I wanted to take advantage of the winter season to thank you all for the support and wishlists for Pingberts Snow Ride so far. Thanks to your support, the game was featured in this years Godot Showreel ! If you havent seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it outthere are a lot of awesome games in it!

With that said, Id like to share some news and the current status of the game!

Evolving the Game

Originally, Pingberts Snow Ride was designed as a single-player endless/arcade experience with one or two game modes. After gathering feedback, I realized the core movement was fun enough to support something more ambitious.

Because of that, this year we focused on two major areas:

• Adventure Mode (handcrafted stages + leaderboards)

Adventure Mode

While Arcade Mode is not gone and has some updates to share as well, I wanted players to also have memorable, handcrafted challenges with scores and times worth competing over.

To make that possible, I built some level tools to create custom snowy stages! Using that editor:

• A tutorial level is now complete.\nIve tested it with friends and the reactions have been very positive.

• Each stage has a score system that rewards:

• Speed

• Mail delivery completion

Your total score will grant you a rank, with P-Rank being the highest possible rank for fast, high-completion runs.

Every stage contains hidden jigsaw puzzle pieces.\nCollecting them adds an extra layer of exploration. The full purpose of these pieces will be revealed later on, but they already serve as a fun optional challenge.

On top of all that, each stage has a global leaderboard using Steams Leaderboard API, so players will be able to compete for the best times and scores.

Im really excited to bring more stages to life. And if you ever want a break from structured levels, you can always jump back into Arcade Mode for an infinite, score-chasing experience.

Local Multiplayer

Pingberts Snow Ride is a passion project heavily inspired by the N64 and GameCube era, so local multiplayer just felt right.

Youll be able to play with others:

• Locally on the same screen (split-screen)

• Or via Remote Play

Current multiplayer modes include:

• Race Mode Compete to see who reaches the finish first.

• Fishing Minigame A more relaxed, playful mode with a different type of challenge.

• Arena Mode A versus mode focused on interaction and chaos.

These modes still need some bug fixing and balancing, but Id say theyre about 90% complete. Theres also a soccer-like multiplayer mode planned for the future that Im really excited about.

Costumes unlocked in single-player will carry over into multiplayer, so each player can show off their own style while playing together.

Whats Next?

The next big focus is finishing Pingberts Cabin.

Pingberts Cabin will act as the games hub area, a cozy place you return to after a sliding session. In the cabin, players will be able to:

• Purchase costumes

• Unlock other cosmetic items and goodies

The hub will also feature NPCs, including Pingette, Pingberts partner. I want the cabin to feel like a warm, welcoming place you look forward to visiting between runs, with reasons to come back and new things to discover over time.

In parallel, development of Adventure Mode stages will continue. While this number may still change, Im currently aiming for at least 25 stages for the games initial release.

Theres still a lot to do, but Im confident that a demo will be ready in Q1 2026.

Going into next year, Id like to share updates like this more frequently.

\n\n\n\"Steam Deck console 3D model \" by wallmasterr is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).\n\n\nI am happy to announce that Pingbert\'s Snow Ride is currently being developed for Steam Deck! \n\nRecently, I got a Steam Deck as a game dev kit and benchmark device for Pingbert\'s Snow Ride (and maybe also to play some games on the side..).\n\nI was surprised at how well Pingbert ran on the device out of the box! This is thanks to Godot\'s (open-source game engine that Pingbert Snow Ride is being developed on) native Linux export, which allows for high performance SteamOS compatibility! Proton compatibility layer not needed! \n\nFor the game\'s release, there is fine-tuning for the Linux build planned to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible on the Deck so you can take your penguin mail carrier adventures on the go!\n\n\nIf youre a Steam Deck owner, Id love to hear your thoughts!
