Cats with Standards came from a deeply personal place, said Klaus Kriinen, the solo developer behind Jestercraft. Ive spent much of my life trying to please others, constantly putting my own needs and limits aside. This game is a way for me to explore that experience in a way that resonates with my own struggles. Through the absurd and eerie world of cats that must obey at all costs, I wanted to express the sense of being trapped in an environment that demands conformity, even at the expense of your own well-being.

After years of personal and professional burnout, Kriinen turned to game development as a form of self-expression. With Cats with Standards, he seeks to not only share his journey but also connect with others who have faced similar challenges of self-doubt, obligation, and the need to conform.
