The Multiplayer Sandbox Is Ready / Kickstarter Campaign Announced!

Hello all,

We've been hard at work on Dino Run 2 since the last announcement, and we're happy to report that the Multiplayer Sandbox is ready to distribute to all backers, patrons and funders. We start rolling it out today!

If you supported the campaign in the past, be on the lookout for an email, Discord ping, Kickstarter update or Patreon post in the coming days.

We're also about to launch a Kickstarter campaign on September 2 to help us get to Early Access launch, and you can follow it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pixeljam/the-dino-run-2-early-access-campaign

Everyone that pledges to this campaign will get immediate access to the Multiplayer Sandbox, regardless of the campaign reaching its funding goal.

First Run Test Revealed!

Sandbox Mega-Update!

Hello all, We recently made a major update to the Sandbox Alpha, available to all current supporters: Raptor:

  • Added tail whap ability
  • Improved raptor collisions
  • Added several new idle animations
  • Raptor's feet now adapt to terrain while idle
  • Raptor now blinks procedurally
  • Added crouching
  • Added pounce animation
  • Added vanity station for changing the raptor's color palette and patterns
Sandbox:
  • Added several new placeable objects
  • Added several decorative placeables (Ferns, trees, etc.)
  • Added a flavor selector for placeables (bouncy, icy, etc)
  • Added palette swapping and flavor variations to almost all placeable objects
Misc:
  • Expanded the start cave into a new sanctuary
  • Added a debug console
  • Dragonflies now come in several colors
  • Supporters list is updated automatically

A Wild Dino Run 2 Spotted On Steam! Read This And Get Ready...


Dino Run 2 has been a long time coming.


We dreamt it up over 10 years ago, ran an over-ambitious kickstarter for it in 2013 (which did not reach its goal), and followed it up with a very realistic campaign in 2019, which saw enough success to get us tinkering with the game's basic systems from 2019 to 2022.
Development was rocky during that time though, to put it mildly. Mid-2022 we pushed the RESET button and started from scratch. With the help of some new team members, the success of Nova Drift and the ongoing crowdfunding campaign, we have arrived where we are now, the SANDBOX ALPHA, which is totally playable and a solid foundation to the larger Dino Run 2 experience:
However, it's not ready for Steam yet. We'll be updating the current playable over the next year or so getting it *just* right for its big debut. Dino Run 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the original prehistoric multiplayer platformer / racing game.

FEATURES

Choose from several species to play as, like the classic raptor, rolly stegosaurus, gliding archaeopteryx and beyond.

Customize your dino with a huge assortment of hats, helmets, skin colors and patterns.

Speed across a dynamically-generated prehistoric terrain, 2D platformer-style. No two levels are ever the same and you often have multiple paths to choose from.

Outrun a pyroclastic wall of doom that's constantly on your tail. Slip up or stop to admire the scenery and you just might go extinct. Beat the doom wall and find your sanctuary!

Collect hidden super eggs to rack up DNA, used to upgrade your stats between levels.

Earn bones and use them to unlock new areas of the game and other perks.

Race your friends in multiplayer matches, or just hang out in the lobby and chat.

Use sandbox mode to create your own physics contraptions, obstacle courses and mini-games.

Q: When is Dino Run 2 getting released on Steam Early Access?

A: We expect the game to launch on Early Access in 2026.

Q: What's the current state of the game?

A: It's playable, but not enough to warrant a Steam release yet. We have a robust multiplayer physics sandbox and most of the foundation established.

Q: How will the game improve on the original?
