Dear ferroequinologists and railway enthusiasts,
|
TICKET TO RIDE JOINS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER |
From the craggy hillsides of Edinburgh to the sunlit docks of Constantinople, from the dusty alleys of Pamplona to a windswept station in Berlin, Ticket to Ride Europe takes you on a new train adventure through the great cities of turn-of-the-century Europe. Will you risk a trip through the dark tunnels of Switzerland? Venture aboard a ferry on the Black Sea? Or erect lavish train stations in the great capitals of the old empires? Your next move might just make you Europes greatest train magnate! Pack your luggage, hail the porter, and climb aboard!
Just like the USA 1910 DLC, the Europe DLC adds 3 new modes:
Get it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/108230/Ticket_to_Ride__Europe/ Travelling through Europe is one thing, visiting it is another! Lets take a closer look at some specific country maps and their associated DLCs.
France
Dive into thriving French culture during Impressionism and the Industrial Revolution; street cafes, "Starry Night", Paris boulevards, and Notre-Dame. The French railroad system is a blank canvas just waiting for your masterful strokes. However, before you can start claiming routes, you'll need to lay the tracks! Alan R. Moon, creator of the game, has some very useful tips for your France journey: You will have to bluff some of the time by building tracks you don't really want. In addition, you may want to build tracks you don't need, forcing your opponents to collect color cards that are in short supply. This will be especially effective if you build lots of tracks of the same color in an area you know your opponents need and you don't. You will build a lot more tracks than you will claim in the game, so there will be many opportunities to bluff, mislead, and be clever. In addition, there is always a chance you can claim a route that another player has built, also making it harder for the opponent to finish his network. Get yourself the France expansion right below: https://store.steampowered.com/app/819410/Ticket_To_Ride__France/
Germany
Turn-of-the-century Germany... Through a fine autumn rain, a plume of smoke announces the arrival of the 4:15 train from Nuremberg in the Munich Central Station. The din of the massive engine grows more intense, culminating with a prolonged hiss as the locomotive halts at the platform, steam erupting in every direction. Already, porters in livery are rushing to unload baggage as passengers step from their cars. On the opposite platform, an operator pulls the cord for a three-chime whistle and another train begins chugging toward its next destination: Berlin, capital of the German empire. New place, new opportunities: the German Empire is a place with very (very very very) long routes: it will take up to 7 wagons to build some of them! In this country, when you take destination tickets, you will have to choose four among two stacks. Long and short routes:
Come visit Germany with many other players: https://store.steampowered.com/app/350272/Ticket_to_Ride__Germany/ Think wisely and always be one step ahead of your opponents, you will be tempted by big investments in long routes that can be wasted by a single missing segment.
You heard the whistle, let's now hop on the train before it leaves the station. We're still not quite finished with the Old Continent, and we will meet again travelers!
|
On a blustery autumn evening, five old friends met in the backroom of one of the citys oldest and most private clubs. Each had traveled a long distance from all corners of the world to meet on this very specific day October 2, 1900 28 years to the day that the London eccentric, Phileas Fogg accepted and then won a 20,000 bet that he could travel Around the World in 80 Days. When the story of Foggs triumphant journey filled all the newspapers of the day, the five attended University together. Inspired by his impetuous gamble, and a few pints from the local pub, the group commemorated his circumnavigation with a more modest excursion and wager a bottle of good claret to the first to make it to Le Procope in Paris. Each succeeding year, they met to celebrate the anniversary and pay tribute to Fogg. And each year a new expedition (always more difficult) with a new wager (always more expensive) was proposed. Now at the dawn of the century, it was time for a new impossible journey. The stakes: $1 Million in a winner-takes-all competition.
Get Ticket to Ride and its USA 1910 expansion right here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/108200/Ticket_to_Ride/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/108232/Ticket_to_Ride__USA_1910/ Oh and one more thing! The original USA map of Ticket to Ride is not accurate: Duluth is not where it should be. Duluth was included in Ticket to Ride because of the city's significance to the railroad industry. In the 1800s, Duluth became the first port city with access to both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans due to the construction of various railways. At one point, Duluth was the busiest port in the United States, eclipsing even New York due to its proximity to various iron mines and its advantageous location. The 10th Anniversary Edition of Ticket to Ride included a small sign noting Duluth's correct location on the board. To quote the words of the Days of Wonder team: The nature of the gameplay requires us to take liberties with the geographical placement of the cities. Just as in the US map, we decided to make sure that the game plays properly at the expense of some inaccuracies in the city placements. We know that this does offend some, especially those living in those areas that have been adjusted. However, since the games are not intended to be used specifically for educational purposes, we'd rather you get to play a well-balanced game.
We now reach the end of the first part of our trip. We will see you soon, travelers!
|
Good day, good day fellow rail barons and ferroequinologists!
|
