Play as Adèle, a young woman who escapes harsh city life to find peace in the mountains. Taken in by a grumpy but kind old man, you're entrusted with caring for his goats and gradually become part of a small alpine village, where life moves gently but meaningfully.

Guide your goats through blooming meadows, help them find the best flowers to graze, and keep them happy with toys and attention. In return, they'll provide milk and wool, which are precious resources for the village's revival.

Use what nature provides to create artisanal products like cheese, wool clothing, herbal remedies, and wooden crafts. Trade or share these with villagers to help improve their homes and livelihoods. Every choice helps shape your relationship with the community.

Wander across lush valleys, quiet forests, and high-altitude lakes. Herd goats, forage for herbs and mushrooms, and fish in peaceful alpine waters. As you aid the village, you'll unlock new abilities that make it easier to climb, leap, and uncover parts of your newfound world.

Through branching dialogue and personal choices, you'll support villagers in rebuilding not just their homes but their lives. Will you embrace slow living or push for bolder change? Stay cozy within the village or open up to what lies beyond?
Inspired by the spirit of the Heidi novels, the narrative explores themes of healing through nature, the importance of helping one another, and the different ways to rebuild a community.
Hey everyone
\nDespite taking some much deserved rest over the vacation period, December was a big month for Heidis Legacy, packed with some meticulous work behind the scenes and a few visible upgrades we are excited to share with you!
8-direction movement for Adle
A big part of December was dedicated to making Adle move in 8 directions instead of 4!
[/img]
This sounds simple on paper, but it turned into a bit of a time consuming task. We had to draw all the missing body parts, duplicate and adapt skeletons in Blender, manually draw keyframes, and redo animations to make sure everything stayed consistent and natural.
[/img]
It took some patience, but the result makes movement in the game feel much smoother and more alive! We still have some work to do on the animations, but the basis is there.
A refreshed area around Peters house
We also completely remodeled the landscape around Peters house! The terrain has been reshaped to feel more interesting to explore, and we added some new harvestable bushes.
On top of that, Peter now has a workbench and a mushroom dehydrator right next to his house!
To make this change more noticeable and satisfying, we added a short cinematic where the camera zooms in and the dehydrator appears in a puff of smoke. A small moment, but one we love.
Peter himself also got a slight makeover: we tweaked his portrait to make him look a bit older.
[/img]
A more flexible crafting mini game
\nWe made an important change to our crafting mini game!
Previously, you had to select a single recipe, then align its ingredients in the correct order on a 4x4 grid with some blocked cells, as many times as possible.
Now, you can craft multiple products in one go!
Instead of choosing just one recipe, you can align the ingredients of several recipes on the same grid.
Some recipes use three ingredients, others use four, and the blocked cells still add a puzzle challenge. If you manage to align the same recipe more than once, you will produce multiple items at once.
This new version is more flexible, more strategic, and much more fun to play! Overall, it will strengthen the crafting aspects of the game.

Hey everyone! \nAnother cozy month has flown by, and we are excited to share what we have been working on for Heidis Legacy!
More life through VFX
\nWe spent quite some time polishing visual effects across the game to make actions feel more satisfying.
[/img]
[/img]
You can now see clearer feedback when goats munch on the right flowers, when a production mini game succeeds, and during the mushroom digging mini game. We still need to add more, these small touches are essential to any video game!
A world full of sound
\nSound design also got a huge upgrade this month! Where we once only had music and a few UI sounds, the game is now filled with ambience.
You can hear the village hens come alive, windy atmospheres higher up in the mountains, frogs croaking near the ponds, birds chirping, footsteps for Adle and the goats, goats bleating, and many new UI sounds!
It has completely changed how the world feels.
Cozy Quest highlights
November was extra special because we were part of Cozy Quest ! Were incredibly grateful and excited to have been included
[/img]
We participated in a panel with the organizers and recorded a fully commented Lets Play with subtitles, which we sometimes use for livestreams directly on the Steam page.
Huge thanks to the Cozy Quest organizer Secret Mode for making this happen
Introducing the Mood mechanic
We added a new gameplay system called Mood, which reflects how Adle is feeling day to day. Working too hard will lower it, while resting, socializing, and doing fulfilling activities will raise it.
[/img]
Every action now clearly shows whether it will improve or reduce your mood, adding a new layer of choice and balance to daily life in the mountains.
Hello Indie Live Expo
\nAnd finally, we were honored to be part of the Indie Live Expo Steam sales page, a major Japanese festival! For the occasion, we created a brand-new version of our trailer, fully voiced over in Japanese, with subtitles!
As a French duo, were very fond of Japanese culture, so we really enjoyed working on this trailer

Hey everyone!\n
October was a packed month for us on Heidis Legacy, and were excited to share everything weve been working on behind the scenes. This update touches UI, gameplay, worldbuilding, and core systems. Lots of invisible but important progress!
The Quest Wheel - small interface, BIG work
One of the biggest features we tackled this month is something we internally call the Quest Wheel.\nIts a clean, simple interface that gathers all quests from all NPCs in one place, making it easier to track your progress.
[/img]
From there, you can choose to watch a quest: this pins a small blue ribbon to the top-right corner of your HUD, helping you remember the task without overwhelming the screen.\n
[/img]
It may look like a modest little interface but behind it lies a huge amount of work: quest structuring, tracking logic, UI integration, and making everything react to players choices.
We\'re really proud of how it turned out!
Peter Helps With Goat Herding!
Big news for goat lovers: Peter can now shepherd your goats for you!
If you craft him a sweet treat like Birgit\'s berry cake and drop it in his new little basket, he will happily take over the morning goat herding duties.
[/img]
Youll find him sitting on his small wooden stool, watching the herd with his usual laid-back charm.
\n
A Bench to Control Time
Weve added a peaceful-looking bench that does more than offer a nice place to sit: it gives you control over the flow of time!
[/img]
By interacting with it, you can now skip ahead to the next time segment (e.g., morning afternoon).\nThis is especially handy since certain activities, like using Birgits stove, only happen at specific times of day.
No more waiting around, the pace is truly in your hands.
\n
A New Save System
This month we also implemented a robust save system!
The game now features:
4 independent save slots
[/*]Auto-saving every time time passes (morning afternoon evening)
[/*]The ability to save manually in any other slot
[/*]
[/img]
This means you can keep a bookmark before important narrative choices. It makes it easier to experiment with different paths or outcomes in the story.
\n
Expanding the Village New Area + New NPC House
On the worldbuilding side, we worked on the southern section of the village.\nWe refined the terrain in Blender, adjusting elevation, paths, and overall composition to better match the storys progression.
[/img]\n
We also added a new WIP house: this will become the home of a brand-new NPC arriving in Act 3 (well introduce them properly when the time comes!)
Its still early, but the village is really starting to come together piece by piece.
\n
Paris Games Week!
Last but not least, we showcased the game for 4 days at Paris Games Week!
Hundreds of players got to try the demo, share feedback and chat with us about cozy games, goats and Alpine life. It was our first time showing this demo in France (our home country!) and the reception was incredibly warm, a lot of players played all until the end
[/img]
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth!
\nThats it for October! Thank you so much for following our journey, your support keeps us going every month.
If you havent already, dont forget to follow the game on Steam to get notified when new devlogs drop.
See you in November!
With love,

Hey everyone!
Weve been hard at work bringing our cozy mountain game to life, and we cant wait to share what weve been cooking (literally!)
First off, we focused on the cooking mechanic, and its renowned chef Birgit!
She now has her own hand-painted portrait and her lovely little corner of the mountain village is finished
[/img]
She can now live surrounded by her adorable chickens! We drew them in Photoshop and animated them in Blender, doing our best to capture all their clucky charm.
[/img]
We also coded so that you can collect their eggs in the dedicated basket, which you can then use for cooking in Birgits stove
[/img]
We also revisited the merge minigame that you might remember from the mushroom-drying feature. This time, we adapted it for Birgits cooking station! Youll be able to combine different ingredients to prepare tasty berry muffins.
[/img]
We created a brand-new background for it!

Behind the scenes, our tech side got a little boost as well. Weve successfully upgraded the whole project to Godot 4.5 , which means better performance, stability, and overall smoother development moving forward. Huge thanks to all the Godot contributors for their hard work!
We also built a custom debugger tool that lets us control time, trigger events, and modify our inventory during testing. This might sound a bit nerdy, but its been a game-changer, allowing us to test features and fix issues much faster than before.
[/img]

Were feeling more excited than ever about how Heidis Legacy is coming together!
If you havent already, make sure to follow the game on Steam so you dont miss any updates
See you in the next devlog!

Hi everyone!
August has been an incredible month for Heidis Legacy from new features in the demo to our very first public showing at Gamescom! Lets dive in.
A Brand-New Recipe Mini-Game
Weve been working hard to implement a new recipe system for the demo, just in time for Gamescom!\nIn this mini-game, youll combine 2, 3, or 4 ingredients by aligning them in the correct order to craft handmade goods. Bonus lines even give you extra items - so planning your moves carefully really pays off.
[/img]
Its a fun way to bring crafting to life, and were excited for you to try it in the demo.
A Peek at Birgits House
Next up: more progress on our 3D-but-2D pipeline with Blender.
[/img]\nThis month, we shared a work-in-progress look at Birgits cozy little house - complete with red roof tiles, flower beds, and a warm welcome. Soon, Adele will be able to go talk to Birgit and help her with various cooking quests!
Chickens, Goats and More!
Gamescom was fast approaching, and before we left, we shared a few more sneak peeks of our 3D models: a chicken coop and a picnic table.
[/img]
The chickens will be roaming in Birgits garden, while the picnic table will be used by Grandpa and others to gather and discuss at the end of the day.
Adeles First Time at Gamescom
And then came the big event! We showcased Heidis Legacy for the very first time at Gamescom 2025 as part of the Indie Arena Booth - and what an experience it was!
Hundreds of players stopped by to try the demo, giving us incredible feedback (and plenty of goat love ).
[/*]We met with many potential partners, opening new doors for the games future.
[/*]And of course, we caught up with lots of fellow dev friends the Indie Arena Booth community always makes this event so special!
[/*]
[/img]
This was a huge milestone for us, and we couldnt be more grateful for the excitement and support we received at the show.
Stay in the Loop!
Thats it for August a busy, heartwarming month for Heidis Legacy. Well have more updates to share very soon, so if you havent already, dont forget to hit the Follow button on our Steam page. That way, youll get notified as soon as new devlogs and updates go live.
Thanks again for being part of this journey with us
Mlanie & Aurlien\nThe Humble Reeds Team
Hi everyone!
July has flown by, and weve been hard at work getting Heidis Legacy ready for the big stage: Gamescom 2025!
\nWere thrilled to be part of the Indie Arena Booth (Hall 10.2), and that means a lot of preparation behind the scenes: printings for the booth, designing cards and stickers, scheduling meetings, and (of course) polishing the demo so it runs smoothly and bug-free for everyone who plays it in Kln
[/img]
Bug Fixes: The Sliding Saga
[/img]
This month, we tackled a series of physics bugs that caused goats - and even Adle - to slide around like they were on ice! While it was sometimes funny to watch, its not quite the peaceful mountain life we imagined
Bringing the Mountains to Life w/ Volumetric Fog\n
[/img]
\nTo make the games atmosphere even richer, we implemented volumetric fog across the mountain landscapes. Now, morning mist rolls down the hills, and sunsets feel more dramatic and immersive than ever!
Sneak Peek: Outdoor Bread Oven
[/img]
Were also working on new buildings, and heres a little preview! We started modeling a traditional outdoor oven, inspired by real alpine designs. Its still a work in progress, its quite hard to find a way to render stones while keeping the watercolor effect.
Journaling\n
[/img]
Similar to https://store.steampowered.com/app/1978150/Kamaeru_A_Frog_Refuge/\"" style="color:#bb86fc;text-decoration:none;">Kamaeru , the journal will come in handy to log every quest you have with the characters. We also made it so that the main page is a good recap of your mountain life so far
Stay in the Loop!
Were sharing devlogs like this one every month, and the best way to keep up with our progress is to push the Follow button on Steam! That way, youll get notified as soon as we post something new.
Thank you for all your support, and see you soonmaybe even in person at Gamescom!

Hi everyone!
June was a big month for us two at Humble Reeds, and were excited to share everything weve been working on for Heidis Legacy with you!
The Big Reveal
First things first Heidis Legacy was officially announced during Wholesome Direct 2025!
We were so touched by the warm response and curiosity around our new project If you havent seen the announcement trailer yet, you can check it out here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn9wiXLI_q0
Adele's Journey Begins
We kicked off the month by working on the intro cutscene, where our main character, Adle, begins her journey from the city to the peaceful mountain village. But we dont want to spoil too much about it yet!
A Bit of Digging
We also made solid progress on the digging mini-game, refining its interface and making it more intuitive and satisfying to play.
Behind the Scenes: Adle in Motion
Ever wondered how we animate our characters? This month we shared a peek behind the curtain: Adle is animated in Blender, using a 3D skeleton but with 2D sprite assets attached!
It's a hybrid approach that helps us keep the hand-drawn charm while allowing for smooth movement and quick iteration.
Say Cheese! (QTE Style)
Next up was the cheese-making mini-game! We designed and implemented a quick-time event (QTE) bonus system that will reward you with more products when you complete it. We still have to do some playtesting to get the timing just right!
A Moving Sky
One of the most satisfying updates: we made the skybox rotate to reflect the passage of time during the day. Its a small touch that really brings the world to life.
A Bit of Juice
Finally, we gave some love to the interface animations. Now, when you open a menu or interact with an element, the UI responds with a little movement a bit of "juice" that makes every interaction feel more satisfying.

And thats a wrap for June!
Thank you so much for your support. Whether you're here for the cozy vibes, the game dev insights, or the goats, were happy to have you along for the journey.
Dont forget to follow the game here on Steam to catch future devlogs and updates!
With love,
