Open World Souls-Like

Dreamspring is a dark fantasy styled, open world, souls-like, dungeon crawler game. As a spellsword gunslinger, you'll explore ethereal landscapes shrouded in twilight, battle fearsome creatures, and uncover ancient secrets. Explore the dying Kingdom of Mortis and its different realms in first person action combat, in a world mixed with retro and vaporwave aesthetics.
With inspiration from Morrowind and King's Field, Dreamspring aims to be an open world dungeon crawler similar to those games, but it still succeeds in having a unique take on the genre. The open world and story take elements from the real world in a distant doomed future, plagued by a mysterious legend, the Dreamsprings. Balance is aimed to be on the easier end, as a less punishing type of Souls/Scrolls-like game.

The Story
The Kingdom of Mortis, a realm in ruins, looms beneath a twilight sky. The once strong empire has become barren and desolate and the few remaining people are haunted by nightmares and despair. Only the Holy City floating above is the last remnant of civilization, ruled by a religious army. Tormented by dreams of an unwanted visitor, one solitary figure dares to venture into the heart of the dying world in an attempt to uncover its secrets and restore balance to the realm, a desperate attempt to save the waking world from certain doom.

New voice acting lines for Akumu are now in game! Thanks to Tamaryn Payne for doing this role! Tamaryn is well known for Mizora in Baulder\'s Gate 3, someone Akumu is quite inspired by, and she did a perfect job for the role. If you\'ve already played through the main quest, you will need to start a new game to hear many of these lines.
New artwork for Akumu is also now live, thanks to Vestele8.
Akumu is seemly far more favored than the Holy City for a main story path, and since early access is the time for changes, I\'ll be sure to focus more on the Akumu main quest in future updates.

The next update planned is heavily centered around side content and new world map locations. There is currently no ETA on the release.
This is the largest update so far, with new main quest progression! More content including the Arena, new enemies, weapons, spells, and new maps to explore for the waking world, dreamrealm and now limbo. There is also a large branch in the main quest, which will completely change the main quest experience depending on certain dialogue choices. \n

There are also two large updates planned like this one before the game will near the 1.0 release, and likely other small updates as well along the way. One large update will finish the main story, and another will expand upon new maps and side content.

This is a large content update for polish and reworks. It also includes many files for the next Dreamrealm making the update fairly large, but access to that will be coming at a later date. The main story still currently ends after defeating Umbra. This update includes:
-Long overdue Howling Keep rework.
-Alchemy and ingredient rework, plans to be expanded further in later updates.
-New gun to buy in the Holy City.
-Performance upgrades.
-New attack pattern for Flesh Golem.
-Completely reworked character models for certain NPCs.
-Multiple small map additions, game changes and bug fixes.
There is a very large update in the works for story and content which may take months before it is finalized. But I assure you tons of time is going into getting it completed!
New dungeon added to the Northern Shore, new enemies, weapons, and fixes specific for Steamdeck. \n\nKey rebinds are now open for keyboard and gamepad, instead of whichever you are using at the time. On Steamdeck only gamepad functions will show up.
Due to many requests key rebind is now in game, for gamepad and keyboard. This update also adds some [u]new in game art[/u] by Vestele8 and [u]bug fixes[/u] thanks to the user reports in Discord.

This update includes several new maps, enemies, weapons, spells, boss fights, and more. Continue onward into the main story, through the Floating Citadel and defeat the Fallen Angel Umbra. A list of general additions are:
-New main story boss battle: Fallen Angel Umbra.
-New optional boss battle: Arachnid Queen.
-Access to the Floating Citadel, progress further in the main quest!
-New achievements for boss battles and killing voidbeasts. Previous fights with bosses will unlock automatically, voidbeast achievements will need to be done in a new game if you've past this part of the story, these are missable.
-New locations: Floating Citadel, Heaven's Gate, Umbra's Cradle, and Oad Village.
-Butterfly merchant with new spells and items to buy.
-New underwater locations, enemies, and items to find. To continue being expanded upon in later updates.
-Reworked world backgrounds, this should improve performance and load times.
-New dynamic enemy movements. Oculus was given a new attack pattern, as well as the new enemies. Updates on enemy AI will continue to be improved.
-New items on world maps, including a new type of currency.
-Weapon growth is now 4 times higher until max. This adds up to 100 points to minimum and maximum damage for all weapons/magic.
(Weapon/magic upgrades -different from growth- are still coming in a later update.)
-Shield spell now grants a total defense bonus based on growth, in addition to blocking.
-UI rework, should look better on wider screens.
-Many bug fixes and small additions.

Coming this month will be a large content update! There are many changes and additions to list, the biggest additions will be a [u]Steam OS/Linux[/u] build, tons of [u]new content[/u] and more to the [u]main story[/u].
I wanted to note there will be a [u]slight price increase[/u] upon this next update, which may be ready within a week or two. Referring to the early access description, Dreamspring released with an adjusted price, this next update will bring the game slightly further into its full vision.

-Willpower no longer contributes to mana regen by default! You may now customize your build to allow INT, WIL, or FAI become a mana regen stat, or find it on magic items. To compensate anyone who dumped into Willpower, please use ESKUILTA in the code entry for an amulet that brings back mana regen to Willpower. Mana regen is also more powerful per stat point.
-New ghost lantern quest and reward. Day and night cycle content is in the works, the first side quest found at night time only is in the Shores of Mortis, it's reward being a lantern for dungeons and dark areas.
-Underwater combat now enabled. Fire magic still doesn't work underwater. Underwater enemies and areas will continue to develop.
-Double stat growth per point for all weapons, spells, life and mana.
-CRT filter reworked.
-Bug fixes. (Zephyr spell fixed, Sisilia disappearing from the Holy City is now fixed.)
There's been a few updates the last few days and today:
-Preloading has been configured into many maps, eliminating some lag spikes. Will continue to work on this as reports come in.
-New details to Shores of Mortis, and one of the Shores of Mortis dungeons.
-You can now break the intro barrels. Many of the game barrels were breakable besides those, giving the player the wrong idea from the start.
-Player's manual has been reworked.
-Many bug fixes and quality improvements.

The next update will likely focus on the next area and boss battle within the Floating Citadel. This may be released around July. Important updates may be done beforehand, but this next large content update may take a bit of time. Thank you for your continued support!
There's been quite a few patches and updates over the first week, many bugs and additions have been implemented. Thanks to all the Youtube videos/streamers, and people who went out of their way to report bugs. Many improvements were made based off gameplay videos as well. Here's a general list of what's been added today and within the last week:
-Two new dungeons.
-Two new spells.
-One new weapon.
-More loot added to the Voidlands.
-Revolver effects and sound rework.
-You can now light candles with the fire spell.
-Several bug fixes and various improvements.
Dreamspring Early Access is now available! Thank you to anyone who's decided to get involved. This is the time to make suggestions while the rest of the game in still in development.
Anyone playing on week 1 will earn a Supporter's Crown item, which will grant 10% bonus experience to enemy kills. This is the only time that item will be offered. You must purchase and start a new game within week 1 to register the item in your saved game.
