Dice of Kalma is a deckbuilding roguelike where you play dice against Kalma, the grim guardian of the Underworld. Build a deck of powerful skulls, find synergies, and turn the dice to your favor to escape back to the world of the living.

ROLL THE DICE
Select and reroll unwanted dice to chase ever more valuable hands. Strategically pace your rerolls or go all in chasing the ultimate hand to play!
BUILD A DECK OF SKULLS
Choose skulls to add to your deck and find new opportunities to increase your score. Experiment, find synergies, and try different playstyles. Construct a deck of skulls to turn even the worst hand of dice around, or pick skulls that reward risky play and pushing your luck.
PLAY HANDS
Activate as many skulls as possible with every hand and use your rerolls to gain every advantage you can. Upgrade chosen hands to increase their value and complement your deck of skulls to meet increasingly difficult challenges.
FAIL AND TRY AGAIN
If you run out of hands, it is game over for you. Don’t worry, though. Persistence is rewarded, and the guardian of the Underworld seems to grow fond of you coming back to challenge him for just one more round.

Last summer we started working on a small dice roller deckbuilder prototype that combines the dice hands from Yatshee with building a deck out of beneficial score counting rulesets. Together with an easily approachable gameplay loop, atmospheric retro pixel art and crunchy chiptune music, these things grew to what we have released today.

- Improved the clarity of intro and tutorial dialogues.
- Added dialogue that hints the player to try previewing TOTAL by holding the PLAY HAND button.
- Score preview now shows the preview for REROLL gain in addition to BONES, MULT and TOTAL.
- Split the LEVEL title into LEVEL and THRESHOLD for improved UI clarity.
- Added a subtle looping animation of two arrows pointing at the title of the skull loot and hand upgrade screens at the end of level 1.
- Added a "+1" text on the level of the selected hand in the hand upgrade screen.
- The border of the UI area now blinks red when the player is on their last hand and playing the hand wouldn't result in enough TOTAL to avoid losing. The blinking effect stops if the player manages to salvage the situation by using REROLLS.
- Fixed spacing issues in some dialogues.
- Fixed victory dialogues triggering when losing on level 10.

Dice of Kalma is playable during the Steam Next Fest from Oct 13th at 10 AM PT until Oct 20th at 10 AM PT
