Commanders, we have released a hotfix right now. The hotfix will contain following fixes:
Finland – Winter Storm brings sub-zero conflict to Kalypso’s strategy heavyweight
Kalypso Media is excited to announce the release of the next chapter in its World War 2 strategy heavyweight Sudden Strike 4. Finland – Winter Storm releases today on Steam and other platforms, and is based on the events of the Russian advances on Finland during and after the Winter War, up until the Vyborg Offensive in 1944.
Offering two new mini-campaigns and six missions, the DLC faithfully recreates some of the war’s most important conflicts between the Finnish and Soviet forces. In the Soviet campaign, players will attempt to capture the village of Suomussalmi, protect the railway to Murmansk against a German-Finnish offensive and break through the Finnish defensive lines during the Vyborg Offensive. In the Finnish campaign, you must retake and hold the village of Suomussalmi while crushing Soviet reinforcements, seize back the Lähde sector and hold the final defense line in the Battle of Tali-Ihantala.
Alongside the new campaigns, Finland – Winter Storm also introduces three new doctrine commanders to choose from; artillery expert Vilho Petter Nenonen, tank general Ruben Lagus and renowned general Karl Lennart Oesch, all of which introduce new strategic options for tackling this latest set of challenges. You’ll also have 19 new vehicles to deploy, including new rescue vehicles, the Russian KV-1 and BT-7M, and the Finnish Stug III G and Flak 36.
Finland – Winter Storm is available now on PC via Steam.

With a series like Sudden Strike and its peerlessly passionate fanbase, involving the community in the development process is key to making a successful and fun game. We have been actively seeking user feedback and encouraging players to share their critical opinions of Sudden Strike 4, both during and development and following release, so that we can create the best Sudden Strike experience in the history of the series.
The release of Sudden Strike 4: Road to Dunkirk marks an important milestone in the continuous development of SuS 4
With the recent release of Sudden Strike 4’s first major DLC “Road to Dunkirk”, we thought it would be fun to look back at the evolution of the game since its release in August, and particularly at how community feedback has helped to shape a constantly-improving experience that helped pave the “Road to Dunkirk”.
Months before the game’s launch, we started the process with the release of the closed beta, which had a huge impact on the closing months of development. Thanks to the input of many players, we were able to outline a roadmap for the continuous development of the game and focus on matching the expectations of both veteran players and newcomers alike.
One of the major points fans raised in the beta was bringing back the sheer scope of battles that the classic Sudden Strike games were known for. With Sudden Strike 4 being developed in an all-new modern engine, recreating the giant battlefields of the 2D sprite era wasn’t always easy. Nevertheless, map sizes and the scale of battles was considerably increased during development. We have also added new large multiplayer maps to the game free of charge with recent updates.
Multiplayer in general, was a big focal point in those critical months of development, and is something that we still want to improve even further. Other improvements since release have included quality-of-life tweaks like map pings and lobby chats, as well as a new/old “Classic Mode”, which is inspired by the multiplayer experience from Sudden Strike 2 and offers players another set of win conditions and tactical approaches with which to take on their enemies.
Another hot topic of discussion surrounded the pathfinding of units in Sudden Strike 4. To simulate realistic behaviour (every unit has a distinct hitbox and turning circle), units would collide and sometimes cause a traffic jam when simultaneously sent into tight corridors. We fine-tuned these settings after receiving a lot of constructive feedback from the community, and soon delivered an improved pathfinding system that kept the realism aspect intact but also offered players more freedom in micromanaging their units.
Additionally, some classic and beloved units from the franchise were brought back. Much to our surprise, the community even discovered some of these units in the code while we were still working on the implementation:
Community-contributors spotted the iconic zeppelin the game’s files
While a lot of attention was paid to enhancing multiplayer, the skirmish mode has also been improved along the way. All major features and updates found in multiplayer were also added to the singleplayer game, allowing players more tactical approaches and customization options in battles against the AI.
What will the future bring for Sudden Strike 4?
A staple of the Sudden Strike franchise is its modding capabilities and tools. At release, we intitially offered a Unity-based editor, that allowed players to extensively mod the game to their liking. Unfortunately though, it wasn’t very intuitive. Right now, we are working on improving the editor, making it more accessible and easier to navigate, in order to greater support community created maps and battles that everyone can enjoy.
Other upcoming features and improvements will include:
Commanders! We have applied a small update to Sudden Strike 4, version 1.04.21015, which includes following: - Moscow mission date fix - Chinese voiceover fix in Road to Dunkirk DLC - Minor UI fixes - Minor localization text fixes
Challenging new campaigns and powerful units arrive in new DLC expansion
Kalypso Media is pleased to announce that The Road to Dunkirk, the first official DLC for its recent WW2 RTS Sudden Strike 4, is available now on Windows, Linux, Mac* and PlayStation®4, with a limited-time discount of 10% available to Steam customers for one week after launch. This exciting new DLC offers four new singleplayer missions based around one of the most intense and dramatic conflicts in the entire war, as the Allied forces made a desperate bid to rescue British, French and Belgian troops trapped in the eponymous French town, surrounded by the German army with seemingly no hope for escape.
In the German side of the campaign, players must break through the French defenses in the Battle of Lille to capture the town of Dunkirk and ultimately hunt down and destroy a British battleship. In the Allied campaign, players will launch a counter-offensive during the Battle of Ypres-Comines and attempt to evacuate as many soldiers as possible during Operation Dynamo itself. To aid in the battle, players will have two new commanders to choose from: French war hero Charles de Gaulle and British Expeditionary Force division commander Harold Alexander, further adding to your strategic options for each mission.
Last but not least, Sudden Strike 4: Road to Dunkirk also introduces 10 all-new units for players to deploy, including the German SIG 33 Bison artillery, the French Char B1 heavy tank, the British A10 Cruiser Mk. II medium tank and destroyer HMS Ivanhoe.
Sudden Strike 4: Road to Dunkirk is available now as DLC for the Windows PC, Linux, Mac* and PlayStation®4 versions of Sudden Strike 4 via digital distribution platforms for £7.99GBP / $9.99USD / €9.99EUR. On Steam, the DLC will be available at a 10% discount for one week, until 10:00 PST on 27th October.

Hello Commanders!
We have just updated Sudden Strike 4 to version 1.03.19983 which brings some good news! Many of you requested a classic mutliplayer mode akin to that of Sudden Strike 2. Guess what? Starting right now, you can select "classic mode" when creating a multiplayer match which will have all players struggling for control over sets of zeppelins to get the best reinforcements automatically from the edge of the map.
There are also mutators for how long you have to hold the zeppelins or if players that dont hold zeppelins at all will loose after a certain time. The classic mode can only be played in multiplayer at the moment but we are working to bring it to skirmish as well. Additionally, we have renamed the old multiplayer into "domination" and added two new, large multiplayer maps.

Commanding the British and American, German or Soviet troops, you will lead over 100 different units into battle, including the German bomber Heinkel He111, the Russian T-34 tank, the British Hawker Typhoon fighter plane and the notorious German Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger. In a first for the Sudden Strike series, you can now choose from one of nine individual commanders, such as George Patton or Bernard Montgomery, who will each allow for different approaches to combat and boast unique abilities.
Prove your tactical expertise in over 20 demanding single player scenarios, the challenge-focused skirmish mode, and the competitive multiplayer mode. A new reward system rewards clever and tactical play, awarding the player with skill points and bonus content, such as historical film footage of the era.
Sudden Strike 4 offers countless ways to vanquish your opponents. Exploit the weak spots of tanks, set up an ambush, occupy buildings with infantry, outmanoeuvre the enemy with clever positioning or unleash devastating air strikes – how you approach each mission is up to you!
