Hello! Around three years ago (oh how time flies!), I released Smash Pixel Racing into Early Access and it was a very rewarding and exciting experience. I had a great time playing with my friends and seeing/hearing from the few but very meaningful players that left feedback and made videos playing with their friends! Unfortunately around 6-12 months into EA, I become increasingly busy at my job and I had less and less time available to spend working on the game, and eventually development stopped entirely. Now, a few years later, I have more stability and more free time, and I want to get back to doing what I love: developing games. However, I must apologize to everyone who purchased the game, and especially those that hoped it would grow into something more. Development will not restart on Smash Pixel Racing, and I will soon be removing the game from sale on the Steam Store. Whilst the game is fully playable, it is not without it's share of bugs and issues. The code is a mess, and it would need a *complete* overhaul. It's not a decision I have taken lightly, but I feel that this is the best way for me to get back to making games, and enable me to work on something that I am truly passionate about. This was the first game I ever released to the public and I know that I could have handled development/marketing and my time away better. I have learnt from my mistakes and I can only hope that you feel that you got your money's worth from Smash Pixel Racing. The game will continue to be playable in it's current state to all who own it. I will be moving onto something bigger and better, with a wiser head on my shoulders. *CHECK BELOW IF YOU ARE HAVING LAUNCH ISSUES* It's has been a long time since the last update and I apologize to anyone who was following along but I could not avoid taking the time away from development. The game is available in an IndieGala bundle right now so I'm hoping for some more feedback & opportunity for testing and ironing out some bugs with a larger player base. I have updated the game with new cleaner sound effects and tried to balance all of the volumes better (it was a mess before). There are also bunch of small fixes and changes that I neglected to properly log down for this patch. Thanks for playing! steamhappy -JollyfishGames ** If you are unable to launch the game, please try launching the SmashPixelRacing executable directly from the game files with Administrator permissions if needed, also try deleting SmashPixelRacing processes from the task manager if they are present and finally try installing the "dxwebsetup.exe" DirectX redist in the game files. I am trying to find out what causes this issue still.

Hi everyone! The summer heat has slowed development a little, but 0.14 is finally ready! Here are the most significant updates: - Survival/Co-op Mode: Play alone or with friends and survive against the clock with ever increasing difficulty. Highscore is tracked, try to beat your best time alone or as a group! Versus modes are accessible through Party on the main menu. - Turrets: Security turrets/murderbots now spawn in all modes, they will repeatedly fire at the nearest player. Take them out before they take you out! - Energy Shield: Energy bar now protects the player in the form of a visible energy shield. It will deflect lasers and shield players from damage but use up some energy on contact. - Ship Stats: The energy capacity stat was giving an unfair advantage to Heavy class ships. Energy capacity/usage is now balanced for all ships and has been replaced by Hull Regeneration stat. Heavy ships have less hull regen and Light ships have more. - Energy Packs are now blue instead of green to fit with the UI. - Health packs now spawn occasionally and are green. - Some new asteroid/debris pieces. - The main menu has had some improvements and is much less messy now. - Several mystery minor fixes and improvements that I have forgotten ;) That's pretty much the jist of it! I hope you enjoy the new additions! You may have to restart your Steam client to receive the update. Mac OS and Linux/Steam OS are now officially supported, but consider Windows as the most reliable build for now though as it is more difficult for me to test these other platforms. Improvements to Ship Select to reflect the new Ship Stats system. Added and changed some sounds, mostly menu stuff. Fixed a bug where a player could gain impossible momentum. Minor tweaks and fixes.

I'll be making some forum threads to discuss certain mechanics and features and will be checking out the forums and I hope that with your feedback we can work together to make Smash Pixel Racing the best game it can be! I'm rolling out a new version immediately after release so there might be an update to download there if you buy early. Split second decisions and lightning reflexes will ensure your survival on the race to the finish line. No re-spawning, it's last man standing in space, survival of the fittest.
