One Hundred Views of The Gun-dog: Cassie's Quarters

Fellow Crewmates! Today, we continue to introduce the "Gun-dog" and her crew. First, were excited to share a preview of another soundtrack:

    Duty And Discovery

https://youtu.be/QJ4JI84KB-E * The full version of the track will be available as part of the OST after the game releases.

    Cassie's Quarters

Apart from the Captain's Quarters, all crew members' quaters on the Gundog are similar in size and structure. However, even so, Cassie's room stands out in its own unique way.
Those who have played the demo might remember vividly how messy Cassie's room is. With every step, you might kick somethingclothes, a hairdryer, plush toys, books, or even soda cans. This is not how a senior officer's room should look, but considering Cassie's overly carefree personality... it somehow makes sense.

    Cassandra Quinn

In the story, Cassie is the protagonist's lover. They were separated for years due to different missions, but now they are reunited on the Gundog. According to Cassie, the reason she was transferred to the Gundog was due to cutting corners in daily safety management, which led to their ship being quickly compromised during a drillbut this might just be the final straw. Who knows what other troubles shes caused?
In the latter half of the demo, Cassie loses consciousness for unknown reasons, and the crisis aboard the Gundog begins to unfold. As for the connection between the two, please find out in the full version of the game, coming soon! Stay tuned!

One Hundred Views of The Gun-Dog: The Ace Pilot and the First Mate

Fellow Crewmates! First, were excited to share a preview of another soundtrack:

    More Questions Than Answers

https://youtu.be/_rks0FQuRrI * The full version of the track will be available as part of the OST after the game releases. Today's introduction will be a bit different. Instead of starting with the ship's facilities, we will introduce three crew members.

    Ensign Hansen Crwys

Hansen is a "Juno III" mech pilot aboard the Gun-Dog. Due to the limited number of mechs on board, the pilot team is small but elite. Having survived the last war, most pilots who made it this far are highly skilled.
Although just an unknown soldier, Hansen's abilities should not be underestimated. It is said that during the last war, his squad was wiped out except for him, and he fought to the last moment in a nearly destroyed mechits lower body severely damaged, thrusters operating at less than 10%, and only the right monitor still functioning. He was almost treated as space debris after attempting to seize a friendly sniper weapon. After being rescued from the cockpit, he was so overexcited that the medic had to inject him with a near-lethal dose of sedatives to calm him down.

    Ensign Haru Rumney

Also a "Juno III" mech pilot, Haru has a very good relationship with Hansen. After all, maintaining a certain level of synergy is part of the pilot team's combat effectiveness.
Haru is a lot more relaxed than Hansen but carries themselves with the same swagger and self assuredness that he does, the kind of confidence you get from going into some pretty tough scrapes involving 15 metre tall weapons of war and coming out alive. Although they're easier to get along with they still have some pretty bad habits. Smoking in the mess hall is their most offensive trait. No one wants a burger that tastes like tobacco.

    Lieutenant Vanessa Lord

In the previously released demo, First Mate Captain Vanessa Lord was also a standout character, though more in a negative direction.
Many are deceived by her appearance, thinking she is a disciplined, reliable "class monitor" type. However, after the Gun-Dog experienced a positional malfunction causing a complete power outage, her true nature gradually revealed itself. In the after story, will she become an unstable factor on the ship, or will she firmly stand on the same side as the protagonist? Find out after the game's release!

One Hundred Views of The Gun-dog: The Captain's Quarter

Fellow Crewmates! Today, we continue introducing the Gundog and her crew. First, were excited to share a preview of another soundtrack:

    Darkness And Deliberation

https://youtu.be/QFjViwDpvuE * The full version of the track will be available as part of the OST after the game releases. Those who have played the demo will be very familiar with this track. It accompanies you when the Gundog experiences an unknown malfunction, causing a complete power outage. Here, we revisit the tense feeling of groping in the dark to find a way out.

    Captain's Quarters

The Captain's Quarters, being a private space, are rarely accessed by anyone other than the captain. Although some officers use this space for discussions, consultations, and other informal meetings, Merys Bartermews, the captain of the Gundog, is clearly not one of them. Crew members seldom see her outside the bridgeor more accurately, they rarely see her at all, even on the bridge, as most duties are managed by the first mate.
The Captain's Quarters on the Gundog consist of a bedroom, bathroom, and office, which is a fairly standard configuration in the military, but it is much more luxurious compared to the rooms of other crew members. Captain Bartermews' room appears unremarkable: a star map of the Wooden Star Sector hangs on the wall, various documents are piled up, and a bottle of whiskey is always on the desk. Although alcohol is technically contraband on board, many captains secretly bring some aboard, one of the few privileges they enjoy.

    Captain Merys Bartermews

Many captains enjoy recounting war stories from their past, but Captain Bartermews is the opposite. She rarely speaks of her past, almost like a fresh graduate from the officer academy. However, many crew members know that she survived the last war in its entirety.
Generally, surviving officers are a scarce resource after a war and are rarely assigned to lightweight, high-speed patrol ships like the Gundog. As for why Captain Bartermews has chosen to serve on the Gundog, only a few senior officials might know. Stay tuned for more insights into the Gun-dog and her crew!

One Hundred Views of The Gun-Dog - Fire Control

Fellow Crewmates! Today, we continue introducing the Gun-Dog and her crew. First, were excited to share a preview of another soundtrack:

    Your New Orders

https://youtu.be/Cs3HqWVfz6k * The full version of the track will be available as part of the OST after the game releases. This track appears in the latter half of the game, during a pivotal moment when the protagonist team faces a life-altering decision. Accompanied by this music, they will overcome their inner obstacles and take the hardest steps to resolve the crisis.

    Fire Control

As a lightweight, high-speed patrol ship, the Gun-Dog has forgone heavy armamentsincluding a main cannonretaining only close-range patrol cannons and a few missile launchers for minimal self-defence. With no weapons requiring manual operation or optical targeting, the fire control system is almost entirely automated, making it one of the most streamlined systems aboard.
As a result, after the war ended, the Fire Control Room became one of the most peaceful places on the shipused mostly for drills. While the crew often jokes that the fire control team does nothing all day, deep down, everyone hopes they never have to.

    Warrant Officer Dylan Dees

Dylan is perhaps the most mysterious person aboard the Gun-Dog, spending most of his time in Fire Control and rarely even visiting the Mess Hall. Given that fire control is essentially a quiet, low-maintenance post, many see it as a cushy job.
On the rare occasions you cross paths with him, hes usually wearing headphones. Strike up a conversation, and it wont be long before he starts talking about his love for obscure rock musicand his disdain for contemporary pop hits. Rumour has it he was reassigned to the Gun-Dog after missing an order on his previous ship because he was too focused on his music. If he makes the same mistake again, he might be stuck on ground duty though he doesnt seem to care. For Dylan, all that matters is having a quiet space to listen to his music. Stay tuned for the next episode of "One Hundred Views of the Gun-Dog"!

One Hundred Views of The Gun-Dog - Sick Bay

Fellow Crewmates! Today, we continue introducing the Gun-Dog and her crew. First, were excited to share a preview of another soundtrack:

    Casting a Shadow

https://youtu.be/FPBsC5eSWbI * The full version of the track will be available as part of the OST after the game releases. In Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog, the crew is tasked with investigating a mysterious signal. As this track plays, they venture into the unknownwho sent the signal, and what dangers await? The truth will be revealed in the story to come.

    Sick Bay

Though the last war has long ended, the Sick Bay aboard the Gun-Dog remains anything but quiet. While life-threatening injuries are rare, the focus has shifted to mental health support, chronic illness management, and maintaining the crews overall well-being.
Some crew members still battle severe PTSD from the war. Others struggle with long-term effects of working in a no-daylight environment or digestive issues caused by low gravity. The Sick Bay remains one of the ships most essential areas.

    Dr. Seifer Rosarium

Dr. Rosarium, the ships military doctor, is highly skilled but prefers silence. No one knows the full story behind his mechanical eye and hand, but rumors persist.
Some say his prosthetics conceal surgical tools or hidden syringes. However, spend enough time with him, and youll realizeDr. Rosarium is no tech expert. He cant even figure out how to use a datapad. But when it comes to fixing people, hes far better than fixing machines. Stay tuned for more insights into the Gun-Dog and her crew!

The demo will be temporarily taken offline.

Fellow crewmates! The full-color demo of SFS: The Gun-Dog has been live for five months now, and we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to everyone who played the demo and shared their feedback. Your support and passion have been truly inspiring. Weve carefully reviewed all feedback, including community comments and survey responses. Many of the suggested improvements have already been implemented in the upcoming full release. However, the current demo doesnt yet reflect these changes. As a result, weve decided to temporarily take the demo offline. Once it has been updated to match the full versions improvements, well make it available again for new players to download. [Players who have already downloaded the demo will still be able to play it without interruption.] Well continue listening to your feedback and using your valuable suggestions to further refine the game. Thank you once again for your support! The SFS: The Gun-Dog Team

War is over. War is just beginning.

Planetary Calendar 214. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War. Our protagonist, scarred from the loss of their crewmates in the war, is re-assigned to the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog as it’s dispatched with orders to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian Space.

Unknown to the Gun-Dog’s crew, a new danger looms deep in the ocean of stars, threatening not just the Gun-Dog but all her crew.

Take on the role of the Gun-Dog's security officer as you attempt to save the ship from an unknown assailant whilst navigating the paranoia, conspiracies and vendettas that break out amongst the crew. As camaraderie falls apart can you overcome the challenges that await?

The Game - A love letter to retro anime and 80s Sci-Fi

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a visual novel adventure in the spirit of classic PC-9800 titles. Space Colony Studios strives to create an "era-accurate" game that exudes retro vibes in every way, from the text to the visual effects. As the Jovian patrol ship sails into the darkness among the stars, the players will feel like they are on an adventure in an 80s Sci-Fi as they solve the mystery they find themselves in.

The Story – A new threat emerges from the void.

Humans have long since freed themselves from the grasp of gravity, but they are still unable to escape the hold of war.

It’s year 214 of the Planetary Calendar. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War and an uneasy peace persists throughout the solar system. The Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog is sent on a reconnaissance mission to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian space. What starts as a routine assignment quickly escalates into a battle for survival as an unknown threat terrorises the crew.

The Gameplay – Investigate. Interact. Analyse. Advance.

Utilising traditional point-and-click adventure mechanics, during your time on the Gun-Dog, you can navigate various locations on the ship, examine the details of the richly realised backgrounds or talk with the different crew members on board. You will need to listen closely to the characters' words to reveal important clues or duplicitous intentions and keep your eyes peeled for key items and interactive elements in the backgrounds that you can use to advance the story.

The Place - Adventure in a entirely explorable ship!

The main stage of the first instalment in the "Stories from Sol" series, as the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog heads into deep space it serves as the setting for the game’s story. It has been exhaustively realised. Rich and evocative descriptions of the ship, including the constant rumble of the engine room, the bustle of the bridge, the silence of space pair with an extensive range of scenes that have been meticulously designed and animated in detail to deliver an immersive experience. Inspired by the best that anime has to offer the ship even features "Armoured Frames", mechanised, human shaped, weapons of war.

The Characters – Get on board with the crew of the Gun-Dog !

All stories are about people and the cast of “The Gun-Dog” bring the story to life, so much so that their charm and charisma convinced the team at Astrolabe Games to board the Gun-Dog and sign up to be the publisher. From the elegant yet distant Captain Bartermews, to the bubbly Lieutenant Commander Cassandra Quinn, to the assertive and domineering Chief Mackenzie Cathays, “The Gun-Dog” features an extensive cast of characters for you to meet. Each crew member has a distinct personality, role and history. Get to know them and their quirks and decide whether to work with or against them to unravel the mystery that lies at the story’s heart.
