Later this month when macOS Catalina 10.15 releases, Apple will be ending support for 32-bit Mac applications. This means that if you update to the new macOS you will no longer be able to use any 32-bit Mac applications that you have, which may include BattleBlock Theater. However, these games will not be removed from your library and will continue working on earlier versions of the macOS as well as Windows. If you want to keep our (and others') 32-bit games playable on your Mac, you have several options. Workarounds include not upgrading your macOS or using the application Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac computer. • Pit People co-op couches that will use our portable arcade sticks. This is the debut of our 2 player co-op demo–never before seen at any show we’ve done thus far!

[img=http://blog.thebehemoth.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/agdq2015-banner.jpg] Earlier this year we had the privilege of joining the commentators for the speedrun of BattleBlock Theater in Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), a charity video game marathon. We called in during the stream and watched them hit their goal of completing the game in 2 hours and 45 minutes with 100% of the items from each level. It was amazing to be a part of the experience and to see how well the speedrunners knew our game–they even had a few tricks we had never seen before! For some reason, they were crazy enough to invite us back for AGDQ 2016! We have it’s a feeling because they’re insane–or at least speedrunners PJ & MechaRichter will be when they play BattleBlock Theater on insane mode! The BattleBlock Theater speedrun is tentatively scheduled for Monday, January 4th, starting at 7:47PM EST. Hello Mac Users! We recently got a few reports from BattleBlock Theater players who had updated to the new OS X El Capitan on Mac about getting a flash sprite error when attempting to load the game. BBT Steam Update 1.4 addresses this issue and players should now be able to load the game without getting this error. Fixed: "Fatal error - Failed to load Flash Sprite shader" error no longer pops up for OS X El Capitan users. To this day, the Community Theater is home to many fan creations that any fellow BBT player can access while online. Each week, our level designers took a dedicated chunk of time to play through several community playlists to highlight the best playlists in Furbottom’s Features. However, with the end of the year approaching and Pit People development on-going, we looked into the future to see how we could continue supporting Battleblock Theater community content without stretching too much of our resources and manpower.

Happy Friday, Theater patrons! We just wanted to give all the Mac users a heads up about a small update we rolled out yesterday. Update 1.3 includes:

• App icon added for Mac version
• Supported Logitech controllers now work in either XInput or DirectInput mode

We already knew that the apple was going to fall into your laps at some point (or on your head if you’re Isaac Newton) and now it has landed… Huh? Alright, that one was a bit of a stretch but all that matters now is that BattleBlock Theater Steam is now available for Mac OS X 10.7 and above! Apple consumers, rejoice! If you already had BattleBlock Theater Steam then you should be able to open up your account on a Mac computer and install our game. If you don’t own it yet, then today may be the perfect day to get it! BattleBlock Theater Steam is part of the Monster Summer Sale. It’s currently also part of a Flash Sale that runs until 10AM PDT on 6/19/2015 that puts it at 90% OFF the original price! This is some serious news and we hope you understand the gravity of it. No? We’ve already come out with oranges and bananas, but what we’ve heard from many of you is that you want the apples too. So, for you apple consumers, we’ve got good news for you: We will be updating BattleBlock Theater Steam to include Mac OS! Current players will also be able to play from Windows or Linux and move their game copy over to Mac thanks to Steam Play. As long as you own a copy of BattleBlock Theater Steam, you’ll be able to play on any of the three Steam platforms. You can purchase the game on Steam at any point and the Mac version will become available once our update goes live later this month! It will be compatible with all versions of Mac OS X 10.7 and above.

Show us what you can create and enter it in our fan art contest! Creation can include any character from any of our video games. We’ll select our favorite 3 submissions + 1 winner based on community votes, and those winners will receive a Castle Crashers Pink Knight plush!

RULES:

• Your entry must be your own creation (or something you did together with family or a loved one).
• You may enter up to one submission per person per day. (Repeat entries of the same art will be deleted)
• Acceptable mediums include: scans of drawings/images, photographs of your creation
• No costumes for this contest (we have a separate Halloween contest for costumes/cosplay in October)

We certainly respect all the hours any player puts into the games we’ve made. We’ve seen numbers as high as 300 in hours spent playing BattleBlock Theater Steam! Today, two players are putting themselves up to the challenge of finishing BattleBlock Theater Steam within 2 hours and 45 minutes while playing cooperative story mode. PJDicesare & MechaRichter are playing in the 2015 Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) event on January 5th, 5:00PM PST (Event time subject to change). AGDQ 2015 is a live speedrunning event that will benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation. During the BattleBlock Theater segment, our co-founder & art director, Dan Paladin, and our game narrator, Will Stamper, will be joining the event via Skype. During the live stream of the event, Dan and Will are going to give dev commentary along with the host of the event and two other speedrun commentators. You’ll be able to ask us questions while watching PJDicesare & MechaRichter go as fast as they can through the treacherous Theater stages. Not only are they playing the full game, but their goal is running the 100% category, which involves getting an A++ rating on every single stage, including secret stages.
