You play as a telepath trapped in a small facility whose only means of escape is to take control of the minds of the facility’s staff. The facility is aware of possible telepathic behaviour but is unaware you already have these powers. 

You’ll need to be careful who you speak to, what you say, and how you act. Should the facility staff become too suspicious overall, you’ll be discovered. Unfortunately your powers are also very limited in your current state. You’ll have a limited amount of time in each mind. The stronger the mind, the less time you’ll have. Stay in a mind too long and you’ll cause a psychotic break, which will, of course, lead to your eventual discovery. 

Balance your abilities to keep suspicion low, explore the facility, and uncover the truth about your existence as you find out how to escape from this unknown predicament.

The Day(ish) After Release: Fixes and Small Changes

Heres a list of changes and fixes that were made. (Possible spoilers ahead):

- Removed references to cut content in Itsuki\'s dialogue.

- minor hint related updates and old content updates to Katia\'s dialogue

- fixed some issues with the door displaying the wrong messages after a failed scan

- add a few better hints and info regarding security in the facility (being intentionally vague)

- added audio cues to the doors in the maze so you can hear when you\'ve successfully opened a door and which direction it\'s coming from (if your speakers that allow)

- fixed area tracking issue with time not pausing in the server center maze and tutorial not popping up in server center maze

- fixed issue with psychosis tutorial not saving and repeatedly spamming players with the tutorial every time it would start

- fixed issue with security zones starting disabled (if no save file or unmodified). All should be enabled at the beginning of a new game.

- Add full screen launch to the game. You can still minimize and shrink if you prefer.

- Added a \"Skip Cutscenes\" option to the pause menu so you can move right past those gold shells in repeat plays. In future updates we\'ll make sure that automatically toggles after you\'ve viewed each cutscene once in a new run.

- made sure holding the shift key (sprinting) won\'t decrease mind stability faster unless your character is moving.

- added a power level warning to the night transition scene. trigger is dependent on the number of characters you control.

RELEASE DAY! Manipulation is out.

After 8 months of hard work our first every indie game is ready to play. We hope you enjoy our many many hours of debugging, playtesting, design, writing, artwork, etc. It\'s been a crazy journey and we hope to bring you more games in the near future!

We do intend on keeping this game up to date and there\'s still lots of changes coming. Here\'s a list of our planned updates:

  • Compatibility and Quality of Life: Will add controller compatibility, Steam Deck compatibility, a proper settings menu with things like audio adjustments, etc. And as I\'m typing I realize we don\'t have a proper credits in the game. That will also be added to this update.

  • Lively Facility: We want the facility to feel more alive, diverse, and responsive. We want to enhance dialogues between and among NPCs and the player. We want to add some unique encounters and one time events between escape attempts since it makes sense that different things might be happening throughout your attempts. We\'d like to add a few more interactable objects, some new ways to find hints and clues, add some more depth and lore to the facility\'s story, and much more. We\'ll also be implementing ideas from the suggestion box here as well!

  • Enhanced Minigame: We\'d like to overhaul the mind control minigame a little bit. Adding some diversity by offering different kinds of minigames, allowing players to change the difficulty of the game, and other similar things. We may look into adding some new puzzles and bringing back a second way to solve the final task that we originally cut from the game (depends on demand).

We hope to release all of these updates, including any bug fixes that may become necessary, over the next month or two.

New Update: Save Systems and Finished Game

Edit: This will likely be delayed a day or two. Waiting on some of the excellent problem solvers at Steam Support. lol.

I can\'t even begin to break down the number of bugs that were fixed. Let alone the number of changes that were made to the end of the game. Though anyone who has played the game would be unable to notice since the final 1/3 of the game was completely unaccessible to players thanks to an array of bugs. Thank you to everyone who\'ve helped by simply playing the game during these early stages so far.

After 100+ hrs of work (from one dev) in the past 10 days, we\'re happy to announce that the game is not only finished and fully playable to the end, but also features a simple, single file save system. Every discovered and known bug has been fixed and stress tested through and through as well.

We\'re nearly ready for the full release in 5 days! The only things left to is some compatibility and quality of life adjustments. But if you\'re part of our Early Access community you can finally finish the game properly, and you don\'t need to do it in one sitting anymore. If you haven\'t played since before the inventory update then this will be a very different experience for you.

New Update: Inventory Systems!

We\'ve put together a simple inventory system in order to track which objects each character is holding onto! It\'ll keep track between mind swaps and you\'ll be able to see it next to your pager. You can hold up to three items at once per character you control. You can drop items wherever you\'re standing at any time and pick them up with a different character. This should help you as you explore and navigate the facility and allows for a bit more creativity in accomplishing various tasks.

We\'ve also prepared a save system that will allow you to put the game away and come back later. Not exactly revolutionary, I know. But it\'ll be nice be able to pick up where you left off! Still a roguelite too. No save spamming. Only one save file allowed.

EARLY ACCESS is out Now!

Our Early Access release is out now.

If you\'re unfamiliar with Early Access no worries! It\'s pretty simple. The game is about 90% done, but fully playable. It\'s going to be missing a level of polish that you might expect from a full release. Releasing to Early Access gives us the opportunity to put on all those final layers of polish while receiving feedback from early supporters about the game! This allows us to finish and tailor the game much more the the player\'s experience.

For us, Early Access means we get to embrace a player-driven \"Feature Creep\". For more details on this see our Steam Page and look for the \"Why Early Access?\" questions in the blue box.

If you prefer a perfect flawless game, maybe hold off until December (our full release).

But if you want to help us in the final stages of development and brainstorm some new ideas with us, then this is your chance!

Thanks either way. This is our first ever game and it\'s an exciting process!

28 fixes and improvements: Two More Days of Play-Testing Left!

Weve made a ton of changes and fixes to the game over the past week or so! And were confident theres more bugs to find. If youve got time over the next few days wed love your help. Play the game, fill out a survey, and get a free copy of the game! Its our only way to compensate for your playtesting time. :)

Playtesting will officially close on 10/31 at 4pm (PT) Heres a list of changes and fixes that were made. (Possible spoilers ahead): \n- players could move at 10x speed after skipping the end of cutscene.\n- players were unable to control other character\'s minds until dying at least once\n- players would lose access to learned codenames after interacting with the doctor\'s door. \n- added the ability to leave mind after viewing it without having to walk away.\n- fixed 4 typos and removed an issue that would cause \"else\" from if/else statements to appear in dialogue\n- players were unable to progress past the doctor\'s desk due to a dialogue bug during transition to the facility at night.\n- when reading mind and selecting open dialogue, the game would not freeze properly and would allow you to move while inside dialogue ui\n-** added a main menu button**\n- game would freeze after restarting if you opened the pause menu and pressed enter after dying.\n- allowed pause menu to show up in more scenes (press ESC) to pause any time\n- made the kitchen doorway opaque (considering simply removing the wall)\n- fixed various odd, ui/button mechanics\n- added a close button to readable items (you can also just walk out of them any time)\n- added a final 20s countdown as you near psychosis \n- extended the amount of time you have in each mind, as well as the penalty as mind fortitude increases (to balance increased time) \n- fixed some weird, spammy stuff going on with the 40min survey pop up\n- overhauled portrait buttons! Hover over them to see the time remaining until psychosis. Theyll also scale up and shake and show time remaining every time your mental condition decreases. \n- enhanced a few dialogues to give better hints regarding who might open up to who. \n- talking to Linda as Avery will now trigger a different response so she doesnt gossip about him to his face (fixed a few of these for different characters too) \n- character portraits will hide temporarily when you see a characters thoughts and available actions \n- psychotic break would continue going off through several different scenes when it wasnt supposed to. \n- fixed lots of typos \n- updated collision on all objects for less snagging and awkward navigation overall \n- fixed a couple of visual bugs causing assets to show over the character \n- pause menu didnt fully pause while in the mind control game \n- update the door security system: door panels now say which character is needed to access, otherwise you just need the security level. \n- fixed a handful of dialogue system bugs causing crashes or displaying parts of if else statements \n- tracking of mind stability in and out of the server center is now stable and reliable (hopefully) \nI think thats all of it! Thanks again to everyone who found these. I know it was rough at times. You should be able to play through at least the first half of the game (I really hope) almost completely bug free. lol.
