Freelance hacker Quei-Li is given a new job: uncover information from a secret government network about a high-profile corruption case. While she typically avoids high-risk jobs like this, her curiosity about the secret network and her wish to bring on positive change to Shiba Island convinces her to accept.
The job leads to Quei-Li bluffing her way into the ARI government as an undercover programmer. She builds up a rapport with her coworkers while seeking the information her client needs. The more she digs around, the more secrets Quei-Li discovers, leading her to question her own existence.
