Leaderboards We now introduce global leaderboards. The rules are simple. There is one leaderboard for each planet. Get the highest total score on a planet, while retrieving the quest item, and you will be the top [strike]dog[/strike] Viking. Only runs done from patch 1.2.0 and onward will be included in the leaderboards. Good luck and may the (uncorrupted) Odin favor you! This update has been a long time coming!
We have just released a new Playtest version on Steam, available to anyone interested.
All you have to do is visit our Discord channel to request an access key if you don't already have it!
If you choose to try it out, we would greatly appreciate if you also take a small moment to drop some feedback on our feedback-channel on Discord. This will help us improve the game and make sure you get a better experience playing it!
Feel free to record and share your gameplay with us, that is always appreciated and can be a very helpful insight into how the game is played!
Take note that the current Playtest is a limited version containing only the first two levels, and a handful of upgrade options. You can think of it as a limited access Demo of the game.
Remember to follow and wishlist the game on Steam as well, so you get notified on future updates and when the game is released!

We've finally managed to release a new version of the Steam Demo!
There's been quite a few changes since the previous version:
Weapons now have ammunition and reloading, meaning players must conserve their bullets to be prepared for the boss fights.
Ammunition drops from enemies.
Weapon feel has been improved, especially the shotgun should feel a whole lot better now!
We've added a separate aim sensitivity slider for weapon aiming, which should make aiming with the sniper a bit more forgivable.
Enemies drop a lot more resources, reducing the "grind" of running around mining them.
Towers are split into two damage categories, physical and magical:
- Physical damage towers, which are weak vs shielded enemies, but strong vs unshielded.
- Magical damage towers, which are weak vs unshielded enemies, but strong vs shielded.
In addition there is a third tower category of type "Totems". Totems don't do any damage, but they act as tactical support.
At the moment there is a totem that slows enemy movement, totems that weaken enemy defenses, and a totem that increase the amount of energy gained from killing enemies.
We've also optimized a lot functionality and corrected a bunch of bugs.
Some things we're focusing on next:
- Implementing custom input
- Proper support for gamepads
- Special secondary attacks for weapons
- Dodge and shield parry
- Ultimate attacks that can be purchased with resources (e.g. missile strike, mass confusion, resupply etc... still working out the details here)
- Vikingpedia: an ingame encyclopedia with information about enemies, bosses, towers, resources, lore, recommended tactics etc...

We're still hard at work on the game and making some good progress. Our focus lately has been the level design of the remaining worlds and tweaking the towers and enemies to enhance the game's tactical elements.
We now have the basic level design in place for Alvheim, Asgard and Nifelheim. We're also well on the way with Muspelheim and Helheim.
Tower Updates
We're doing a bit of reconfiguring of the Towers, mainly making sure that each tower has a proper place in the tactical gameplay.
We've now split the main towers into two categories: physical damage and arcane damage. We're doing intensive testing and will provide more information on this soon!
We've added "support" Totems that can apply effects to enemies and players within range (for instance apply slow debuff, reduce damage resistance etc...).
Enemies will then have various abilities and attacks that can be countered using a tactical combination of towers and totems.
We have a bunch of stuff in the works, so make sure you Wishlist the game on Steam and join our Discord to get information about the progress!
Feedback
There has been quite a few people uploading playthroughs of The Fate of Baldr Demo on Youtube, which is supercool! It gives us a unique look into how people are experiencing the game, as well as what works and - perhaps more importantly - doesn't.
We've also gotten a lot of very useful feedback on discord, huge thanks to all who did this!
We're continuously considering all of the feedback given and are making changes wherever we believe it makes sense.
We're aiming to release an updated version of the Steam Demo sometime in the near future. We'll be making announcements on all relevant media to let you know.
