We have a special update ready for our international fans! Thanks to the efforts of XSEED Games and their affiliates, you can now enjoy Freedom Planet in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Korean! - Additional language options are selectable through the Options menu. A language selection menu will also appear at bootup if you have never selected one before. - Screen transitions and fade effects have been color corrected to use true black instead of 8,0,0. This also fixes a visual quirk during the holodragon scene where the borders of the dragon's horn sprites can be seen. - In Adventure mode, Zao's dialog during the schmup sequence will now play properly if you beat Thermal Base and watch all the cutscenes after it without skipping. (Previously he wouldn't speak at all.) - Fixed a glitch in Milla's Adventure Mode that allowed her to jump to Fortune Night after Aqua Tunnel when skipping a specific scene.
We are happy to announce that we are bringing Freedom Planet to the Nintendo Switch this fall, with our partner, XSEED Games!

We're ready to unleash the next update that makes some noteworthy graphical improvements and adds an Adventure mode for Milla. Let's see how this goes! If you would like to keep playing the original version of the game with only Lilac and Carol's Adventure modes, select "1.20.4 - Right before the Milla Adventure update" in the BETAS tab. (Right-click Freedom Planet in your Library and select Properties.) The following is a compilation of all of the most significant changes between the last public release and this one. General: - Milla is now available to play in Adventure mode. She has several new cutscenes in addition to an altered ending sequence to accommodate the fact that she's the one fighting Brevon. - Because of Milla being playable in Adventure mode, it now has an identical character selection screen as Classic mode once she has been unlocked. - In Final Dreadnought 3, the stage ends for Milla when she crosses under the tube where the Kingdom Stone was, instead of the right side of the room. This is to accommodate for the cutscene that now takes place here in Adventure mode and will likely result in faster clear times (by less than a second, but still notable). - Milla no longer has to deal with the crosshairs in the red hallway before the final boss. - The required crystals for the Gem Hoarder achievement has been lowered from 7000 to 6000. - The dialog cuts from the Wii U version have been carried over. Only the cutscene break between Relic Maze and Fortune Night is affected, plus one line after Fortune Night. See "Adventure Mode dialog cuts" for details. Tweaks: - Improved the shading on characters and enemies that were lacking it including Mayor Zao, Aqua Tunnel's boss and various enemies. - In Milla's cutscene before Relic Maze, it's no longer possible for her to get a 1up by collecting the crystals she runs over. The crystals still count towards your total crystal count, however. - In the intro cutscene after Brevon says "My turn," the frequency of his blade noises has been reduced a bit. - The player now regenerates life during the Battle Glacier schmup on Easy and Casual. Fixes: - Carol's hitboxes on her attacks would sometimes not register. - In Fortune Night as Carol, pausing the game in the area between defeating the midboss and entering the mall would make the music fade out indefinitely. - In Final Dreadnought 3, the end boss's hitbox would linger after death, meaning that players with a fire shield would repeatedly hear the hit sound if they overlapped the hitbox during the cutscene. - The game could be paused during the score tally in Final Dreadnought 4 as Milla, causing the results screen to glitch out. - Pausing and selecting Next Stage during the cutscene where the heroes talk to Gong in Shang Tu Palace would make the music in Jade Creek fail to load. - Pausing and select Skip Scene in the cutscene where Lilac is being healed in Shang Tu Palace would cause the invincibility music to play in Pangu Lagoon instead of the normal stage theme. - Exiting a stage during Milla's Super Shield Burst would make other characters unable to climb ladders until she was either selected again or the game was restarted. - Death counter on the file select screen has been increased to allow up to four digits instead of two. - Patched up all the holes in the ceiling in Trap Hideout. - In Fortune Night, rolling arches in the first section would sometimes make it impossible for Milla to land on the ground when touched during her hover move. - Dragon Valley's score tally now properly activates if you somehow skip the end boss. Adventure Mode dialog cuts: - The treehouse movie scene has been shortened significantly for Lilac and Carol. (Unessential filler) - The "space cooties" dialog where Lilac explains the origin of dragons has been cut. It now simply jumps to Carol's question about why aliens are interested in Avalice. (Unnecessary exposition since Zao basically says the same stuff later on) - Torque's tent scene now fades out when the girls do their victory animation. (Torque's request to keep their mission a secret never comes into play during the story. The rest is unessential filler) - In the Zao dinner scene, removed Lilac's comment on how Milla and Carol both agree on something for once. (References an event in the story that was cut early in development)

The first DLC set includes Milla's Adventure mode and Torque as a playable character, and will be released on PC/Mac/Linux this December. Spade requires additional content and will be released sometime next year. We will try our hardest for a prompt Wii U release for both updates, but we can't be certain about it until it's submitted. Stay classy, and thank you for your continued support and patience! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjM5xsfMgM

For the first time ever, Freedom Planet is officially supported on Mac and Linux! We extend a warm welcome to all the Apples and Tuxes who've been waiting patiently for a proper port to their OS of choice. As an extra bonus, all three versions of the game have been optimized to run at a smoother framerate and support a larger variety of gamepads.
Be sure to reconfigure your controller in the Options menu when the update is complete. Even if the displayed buttons are correct, it may not recognize them until they're redefined.
There is a new file in the game folder called gamecontrollerdb.txt which allows us to manually add controller types to Freedom Planet's database and customize them. We will try and update it every now and then as we discover new controllers.
Finally, if you want to keep the old PC version of the game, we have created a new Beta branch for the previous version. Right-click the game in your Library and select Properties, select the BETAS tab, and pick 1.20.2 from the dropdown list.
Have at it Chasers, and thanks for playing!
Freedom Planet has been Turbocharged! Mac and Linux versions of the game are now available for testing on Steam, as well as an optimized PC version that runs at a silky smooth 60fps more consistently. To try out the new builds, right click the game in your Steam library and select Properties. Click the BETAS tab and choose the Beta branch. The version of the game that's appropriate for your operating system should download automagically. If everything checks out, we'll push all of the new versions live in a few days. Enjoy!
Hello Chasers! We've got a special update ready. Along with the usual fixes and tweaks, the Gallery has received an important upgrade. Check the notes below for details! Changes - You can now open the cards you've collected in the Gallery! Select any card and press A to open it, and it will reveal either a music track, sound effect or character sketch. Press A again to play/view the unlocked content. There are some cards that are "locked" until you complete the game once, to avoid musical spoilers. - A short cutscene has been added to explain how Lilac, Carol and Milla escape from the royal palace. - Added a hidden area to the top of Aqua Tunnel's first map. - Milla's swimming animation has been updated to look less like her running animation. (Thanks to r543 for the base sprites) - Copyright info and credits have been updated. Fixes - (Attempted) Invincibility music playing in cutscenes on rare occasions - In Dragon Valley, collecting a 1up or Invincibility crystal and then traveling to the next map before the 1up/invincibility music ends would result in no music being played on the following map - (Attempted) Relic Maze's boss would rarely keeps its red eyes after recovering from a hit, allowing it to be hit again without destroying the arms - On rare occasions, Stinger Nests in Pangu Lagoon would explode endlessly after being defeated - Pausing and unpausing during the cutscene right after Sky Battalion would cause the camera to pan right - Collecting a 1up in the Final Dreadnought maps, or anywhere the 1up theme is not supposed to play (such as certain boss battles) while the invincibility music is playing would cause the music to play indefinitely - Skipping the ending through the pause menu would bring you back to Final Dreadnought 2 - Dying in a completed save file will no longer cause your death counter to rise - The shadow on Lilac's cursor in the Mahjong minigame was incorrect
