HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT: This is a Dadaist game, the first of its kind. Hopefully not the last.

Dadaism is an early 20th-century avant-garde, anti-establishment movement that emerged as a protest against the senselessness of the politics of its time. Characterized by its embrace of the illogical, irrational, and absurd, Dadaists challenged traditional artistic, social, and cultural conventions, ultimately influencing the Surrealists.

In the face of the dichotomy between the current political/ideological chaos and the sheer gall of the ineptitude of our corrupt leaders, both nationally and globally, and the tightening stranglehold of tyrannical power-grabs & far-reaching censorship while political assassinations and coverups are being carried out with obvious patsies and tampered-if-not-withheld evidence, and the blatant lies pushed through the bowels of the media by tech companies working for private government organizations who in turn have been shown to be blackmailed by foreign interests who are exploiting us and using our government to further the violent ends of their own religious delusions...

Let's just say the State of affairs is on a spiral of decline far steeper than it was when Dadaism first formed. In response, the culture has shifted. Everything is more emotionally cataclysmic, spiritually catatonic, and psychologically castrated. it's only natural for a human response to reflect this darkness through grim absurdity. Keep the blood flowing and continue about your life as you normally would while this is happening.

The plot thickens… (And congeals)

The world is ending in chaos and no one cares. Through a series of surreal, interactive tableaux, a Dadaist, apocalyptic narrative is told. Not from a singular perspective but through a motley of sights from all walks of life. 

The Gameplay Loop:

  • Increase the amount of blood you have by collecting it in a bucket.

  • Using only your computer-mouse, harvest living matter: Trap rats, dig through meat to find maggots, rip through the slabs with a chainsaw to create easily digestible chunks.

  • Upgrade your tools with your harvested stock.

  • Keep it going. More blood means more tools, more tools means more blood and you need more blood. You always need more blood.

  • And continue about your life as you normally would while this is happening. The game is meant to be played alongside your normal, routine-use of your computer. Reply to emails, take video calls, do whatever you normally do while you play to get the full experience.

Features:

  • Resizable game-space! You decide how much of the screen the game covers. Using your computer's capability for spawning see-through windows, the game stays front-and-center while you work, study and stalk your prey! You can even play other games behind it!

  • Nonlinear progression through horrifying, lore-rich chapters in different environments and skins! (literally, skins! Some flesh and fat too if you're into that!)

  • Systemic gameplay where using items effectively means more blood faster, and more story progression sooner!

  • Unique combination of the clicker-idler with interactive fiction genre! The fiction is optional and is something you find through gameplay.

  • Full localization support for supported languages, even in the demo!

  • An online Leaderboard, also in the demo!

  • Automatically saves and loads progress

Knife, Chainsaw and Hammer Overhaul!

Pretty significant update here, the way you use 3 of the most common items has been overhauled!

KNIFE and CHAINSAW: Keep your mouse on the moving icon to keep it going! Chainsaw vibrates around while the knife moves slow and steadily.

HAMMER: Wind up a shot but be careful, if you miss you get no points! And both the price and scoring for the hammer were rebalanced to fit the new system. Still gives more points the further back you wind-up a shot.

Also fixed a bug where the meat was disappearing because of a null texture variable. (How can you have any pudding if you can\'t see your meat?!)

UPDATE: NEW SKILL SYSTEM

This is a pretty major update so even if you\'ve already played the demo, it might be worth checking it out again to see (and tell me) how the new upgrade system feels.

Someone asked, \"So what do the upgrades do?\"

The answer was: A lot, but it was all behind the scenes.

So I got to work on making it clearer, and with more customization options.

Now, you will see blood drops on items that can be upgraded.

Hovering over them tells you what they are, what they do and what they require. But choose wisely. [u]Each tiered upgrade increases the requirements for the next one.[/u]

Do you prefer something that deals more damage or something that lasts longer?

Now, you get to choose.

Part of doing this also means some abilities that were there by default (slicing vertically with the knife to make maggots, for instance) are now skills you can unlock in this system. The main reason for this was people didn\'t know they could even do that, so this not only makes it more interesting but also helps to show what you can do without the need for a tutorial.

  • Scroll wheel on mouse used to just scroll through the market, but now it also selects/deselects previously bought (held) items.

Demo Patch 1.01 - Fixed Scrolling in Leaderboard + Small Graphical Bugs

Demo Patch Note 1.01:

Very small update.

  • The scrollbar on the leaderboard wasn\'t working so I fixed that and while I was at it I made the Top button (which refreshes the scores) also switch between the regular leaderboard and the FlappyFly leaderboard. If you don\'t know what FlappyFly is, it\'s the hidden minigame within the demo. You unlock it when you finish the demo. I promise you, you can\'t miss it.

IT FLOWS FREELY FROM THE STORE PAGE. . .

This took more months than I was expecting but I\'m taking it as far as it can go with off-the-wall, weird ideas and cramming it all into this new, experimental mode of play. There aren\'t many (if any?) games that do what this one does.

And the full version will have even more weird and different ways of playing, so try out the game now and wishlist it to stay in the loop about when that\'s coming next year!
