• Fixes a problem with buggy graphics on Mac, resulting in square, coloured artefacts appearing in scenes. This also includes other visual fixes for the Mac
• Fixes an issue with missing lights in the Enclave in Book Two, affecting dialogues with Enu and Likho
• Makes it easier (we hope!) to solve the musical puzzle in the Journeyman Inn for tone-deaf players
• Fixes an issue with the materials on the Dreamer in chapter 7, to make it less shiny. It was too shiny. Way too shiny
• Brings back missing sound-effects and voices for the guards banging on the roof gate in the Friar's Keep scene
• Updates the cut-scene with Mira at the end of the Kidbot job path — nothing big, it should just look better now
• Fixes an issue with buggy anchoring in the settings menu
• Fixes missing collision geometry in Marcuria, which made it possible to exit the world — no more YouTube videos of flying Kians!
• Boosts footsteps on wooden surfaces, which was noticeable in (e.g.) the Hand That Feeds
• Improves email format check for Red Thread account setup, to notify users of things like double @s
• Fixes an issue with targeting Crow on top of Klacks' stage in Book Four, which was frustrating
• Fixes a problem with the light beams in the Book Four Interlude on Macs, which made it super hard to solve the puzzle. Other light beams should also be improved now on Mac
• Fixes an issue where players could enter the vintner's booth and confuse the vintner in Book Five. You don't want to confuse the vintner

EDIT: We pushed out v5.1.1 last night — a hot-fix to solve a game-breaking issue. See below for more information. Dreamfall Chapters v5.1 was released earlier today. This version includes the following fixes: Version 5.1 patch notes

• Fixed an issue where there were blank screens during the previous episode recap, when playing the French or German versions, due to missing translated text. It now defaults to English if there's no translated text
• Fixed a bug that resulted in disappearing "Start Book X" option after completing game, loading save-game
• Starting the game with controller conflicted with the sign-in box; this has now been fixed
• Fixed a problem where French/German players got stuck when there's no translated text (this was fixed in v5.0.3)
• Changed the wording in sign-up box to make it less confusing, since some players thought they needed to wait for verification email before they could start playing the game
• Increased the interaction distance for vintner in Marcuria, after players reported problems interacting with the character
• In the epilogue, the wrong description was triggered when looking at Balance symbol in ceiling. This has now been fixed

• EDIT: There is a known issue with German and French versions when playing Book One. After Baruti's confrontation with Mr London, French/German players are unable to complete the goal and progress in the game. A workaround is to temporarily switch to English language when playing this scene, and going back to French/German after. We apologise for the inconvenience, and we will patch this shortly
• Light shafts (god-rays) shader issues on OpenGL systems (Mac/Linux), resulting in no light shafts being rendered on these systems. We're working on a fix and we hope to have a solution soon
• German and French subtitles are missing for Book Five. We will be patching those in as soon as they arrive
• German voice-overs for Book Four and Five will be added soon after release — we will provide more details as soon as possible

New cloud login and synchronisation system We've added a system that keep tracks of your progress between installations of the game — and across platforms. This means you can carry over progress from PC to consoles and mobile platforms, and vice versa. When you first start up the game after updating to Book Five, you will be prompted with a registration window. By entering your email address — and clicking the verification link we send you — your unique client ID (unique for every installation of the game) will be connected to your account created in our database. Since your account is connected directly to your email address, and new client registrations have to be verified via that email, we do not require a password for your account. Once you've successfully logged in, your email address will be displayed in the top-right corner of the title screen. If you're not logged in, you will see a message like 'Login' or 'Verification pending' (dependent on current status) in the top-right corner. You can re-open the login window by clicking your email address/status message at any time. For every new device/clean install of the game, you will have to log in and verify that specific client for it to be connected to your account. Connecting to this service will ensure that your progress will be synchronised to our servers, and you will have the ability to download your progress to any other device that is connected to the same account. The only data uploaded to our servers are your latest saved game and the decisions you've made up until that point in the story. As the game starts, the data connected to your account, stored on our servers, is compared with the data stored locally on your computer. If a more recent set of data is located on the server, you will be prompted with the synchronisation window on the title screen. Here you will have the option to download your most recent progress from our servers. You can also to skip this step, and continue without synchronising. Once you select the synchronize option, the data stored on the server will be downloaded and placed locally on your machine. Now you can continue the story from where you previously left off, regardless of platform. Rest assured that no data will be overwritten or deleted during this process. It is simply copied from our servers and downloaded to your system. Your email address will never be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose than maintaining your Red Thread Games account.

Just a brief update on today's launch of Book Five: The final version has been uploaded to Steam (yay!) and the testers will have to do one final run-through of the episode to check that nothing has gone wrong in the build-and-upload process. This usually doesn't take too long, so we hope to have the Windows PC version live within a couple of hours. Mac and Linux will follow shortly after. When it comes to German and French subtitles, the localisation teams are still working on these, but they will be patched as soon as they're ready — hopefully next week. We'll keep you updated. Good news, everyone! We've just published our first patch since the release of Book Four. There weren't a lot of bugs in our latest major release, but some players experienced a crash when going back to replay the final decision point in Book Three. This has finally been fixed, and we apologise for the inconvenience. Here are some of the major fixes in version 4.1.1:

• Fixed a crash affecting players who had to reload a Book Three save game in order to replay the final decision point before starting Book Four
• Enabled light shafts for Nvidia graphics cards on MacBooks and iMacs
• Fixed a reflection probe issue for Intel Iris graphics cards on MacBooks
• Summary screen said 'Book One' instead of 'Book Four'; this is now fixed
• Fixed a number of collision issues
• Fixed an issue where Kian could get permanently stuck in the administrator's office
• Fixed an issue where Kian could accidentally lock himself out of the world in the prison tower
• Fixed a rare issue where the player could get stuck if the camera was positioned inside NPCs
• Loading a save game in the Northlands forest could cause Crow to be rotated on top of the Elgwan: this has been fixed
• When Anna kissed Kian in chapter 8, she missed his face. She no longer misses
• Fixed an issue where players were sometimes unable to reveal their final secret to the Yaga
• Fixed some minor lip sync, footsteps and text bugs

The next patch won't be released until January, unless we find major issues with this version over the Christmas break. You can still submit bugs by pressing CTRL+B. We go through all bug reports submitted to us and we appreciate the feedback!

The fourth and penultimate episode of Dreamfall Chapters — Book Four: Revelations — is now available as a free download for season pass holders. The game should automatically update to version 4.0.4 when you launch your Steam client. Book Four includes a brand new, feature length episode of Dreamfall Chapters, along with further Unity 5 fixes and enhancements. Version 4.0.4 includes only English voice and text. German and French subtitles will be added soon. Please note that some players will receive a dialogue when clicking 'Start Book Four' stating that they must replay the end of Book Three by loading their last save game, either automatically or manually. This is due to changes in how story flags are handled, and will not affect all players. Affected players will only need to replay the final scene from Book Three, before starting Book Four. We apologise in advance for this inconvenience. We have received reports that the game crashes right after players return to Book Three to make a decision about whether or not to bring Likho along. This crash appears to be related to the Steam game overlay. We don't have a fix yet, but as soon as we do we will patch the client. Rejoice! Our [strike]extreme makeover edition[/strike] full game engine update — from Unity v4.6 to v5.2 — is finally complete and available as a free update for all players. Please note that the Mac OSX version will arrive tomorrow, and the Linux version will follow later this week or early next week. This extensive (and huge) update includes the first three episodes of Dreamfall Chapters. The fourth episode — Book Four: Revelations — will be available as a free update as soon as it's released. Major changes in version 3.2.9 include:

• Engine upgrade to Unity 5.2. This upgrade should improve performance and stability for most users
• Windows 64-bit version. Players with 64-bit OS and more than 3GB of RAM will experience fewer crashes and better performance. We strongly encourage Windows 32-bit users to upgrade to a 64-bit OS
• New notification system for important choices and consequences
• Numerous bug fixes and game tweaks, based on player feedback
• Enlighten support. This affects the lights and shadows in all scenes, along with material and shader fixes
• In-game bug report tool. Note that this tool may be removed in future versions of the game

Please let us know if you experience any problems with the new game engine. We expect to bring out a patch later this week or early next week. Thanks again to all of our dedicated beta testers who helped us track down bugs and test numerous versions of the beta over the past two weeks. We owe you all a warm hug and a cold beer!
