Hello there! Welcome to the Steam page for my first (completed) project, Pierrot la Mode. I originally made this game in 2023 for the Big Mode Game Jam, and completed the first version of the game within the span of two weeks. This game uses photos taken with the Game Boy Camera for each levels title card and for every character portrait during dialogue sequences. The photos were originally in 4-tone green, like the first Game Boy, with color added after the fact in GB Studio. However, all of the character effects are practical! I purchased clown makeup and the noses, and reused a couple of masks that I bought during the production of Gas Station Story. Beyond removing the backgrounds each character was photographed in, the pixels are straight from the GB Cam. Speaking of, Pierrot la Mode is meant to serve as a sort of prequel to the events of Gas Station Story, a similarly styled project Ive been working on for a couple of years now. Thematically, the games dont share much beyond having the same Point-of-Sale system (hint hint) and touching on the woes of working in customer service. The new build of the game includes a revitalized Clown Mode that functions as I originally envisioned, as well as numerous bugfixes and a new ending variation if you achieve a perfect score -- this new ending will give you a bit of a hint towards what's coming in the back half of Gas Station Story. Good luck at pulling off a perfect score! I struggle with it myself. Im working on a way to have this Steam version save between levels, but havent quite cracked it yet. Some day I'll be returning to this project to show you what happens to the Dairy Clown crew after that new special ending, but that's a story for another time. In the meantime, Ill be continuing development on Gas Station Story and trying to figure out why the Electron Wrapper doesnt like my .sav files. Thanks so much for playing!
