What if you could hit a golf ball so hard it went into orbit?
Now you can find out. In Celestial Golf, you will learn the techniques used in real space flight to get your ball through a wild golf course throughout the solar system, and beyond.
Realistic orbital mechanics
Celestial Golf is designed to teach actual orbital mechanics — the laws discovered by Newton which govern the motion of the planets and space craft — in a simplified 2D environment. An intuitive planning interface allows you to visualize the trajectory of the ball and develop a real understanding of the physics of gravity in space, from a quick slice on the Moon, to a years-long journey to Pluto.
Explore the real solar system
Set in our solar system, with planet bodies created from real NASA terrain data, you will gain an appreciation of the many celestial sights out in the cosmos, from afar, and up close, as you bounce the ball over the mountains of Mars, and through the rings of Saturn. You can fully explore the equator of every planet and many major moons and bodies in the solar system.
An epic journey
The eighteen holes of the celestial golf course will take you from the relative comfort of the lunar surface and the Earth, to the surface of the sun, and out into interstellar space. Every hole is designed to introduce a new concept or mechanic, so there is no grinding or repetition, just one short, sweet ride.
If you have been following the development of the game, now is your chance to play it! I\'ve set this up as a \"playtest\" (rather than a demo) to reflect that it is still in development and not polished. But it is now in a presentable state and I wanted to let as many people as possible play the game and give feedback.
Here is a brand new trailer:
To play the game, go to the https://store.steampowered.com/app/3965730/Celestial_Golf\"" style="color:#bb86fc;text-decoration:none;">store page and click \"Join the Playtest\", and you will immediately be granted access. Then install it as you would a normal Steam game.
This is a demo version with nine levels which are arranged as a tutorial to slowly teach you the mechanics. It is intended that you start at the beginning and play through in order, however, in this build, all levels are unlocked from the main menu, should you wish to jump around.
The playtest gathers data and feedback which I can use to improve the game, in two ways:
By passively collecting anonymous and aggregated metrics about various per-level stats, such as how many strokes and how much time is taken. (You can opt out of this from the welcome screen or Settings.)
[/*]Through a short survey which you can fill out from the \"Take The Survey\" button on the main menu. If you could fill this out after you finish (whether you complete the demo or not) that would be super cool.
[/*]
If you experience any issues, or require help, you can get in touch either using the \"Send Feedback\" button in the game, or over on the Steam forums .
I really hope you enjoy Celestial Golf Playtest and can\'t wait to bring you more in 2026.
Happy holidays, and enjoy!
Matt
