Patch 1.5.c: Fixes & Flopsy!

Hey everyone! It's finally happening! As we speak, the team has put out an update that will let you dress up Zoe in the outfit of none other than Flopsy the Lovable Clown!!!

I know a lot of you have been clamouring for this day, so I won't keep you too long, but there are a couple of fixes in today's update as well. Without further barely-contained-Flopsy-excitement, here are the patch notes:

New Content:

- Enabled the Flopsy the Lovable Clown outfit! - Enabled the dark and mysterious Twisted Flopsy outfit!

Fixes:

- Disaster Crowns now correctly appear for all players in Disaster Mode - The text for the Invite Screen now works correctly in all languages - Added missing localization to some dialogue scenes in some languages - Visual and performance improvements to the multiplayer running trails That's all for today! Please keep reporting any issues you run into on the Discord server or the Steam forums! Oh, all right, it's not actually all. There's so much beautiful community art being posted, so I encourage everyone to have a look on our Discord server! Here's some of my favourites lately: I wish I could say I had any self-control, but I can't resist a Weeboh post:
By Ish! Apparently I am supposed to also include non-Weeboh art, so... Oh, this will do nicely! This will do very nicely indeed!
By Sushi!

See you out there in the worlds! /Riza

Patch 1.5.b: Fixes for the run together update!

Hi again, everyone! You seem to have stayed busy in the one day I've been away. The team has also been busy, so they already have a small patch for you!

[img src="https://clan.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/images/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"][/img]

Most importantly, it fixes the problem where mouse users weren't able to buy Abilities from the rest of the crew. Or to back out of the dialogue, either, leaving games locked until you shut it down. Woooops! Anyways, it's all better now, so you can spend your Antisparks to your heart's content!

We also fixed the problem where you would sometimes take damage from passing through the large Agency structure with a... scary burny thing in the middle. Turns out it was some misplaced invisible colliders, and not a clever Agency trap the way I thought... Here's the full list of fixes:

  • The Ability buying screen buttons now work with mouse input again!,

  • Fixed incorrect colliders on the large "Stronghold" obstacles with the lava orb,

  • Skins are now previewed when you consider whether to buy them or not, which should make the choice easier!,

  • Zoe's Weeboh Outfit illustration now correctly displays her hair. Now you get to see those delicious cinnamon buns even when she's wearing the Weeboh hoodie!,

  • Changed steam invite button text from "Open Steam" to "Invite" for clarity,

  • Added some more description texts to the Invite Screen, also for clarity,

  • Fixed dialouges sometimes appearing in the wrong interactions,

  • Fixed a handful of typose,

  • Fixed Weeboh skin boost level and grappling hook visuals (Oh no, the best outfit was broken???),

  • Emote Wheel selection will now close when in a Dialogue or when receiving an item. Emote freely without worrying about freezing the game!,

  • Removed the wonderful but deeply troubled Weeboh Rescue challenge from the encounter pool (at least for now, might come back later).,

Lastly, I know that you've all been looking forward to meeting Flopsy the Lovable Clown, but you'll have to wait just a liiittle bit longer for that. It'll be worth it!

See you out there in the worlds! /Riza

Big Run Together Update - ONLINE CO-OP!

Hello runners! Im thrilled to present you with a new Haste update - this time were bringing you ONLINE MULTIPLAYER CO-OP!

[img src="https://clan.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/images/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"][/img]

Thats right! For a while now, the devs have said that multiplayer would be unlikely, but in secret, theyve spent the last couple of months after release making it possible! (You have no idea how hard its been to keep this from you all!) ((Some of you would also say weve done a terrible job keeping it secret.))

You can now play through the entire game with other Zoes! It's cooperative in that you work together to progress, but we also keep track of player times in levels, which allows for some friendly and pleasant competition.

[previewyoutube="Xep6cefa_lI;full"][/previewyoutube]

You can join friends through Steam's invite system or by using specific join links if you set your room privacy to public. There's no separate mode or anything, you just jump smoothly straight into their game at any point, with every shard and every part of the game playable together! Multiplayer has been designed for up to 4 players. No one will stop you from playing with a whole swarm, but you might need a fast computer and fast internet!

The team has also added skins for Zoe, so it will now be possible to change her outfit and her hat! Skins can be bought with Antisparks from the Fashionable Weeboh, and can be shown off in multiplayer. (Im thinking of asking for a makeover myself!) There are also special skins that can be unlocked by doing special actions, such as completing the story mode or the first level of Disaster Mode.

[img src="https://clan.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/images/44762838/a55d6f2ef4f61c3e25f15a922d592fd0fc93b05a.png"][/img]

Other changes:

  • Some obstacles have had their art updated, making the Agency more intimidating (and visually and technically consistent).

  • We've added a chunk of new character interactions, revealing more of their backgrounds and keeping rest stops and coffee breaks fresher for longer! This means you can get to know me and the crew even better!

Fixes:

  • Added Disaster Mode localisation for Swedish.

  • Once again increased the chance of getting Coffee Interactions in the research outpost. Hopefully it sticks this time!

  • Hitting the pillars of one of the big Agency Platform obstacles no longer turns the main platform into an intangible death trap.

  • Flat Item stat bonuses no longer scale with your metaprogression level for that stat.

  • Added a missing homage to Flopsy the Lovable Clown

Also don't forget to check out our new Haste merch here!

See you out there!

Update: New Disaster Game Mode!

Hi everyone!

Im thrilled to share that the dev team has cooked up something extra exciting for this patch! Ive been told that some of you are craving an extra layer of challenge in Haste (because apparently the imminent destruction of the entire universe wasnt enough!) so I think youll enjoy what theyve got in store for you today. Introducing

Disaster Mode!

Ta-daa! Trust me, its not as scary as it sounds. Its scarier!! Disaster Mode is a new game mode that offers the most intense version of Haste yet!
  • There are 4 distinct levels of difficulty, applied to the Final Shard.
  • The mode adds new dynamic obstacles, such as burning Lava Flowers and more!
  • Various new effects are added to increase difficulty.
You need to complete the Final Shard to unlock the first level of Disaster Mode! Then, you can unlock each new level by completing the previous one. Im not going to give away all the modes secrets here (even though I reeeally want to!) so youll need to find out for yourself what each level has in store

Patch Notes

Fixes
  • Improved Ultrawide support
Thats it for the teams latest updates, so now its time for me to share more of my favourite art from the Discord!
This gorgeous piece is by RocketPotatoL62! I love the colours!!
Ava looks so cool here! This one is by the wonderful Laesu.
Heres one of Zoe in all her speedy glory!! Created by UpsideDown.
Well, thats all from me for now!

I hope your next Haste run is disastrously fun!

Patch 1.3.c: Hotfix!

Hi again, everyone!

There were a couple of small issues that popped up following the latest patch, so the team has prepared a little hotfix.

PATCH NOTES

QoL You'll now be able to choose between playing the same seed or a new seed when you select Restart Shard! Fixes
  • Another fix to Endless music, so that it avoids looping the same song.
  • This one's a bit technical, but Endless music now also uses the Seed Random instead of... some other Random. (I'm sure these are words that make sense to game developers...)
  • Item costs are now correctly reduced for the tutorial so there's no chance of being locked out of progressing!
  • Fixed an issue where choosing Save & Quit from the Fragment Map and then loading could prevent you from continuing your run.
  • The Endless Shard now restores your Health and Lives again based on your setting, the way it's supposed to!
This last issue was quite unexpected, so I thought I would ask the team what causes a bug like that and how it gets fixed. Here's what the developer who was working on it had to say: "... lmfao, I somehow deleted the code that did that" Hope you've enjoyed this insight into the exciting world of game development! Finally, to the ultrawide players out there, I have been told that the team is aware of and looking into the various issues! Things will hopefully improve for you soon!

Patch 1.3.b: Restart shard, balancing and bug fixes!

Hi everyone!

The Haste team is hard at work on some really exciting things, and the first of those things is coming soon! Let's just say it will be a bit of a disaster! (Hm, that sounded a lot better in my head...) In the meantime, I'm here with a small update for you with some balance changes, bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

Restart Shard

Oh, there's now an option to restart a Shard Run directly without stopping by the Hub World! This should be a very welcome addition for a lot of players. Simply choose "Abandon Shard" and you'll get the choice between restarting or going back to the Hub World. Be careful, though! You won't earn Antisparks if you do a quick restart.

Balance Changes

The team has tweaked the difficulty of the Shards quite a bit, to make the difficulty of each Shard more of a curve. Personally, I think they have really improved the pattern, so that most Shards are now a little easier when you start a run (and have no items), but are harder towards the end when you hopefully have a little more item support with you! I have also seen a lot of comments about a "Snake" out there on runs. I've never seen it, so I don't really understand what people are complaining about. Meeting a snake sounds like it would be cute! Anyways, see if you like it better now!

Localization

There were how many lines missing in other languages than English??? Anyways, they should mostly be in now...

Bug fixes,

[mumble] timeline refactor... energy gain rate... save swapping... I don't even know what half of these words mean! Anyways, enjoy the full patch notes here:

Patch Notes,

QoL
  • Added [drumroll] a Reset Shard option! When you choose "Abandon Shard" you can now choose between returning to the Hub World or restarting your current Shard with the same settings. To everyone who already completed "The Machine": we're deeply sorry.,
  • Endless music now changes when the track ends, not immediately every 3 levels. Hope this better protects your sanity on those really long runs!,
  • Added a setting to "Invert Look X-axis",
  • Added a cool-looking opening screen to Shard Runs (This will make a lot of sense in the near future...........),
Balance
  • Balance changes to a number of Shards. They were too hard at the start and too easy by the end!,
  • Slightly reduced the damage from Black Hole Rocks and the Glow Thing in Void Fragments,,
  • Reduced the damage of Snake's beam explosions by 20%,
Fixes
  • Added a bunch of missing localization for other languages than English,
  • Timeline Refactor now also rewinds the End boss final machine timer,
  • Rest Area and Shop: Dying immediately and losing one or more lives, and also skipping other levels, should not happen anymore,
  • Items affecting Energy Gain Rate no longer affect energy usage rate (Wait, they did what??),
  • Brittle Breastplate now triggers health loss on Bad landings too, not just Ok landings, since it was obviously hugely overpowered and desperately needed a nerf...,
  • Fixed an issue where you would keep your items when saving and quitting to the main menu, then immediately swapping to and starting another save slot, where that new save slot does not have a run active (i.e. it's a new save slot, or you're in the hub world),

Now that I'm done with what the team asked me to talk about, I thought I would share some of my favourite community art that's been posted on the Discord recently!

Here's a piece I was particularly fond of:
By Fonka I was also really taken by the linework in this one:
By ish Oh, and- What? When did this happen?? [BLUSH]
By ish Hm... I'm being told that I should maybe show off "some of the other" community art, but I really don't understand what the problem is with these. But fine!
By Egyrm
By Shiromiso
By FiraKnight You can join the Haste discord here. Don't forget about the Haste merch we just launched, you can find it at mightymerch.
I'll be back in a few weeks with a content update with a new game mode for those who want the game to be even harder, it will be disastrous in the best way!

I'll see you out there in the worlds! /Riza

HASTE Devblog #6: Stats, Mod Support & Much More!

Hey everyone!

We're cooking up lots of good stuff for the full release of HASTE, so let's jump right into it!

Lately, the team has been working on an area where you can view your player stats and unlocked items, as well as a meta progression system. You'll also be able to see stats after each Shard run too!
We're improving the tutorial, testing out the endless Shard, and adding new biome variations that can pop up during runs, like this sunset desert biome!
The HASTE Discord is growing and we're so excited to see new demo players in there every day! There's been lots of incredible fanart posted already, along with crazy speedrunning records and mods for the demo. We're thrilled that you're all so excited to get stuck into mods for HASTE, and we wanted to remind you that we're working on Steam Workshop support for the full game!
We're also in the process of finalising the soundtrack, which will be released on Steam and all streaming services when we launch the game! We promise it's not long now...

HASTE Devblog #5: Courier Timelapse & Thank You!!

We wanted to give a massive thank you to everyone who has been playing the HASTE demo!

We've received lots of helpful feedback and we're working hard to make the game even better, thanks to your comments and bug reports. So much love is being put into every element of HASTE, and we're super grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts. At the moment, we're working on new items, improving the flow of the level select screen, trying out some sort of endless mode, more music, environment polish and loads of other stuff! If you haven't already, join the HASTE Discord and let us know what you think! The HASTE devs are having a great time chatting with you all and sharing insights into the game's development, and we've been blown away by all the excitement for the full release.
While we're busy locking in to finish the game (accurate depiction above), we wanted to share a timelapse of the incredible Savannah working on the Courier's model! [previewyoutube=0IDs19QuBU8;full][/previewyoutube] Zoe (A.K.A the Courier) has changed a lot over the course of development, but we really love the look she has now, and our artists have done an amazing job bringing her to life.

[ 2025-03-12 15:07:57 CET ] [ Original post ]

Haste is a high-speed third-person running game, set in a collapsing universe. Race through a variety of worlds, master your movement and use items and abilities to progress through each level before it falls apart around you. The game consists of ten Shards, each featuring a collection of procedurally generated levels that must be completed without fail to unlock the next. You’ll encounter challenges and characters on your journey, seeking answers about what lies behind the destruction, and how to escape it!

FEATURES

  • Third-person high-speed running gameplay

  • Both single player and online co-op running

  • 10 Shards, each featuring a collection of procedurally generated levels that must be completed without fail to advance to the next Shard

  • 90+ Items that let you customize your build for each attempt to clear a Shard

  • A story to explore and a lovable cast of characters to befriend

  • Four spectacular biomes with several different variations

  • 4 abilities to master and 4 different bosses to discover

  • An unlockable endless mode

MASTER YOUR MOVEMENT

Mind-blowing speed is key and every landing counts! Hit the ground running (literally) and you’ll build up speed, but if you fumble it will cost you. You’ll need to think fast and keep track of your ever-changing surroundings to escape before the world crumbles beneath your feet.

ITEMS

In your run you'll be able to collect Sparks to use in the shop levels to manifest items. Items help you customise your run, affecting speed, damage, luck, health and other variables.

PROCEDURAL WORLDS

Speed through procedurally generated levels as you make your way through each Shard, completing every level before you run out of lives to advance to the next. Gather items and experiment with builds to help you on your way. Your journey through the broken worlds will be unique to you as you try to outrun the apocalypse.

CO-OP RUNNING

You can now play through the entire game with other Zoes! It's cooperative in that you work together to progress, but we also keep track of player times in levels, which allows for some friendly and pleasant competition. To keep your friends apart we have unlockable skins!

THE CREW

As Zoe, you’ll meet different characters to aid you on your journey, whether through wisdom, encouragement or items to assist you.
