Story
In “Life of a Dispatch English Teacher in Japan,” you play as Maria Ramirez, an American working in Japan as an English teacher. It’s a rewarding, fun job, and you’re beloved by students and coworkers alike–until suddenly, one day you lose your job. You work for a dispatch English teaching company, and they lost their contract with your school, just one month before the end of the school year.
Out of nowhere, you must change the course of your life. You have a loving girlfriend to support you and other friends facing this alongside you, but ultimately you must make an extremely tough choice about your future.
This game is based on the real-life experiences of English teachers throughout Japan, on issues that tens of thousands of people endure every single year, and is designed to provide an up-close viewpoint of what the dispatch contract system does to the individuals impacted.

A narrative game about love in the digital age, Winter Heat follows the story of Shio, a woman living in snowy Kyoto, and Javi, a woman living in sweltering Santiago. This game has recently reached over 450 players on Steam (as well as hundreds more on Itch), and it\'s seen a huge increase in profile in recent weeks due to the Kyoto ALT strike over some of the very same issues that this game discussed.
Conditions have been getting worse and worse for English teachers in Japan, but the Kyoto ALTs did manage to secure a raise , one of the first of its kind for private dispatch ALTs. This game sure isn\'t to thank, but I know we\'ve received many kind words about it since its release, especially since the Japanese localization.
So, thank you very much for your support. This was not a large game by any means, but I hope it made at least a small impact on raising awareness. Thank you for playing and thank you for sharing.

It\'s a romantic comedy, nowhere near as heavy as Life of a Dispatch English Teacher in Japan, but it deals with some of the same difficult topics, such as visa trouble, gay marriage, and making tough life choices about moving overseas.

Each copy of Winter Heat comes with a ROM of one of Javi and Shios favorite nostalgic games (and pieces of riffing material): Oomfie World IV: The 1994 Saga of Turbo. Why does the title include 1994? Were not sure. Probably because that sounded futuristic in 1993.
After her best friend Sam is sucked into the hot new game console, Oomfie must traverse the digital world of Turbo and collect pieces of the Virtual Cuboid Console to send them both back.
Discover a comfy town and four mazelike adventure zones, switching from a classic overhead view to first-person face-offs in the Chili Forest and other whimsical locales.
Every run through an adventure zone is different, with its own special events. Meet friends and not-so-friends on the road, and decide whether to trade, help, or run away really fast. The further you go, the more forks in the road.
