Update 1.4 is finally here and it is one of the most substantial updates the game has received so far. This update introduces brand-new content, expands progression, and revisits several core systems to improve clarity, balance, and long-term replayability.

New Map Von Eldrath Castle

A second map has arrived.

Von Eldrath Castle, the ancient stronghold of the Von Eldrath Bloodline, is now playable. The castle is currently under siege by Dwarven forces and their Fae allies.

New playable map with a unique layout and encounter flow\n Distinct pacing and enemy compositions compared to the original map\n The addition of a second map allowed us to review overall balance and smooth out progression pacing across the game

We know this update took much longer than originally anticipated and were sorry about that.

Real-life obligations and unexpected pressures put significant time constraints on our small indie team, and that inevitably affected our development pace.

Undead Onslaught is being built by a small group of people who genuinely care about the game, and while were doing our absolute best to keep it evolving, future updates may arrive at a slightly slower pace than before.

That said, we remain optimistic.

The next update is currently planned to be the launch update, though depending on how things shape up, there *may* be a 1.5 update before final release. Well have a clearer picture and more concrete information by the end of Q1 2026.

Hotfix: Game Difficulty Round 2

Greetings, Villains of Undead Onslaught!

We have just deployed another small hotfix:

  • Wave Balance: Reduced the HP and quantity of all enemies by 10-30% on waves in 15-20 minute mark.

  • Cordemal: Frost Bolt - base stats improved to have additional piercing and slightly more damage.

  • Cordemal: Ice Orb - Significantly higher base damage and greater damage improvement on level up.

  • Cordemal: Frost Nova - area improvements on level up.

  • Pentagram: Significant improvement in damage and area across all levels.

Additionally last week we stealht dropped another hotfix that:

  • Bosses: Won't jump aroun so frequently anymore by significantly increasing the interval between dashes (some bosses still have double dash moves, but the interval between these double dashes is much higher now).

  • Bosses: HP and HP scaling reduction across the board.

    P.S.
    We are well aware of current imbalance between characters: Rend is much stronger and fun to play, whereas most other (especially starting) villains are much more challenging. Easier way would be to just nerf Rend, but we decided to do the opposite - leave Rend as is (maybe just a reeeeeally small nerf at most) but rather give all other villains major improvements to match his power. This is also an opportunity to give some of the VIllains with a bit more "plain" class mechanic something more interesting. This will happen in 1.4 so expect some hotfixes in the meantime to make the gap less frustrating.

Hotfix: Game Difficulty and Discord Link

Greetings, Villains of Undead Onslaught!

We have just deployed a small hotfix that should reduce the HP of all enemies by 10-30% depending on wave.
Ranged enemies (both with ranged based attacks and melee enemies with ranged special attacks) have had their damage and cooldown reduced by ~20-30%

Additionnaly we have also updated the Discord link so you can now join our community once again!

This is the first difficulty adjustment, we are monitoring the curve and will potentially do 1 or 2 more rounds of adjustments until we are happy with the difficulty for players in the low to mid meta progression range.

Smarter, Deadlier, Braver: The Evolution of Your Enemies

From Stat Blocks to Behavior-Driven Enemies

In the early waves of Undead Onslaught, your enemies were mostly defined by numbers higher health, faster speed, stronger attacks. They were brave, yes... but simple.

Not anymore.

As the game has evolved, so have the forces of good. They're no longer just waves of villagers with different outfits. Now, they come in two distinct classes:

Horde Enemies fast, numerous, and relentless.

Special Enemies elite units with unique behaviors, auras, and abilities that can completely change how you play.

This is more than difficulty scaling. This is a shift in how Undead Onslaught challenges you.

Horde Enemies: The Shield Wall Crumbles or Crushes

Enemies like Villagers, Hawks, Mercenaries, and the new Angels represent the bulk of the resistance. They're fast. They're everywhere. And when left unchecked, they drown you in righteous numbers.

But now, they're not alone.

Special Enemies: Behavior Over Stats

Our real focus in this update has been giving special enemies distinct personalities and battlefield roles:

Royal Infantry doesnt just tank it activates Shield Wall, reducing frontal damage and forcing you to reposition.

Rogues and Hunters pause to throw projectiles predictable if you notice their cast time, deadly if you dont.

Adventurers seek out Blacksmiths to get buffs, becoming far more dangerous if you let them succeed.

Archangels don't attack directly but their buff aura can turn an entire swarm into an unstoppable wall of light.

Each special enemy now asks you to make decisions: Do you take out the support? Burn down the ranged threat? Avoid the area-control golem? Or just try to survive?

This is no longer a numbers game.

Cinderhell fans, rejoice! Youll finally be able to supercharge Hellbreath builds with the new Scorching Dominion talent.
- Scorching Dominion adds an extra synergy with Cinderhells class mechanic, vastly improving the spread and potency of your Burn effects.

Zargoth the Stormcaller

Our resident evil shaman will have his unqiue Passive "Elemental Mastery" improved in it's base form to:
1. Replace Physical damage bonus with Frost damage in its base form
2. Temporarily supercharge all bonuses whenever a Blood Drop is picked up

And now a new suite of talents to further empower his Elemental Mastery passive will be available:

First off, we couldnt have done this without you. From the moment we hit Early Access to now, your feedback, bug reports, and enthusiasm have driven every decision weve made.

The dark forces have stirred, and were thrilled to announce that Update 1.3 is now live as an Open Beta!
This update is packed with new content, massive visual overhauls, and not one, but two new playable Villains to unleash upon your enemies!
Or is it really just two? There have been dark whispers suggesting otherwise, but what could they mean?

A New Look for a Darker World
This update brings a major visual overhaul to the game! Prepare to venture into a completely redesigned map with richer environments, enhanced visual effects, and yesactual blood effects!Game Description Image

Vanquish your enemies and paint the map crimson in the name of the dark gods. The blood effects fade over time, but the higher your Onslaught Level, the longer they staygiving you the chance to transform the world into your own personal bloodbath.

Vespera Darkmoon: The Dark Ranger

Hello, Villains of Undead Onslaught!


Between the new features and a lot of spilled blood (literally), were beyond excited to share whats on the horizon for your villainous escapades.

Lets dive into the key highlights of Update 1.3!

Major Visual Overhaul: A Darker, Bloodier World Awaits

The lands youve ravaged are getting a stunning new look! Were introducing a brand-new map with a fresh environment, enhanced visual effects, and yesactual blood effects.Game Description Image

Now, as you vanquish your enemies, their blood will paint the battlefield in the name of the dark gods you serveor simply your own twisted ambitions. Blood effects will fade over time, but as your Onslaught Level rises, the blood lingers longer, letting you paint the map in crimson glory.

Prepare for a world thats not just more immersive but also a whole lot messier. >:)

Postponing the New Game Mode

Weve thought long and hard about the new game mode we teased previously. Ultimately, we werent happy with how it turned out, and weve decided not to include it in this update.

Why?

Its tough being an indie game dev without publisher support, but theres one big upside: we arent forced to ship anything we dont believe in. Releasing something we dont find fun would be a disservice to you and our vision for the game. So, while its disappointing, we believe this is the right decision.

The good news?

Some features developed for the new mode are making their way into the standard map!

Update 1.2.6 is live!

Greetings, Villains of Undead Onslaught!


We just deployed a small update that focuses on several things:

  • Balance: Bird Mother (First Boss) HP reduced by 33%
  • Balance: Boss dash distance reduced by 33%
  • Balance: The first Nemesis (Hero) will spawn relatively close to Villain's start position.
  • Balance: All Nemeses (Heroes) spawn distance is reduced by 33%
  • Tooltips: Restored Onslaught System Tooltip when hovering over the UI panel. Sorry about that!
  • UI: Now all (almost?) abilities that have Status Effects will pop up a small info panel detailing the Status Effect. It's a bit clunky at the moment on Level Up screen, but we will redesign it in the upcoming update so that it won't be as ugly (yikes!).

    This ancient and ominous shrine allows you to customize the intensity of your run by adjusting three key parameters:

    Onslaught Accumulation Increase the rate at which Onslaught Levels are gained, accelerating the intensity of the run.

    Onslaught Level Set the starting and minimum Onslaught Level, ensuring a constant and challenging baseline of difficulty.

    Madness Control the frequency of tougher, Blessed enemies. These elite foes drop increased rewards but present formidable challenges, demanding precise strategy and skill.

    The Shrine of Eternal Strife taps into your collected Skulls resource to empower these adjustments. Skulls arent consumed by the shrine, but the more Skulls you invest, the stronger the shrines effects become. Each villain has their own capacity for how many Skulls they can harness, allowing for unique scaling of the shrines power based on their strength and experience.

    Prepare for a run tailored to test the very limits of your villains power and adaptability!

    New Feature: Shrine of Eternal Strife

    At the start of each run, players can now interact with the Shrine of Eternal Strife to modify the difficulty of their journey. Game Description Image

    This ancient and ominous shrine allows you to customize the intensity of your run by adjusting three key parameters:

    Onslaught Accumulation Increase the rate at which Onslaught Levels are gained, accelerating the intensity of the run.

    Onslaught Level Set the starting and minimum Onslaught Level, ensuring a constant and challenging baseline of difficulty.

    Madness Control the frequency of tougher, Blessed enemies. These elite foes drop increased rewards but present formidable challenges, demanding precise strategy and skill.

    The Shrine of Eternal Strife taps into your collected Skulls resource to empower these adjustments. Skulls arent consumed by the shrine, but the more Skulls you invest, the stronger the shrines effects become. Each villain has their own capacity for how many Skulls they can harness, allowing for unique scaling of the shrines power based on their strength and experience.

    Prepare for a run tailored to test the very limits of your villains power and adaptability!

    Second Major Update is LIVE! (1.2)

    Hello, Villains of Undead Onslaught!


    Lord Cinderhell was kind enough to show off all the new goodies he could get his hands on in the upcoming 1.2 Update! We were constantly hearing his evil cackling, so I guess we can safely say that at least hes enjoying the content. >.>

    Now, lets dive into the key features of Update 1.2!

    Ability Evolutions

    The long-awaited Ability Evolutions are finally here! You can now combine specific max-level active abilities (weapons) and passive skills into a supercharged new skill thats both visually impressive and utterly devastating.

    For example, the Fire Tornado can now evolve into Soulstormin addition to spawning the regular Fire Tornadoes, it summons a Soulstorm Tornado that acts like a minion, constantly hunting enemies to burn and destroy!

    Also, in this update, some talents exclusive to specific villains have been converted into evolutions, as they felt more fitting in this form. But don't worry! Villains who lost those "evolution" talents have received even cooler, brand-new talents. Game Description Image

    Unique Villain Mechanics

    Each villain now has a unique interactive mechanic right from the start, which automatically upgrades every 5 levels with a visual indicator in the UI.

    For instance, Lord Cinderhell's old passive, Infernal Domain, has been promoted into his Unique Mechanic! Now, aside from its original effects, it has a power-up indicator. Every enemy burned fills the bar, and once fully charged, Lord Cinderhell gains a 2x Fire Damage bonus for a short time! The bar resets when the effect ends, and the process begins anew.

    Every villain will have their own Unique Mechanic, adding more depth and strategy to each playthrough!

    Dark Aspirations

    Each villain now comes with their own set of Dark Aspirationspersonal challenges that will grant a Skull when completed. The first three characters (Rend, Cinderhell, and Cordemal) have relatively simple aspirations that will take about 1-2 runs to complete, unlocking their first row of talents.

    Villains like Taurok, Aphorius, and Zargoth will face more challenging aspirations, taking 3-5 runs on average to complete. Aurelian falls somewhere in between, with aspirations taking 2-4 runs. Lastly, Varkath and two future villains (not arriving in 1.2, but soon!) will have the most difficult aspirations, typically requiring 4+ runs to conquer.

    Context: We designed Dark Aspirations to give newer players a meaningful choice after their first run: replay with more talents or try out a different villain. These quests offer a quicker way to unlock the first talent row by earning extra Souls, bypassing some of the RNG (boss drops) or Hero-Slayer mechanics!

    World Quests

    We have added a new Map Interaction and a source of skulls: World Quests. These are challenging quests, that have a special conditon attached to them. For instance, this one summons an Angel that has an aura, that nullifies all the damage from all your skills as long as he's nearby! Worry not, though, as a portal of Hell will be summoned, where the angels has to be "kindly escorted" into. Doing so yields powerful rewards! It's just a matter of not being torn to shreds by a bunch of angry peasants, while doing 0 damage to them!

    Global Events

    When the World Quests will be unlocked you'll also unlock Global Events. These are random occurances of weird and otherwordly effects on the map! Can you survive through them all?

    First off, I want to send out a massive thank you to everyone for the incredible feedback and support since our 1.1 update went live a few weeks ago. The response has been amazing, and it's been super rewarding to hear how much you're enjoying the changes.

    Now that we've gotten some great feedback from the community and Version 1.1 is out in the wild, it's time to keep the momentum going! We've been hard at work on what's coming next, and today Im excited to share the updated roadmap with you.

    Early Access Minor Update 8

    Since the launch of 1.1 we release an array of hotfixes that fixed some major bugs and gameplay issues!

    Bug Fixes
    1. Fixed a bug, where some new players would experience game becoming unresponsive on their very first run after the update.
    2. Fixed a bug where pressing the Play button multiple times on the character selection screen could cause an FPS drop for a few seconds.
    3. Fixed a bug where the vase icon on the minimap would not disappear after breaking it.
    4. Fixed a bug where the Orb from bosses would drop in the camp and couldn't be collected. It now moves to the camp's edge.

    Gameplay
    1. Ultimate cooldown is now an actual timer instead of a percentage.
    2. Auto-aim now truly aims automatically rather than just facing the direction. As a result, weapons like the 'Labyrinth Lacerator' and 'Hellscythe,' which shoot at a target position, will now shoot in the target direction with a limited range.
    3. Optimized projectile-based weapons for better performance.
    4. Bosses now deal reduced damage on contact, except during 'Charge' moves.
    5. Some bosses' area attack zones have been reduced.
    6. Some bosses have been nerfed, so they shouldn't one-shot the player anymore.
