A story scattered across a broken world;
A once-thriving society reduced to countless scattered wanderers
Will you find allies in this new chaotic void? Or will you plunder it for your own purposes?
(Try to) find and raise scattered adventurers from little more than wild and unruly denizens of a chaotic world into a true community with a shared purpose.
Watch them blow themselves (and each other) up testing chaotic and unpredictable skills and abilities - not all of them useful or helpful... without some creativity.
Physics based, highly vertical traversal - some adventurers might be able to fly, glide, dash multiple times through the air, or run and jump off of walls. You need to be able to do that much to get around this world.
Equipment Slots? Inventory Management? Crafting? Skill trees? Levels? Drops? Explore a unique character progression system that throws everything you know out of the window - things may seem simple at first glance, but your growth can be a puzzle in itself.
Some creatures throughout the world seem to have been infused with something outside of themselves...
Collapsing World Guild Master is a vehicle for prose - a message from a denizen of a different place than our own - scattered, corrupted, and deeply embedded into an artificial world. It's also an endless action-sandbox with physics-based combat and many modes of traversal. Piece together the story of the world you are in, written by hand by one of the characters trapped within it, but hidden away, so as not to be discovered or lost by those who do not seek it.
Leaning in a little to this being a storytelling and communication tool, a couple of user-requested quality of life features for folks who primarily want to use the notebook:\n\n
- \n
- You can now open the notebook exclusively, skipping the game, using the \"--notebook\" command line flag. The full command looks like \"cwgm -- --notebook\" on linux, for reference, or \"cwgm.exe -- --notebook\" on windows.\n
- You can now losslessly send non-text data to friends using the copy and paste tools. If you want to share keys or encrypted data (without losing some of it due to encoding failures), or collaborate on putting the story together, this is for you!\n
By request, we now have a timed tutorial course that you can play through to quickly understand movement mechanics and decryption. The guided prompts in the main game are still present, as they gate certain unlockable features.\n\nDuring implementation of the tutorial, we also:\n\n* Significantly improved NPC performance.\n* Significantly improved crosshair/aiming/focus selection reliability.\n* Focusing/Aiming when looking away from your current focus now clears your current focus. (No more swinging around 180 degrees when trying to aim at something else)\n* Fixed certain crashes related to the pause and settings menus.\n* Fixed a class of bugs relating to data not appearing in the notebook until after reloading.
[olist]\n
- \n
- Chapter viewer now scrolls.\n
- Game reset *should* work now (partially - custom characters still remain after reset)\n
The notebook can now be swapped between edit and view mode, where view mode renders markdown!\n\nThe single graphic I had in the story is now actually visible in view mode!\n\nComing soon: adding your own images to your notebook.
Hey! If you\'re seeing this, you\'re one of the first people who are trying this game! Thanks!\n\nThis update includes some changes and features made this month prior to launch.\n\n
- \n
- Many performance fixes\n
- Fixes to inconsistent lighting\n
- Fixes to certain unlockable features\n
- Preliminary fixes to certain known issues - see discord for more details on some of them\n
- Now you can create new cyphertext directly from a decryption result without having to copy (lossily) decoded text into a notebook chapter.\n
