When I first started development, I was pretty confident that I'd be able to finish the game within a year or six months after the demo launched. It's July now, and while development has been progressing at a steady pace, it's clearly been a while since my initial estimate on when the game would release. I can't exactly spell out why the game's taking longer than I thought it would, but I can talk about some of the possible reasons. But before I can get into that, I want to share a little preview of a CG that'll be in the final game:

The first is that I severely underestimated my capabilities. Last year, I had a really inflated ego. I could do everything and anything, and making a visual novel wouldn't be that hard. Spoilers, it's really fucking hard. Due to my ego, there was a period when I wasn't taking development seriously. As time passed and I realized that people were still waiting for this game to be finished, and I wasn't getting younger, I became more and more motivated to actually take development seriously. Another reason was that not only did I overestimate my capabilities, but I also overestimated my understanding of how long VN development actually took. It's not just writing and images, but there's also music, putting it into code, UI, and uploading the game onto Steam. It's a lot, and I definitely didn't understand how long each it would take, considering I'm a first-time developer. There's also the fact that I got really overwhelmed and nervous about how people would take my first project, given that I wasn't sure how many people would actually like the game. That people would just dismiss it as some furry porn slop. Wishlist amounts give you an estimate, but you can never know for sure. Because of that, part of me wanted to avoid development so I didn't have to face those anxieties. The last possible reason was that I simply got caught up in a lot of family issues, so that took up development time. I feel bad for saying one thing only for it to never happen. Just wanted to let my thoughts and feelings out in the open, so that I can be a little transparent. I do feel motivated right now to get this VN finished so I can work on more sexy projects in the future! For now, though, please be patient! Bye-bye!
