Exactly one year ago we opened the gates to our little world, and your creativity has filled it with unforgettable adventures ever since. To celebrate 12 months of map-making we are bringing the heat of the Inferno! First of all, we want to thank every single one of you who has played, shared, discussed, or sent feedback about The Storyteller. You are awesome! Patch 0.3.0 expands the game with a brand new biome, a dark and formidable class, deeper customization tools, and plenty and gameplay improvements. Ready? Lets dive into the details! New Biome: Inferno The fifth biome is here Inferno a scorching landscape where fire and darkness rule. Create your own inferno tales with this massive content drop: 8 fiery new Ground Textures 7 brand-new Enemies 25 unique Demon NPCs 50+ new Design Elements 6 new Music Perfect for your darkest, most epic campaigns yet. New Class: Demonborn Tap into the forbidden power of the Inferno with the Demonborn, a high-risk, high-reward mage class. Drawing strength from their own life force, Demonborns unleash devastating area-of-effect attacks and drain the life from their enemies. They burn bright but at what cost? Expanded Custom Elements Your world, your rules. Weve expanded the list of elements you can customize by uploading your own images: Custom Ground Dont see the terrain you need? Upload your own! Custom NPC Add original characters for your heroes to meet and interact with. Custom Enemy Craft your own monsters, assign their stats, and handpick their abilities. Custom Hero Want to play as your own character? Now you can. Upload a custom hero icon and set out on a journey thats truly yours. Polished Grids Weve smoothed out the edges of all ground tiles to make maps look more natural. Transitions between roads, grass, buildings, and shorelines now feel seamless. Smooth Token Movement Tokens (Heroes, Enemies, etc.) now move fluidly between tiles instead of instantly jumping from one grid to the next. Small change huge difference in feel. Patreon Support Its been a year since The Storyteller launched in Early Access, and weve kept it entirely free, because creativity should never be limited by your wallet. Quality of Life Improvements Added a Play button when selecting audio in Triggers, so you can preview music and SFX without switching to the Audio Panel. The Warriors Fearless Pierce ability now strikes in a cone instead of a line better coverage, more versatility. Minor bugfixes and tweaks across the board. Our latest patch is here! We've packed it with exciting new features and updates just for you get ready to explore what's new! Custom Images: We try to create as diverse Biomes as possible, so you can create various campaigns with built-in elements. However, there are times when you need a specific character, enemy, or Design. Therefore, we have started implementing custom browsable images for different game elements so you can finally create the story you always wanted. We have already implemented the following elements: Custom Image: You can browse and place an image from your computer. You can move it freely, resize or rotate it. Custom Design: You can now place your own Design elements using the Brush tool. Want a custom tree or a special decor? Just browse it from your device, and you can place it. Additional elements (like NPC, Enemy, etc.) will be added in future patches. Door: We have added a new element that can be placed on Grids. Now, Doors are included among them. If you want to lock off a part of the map so that players need to obtain a Key item or find a secret Password first, the Door is for you. But remember! Doors are used to be openable, so place a Chest or NPC where players can find or buy the Key item needed to open the Door. 5+ selectable Door designs. 70+ selectable Key items. Expanded Chest and NPC shop items with Keys. Teleport: We didn't just implement one, but two elements that can be placed on Grids. It's often useful in a story to teleport the group to another location, city, or island. Now theres you can do it easily. We created the Teleport, which allows you to teleport your group to another location. Place 2 Teleports and link them so the Heroes can travel between them. Statistics: To ensure that the development of The Storyteller progresses in the best direction, we need data. Although we have received several feedbacks through Steam comments and Discord channels, there are many in-game behaviors we do not know about, which means we don't know exactly which elements the players enjoy more or less. Therefore, we have built in Anonymous data collection to find out whether they prefer to play as a Storyteller or a Hero. Do players create their own stories or play the built-in campaigns? Which hero avatar is the most popular? Etc. These are all data that will help us know the right direction to develop features that will be useful for the players. Linux build: We have conquered a new operating system! We've created a native Linux build, so now Linux users can also create and tell their own stories. Other minor features and bugfixes: We have revoked the requirement for an Epic Games Account, so it is no longer needed for online gameplay. Implemented default resolutions in the Screenshot menu for easier selection. Fixed some typos in the tooltips. Fixed the issue where Design elements were placed higher or lower compared to other Design elements depending on the camera view. Happy Holidays, and keep up the Storytelling!
