death isn’t the end. Each run resets the world, but your progress carries over through earned skill points, currency, and blueprints, allowing you to grow stronger with every attempt.


MAP VARIETY

Maps consist of diverse biomes with distinct level pools that generate procedurally each run, making no two playthroughs alike. A fog of war shrouds the overworld, challenging you to explore and overcome obstacles before facing the final boss. Along the way, discover shops to restock, buy new weapons and gear, and heal, as well as encounter random events that can either aid or hinder your progress.
