Changes for the rating

We are planning several important changes for the rating mode. These changes are based on comments and reviews of our users. 1) Players of the master and champion leagues will not be able to make parties with friends to participate in the rating games. This decision is caused by the strong disbalance of teams and the obvious discrimination of individual players competing for the championship. 2) Equal win/loss rating points for players of the highest rating. Release 2.402: Balance changes, new rewards and new hero announce


Announcement of the new hero: Medic

  • due to numerous complaints about the size of new maps, we’ve reworked most of them, reducing the area and removing some hindering obstacles
  • rating penalty is lowered when you lose against a higher-ranked team. Depending on the difference in rating, you now lose less points or don’t lose them at all
  • team balancing is improved, players’ rating now has greater weight during team arrangement
  • now in the interface, when entering the battle, bots and real players are marked differently

    New hero: Soldier



    Universal long range fighter capable of dealing high damage to remote targets and sufficiently protect himself and the allies.
    Rocket volley - Shoots two very fast rockets that deal high damage Gun burst - Series of gun shots at target direction Flare - Shoots a blinding flare that reduces enemies' damage
    Guardian droid - Places a droid that slows first enemy that comes near it Prism - Puts a force prism on a ground, which can't be passed through by enemies Hopping pack - Allows hero to fly at high speed.
    First aid - Slowly regenerates health Force field - Creates a force field around a hero that destroys all incoming missiles Focus - Increases damage of rifle and Gun burst but makes hero unable to move during the effect We’re going to keep a close watch on PVP balance and adjust heroes’ parameters when needed.

    New PVP locations


    We’ve added a new area for each of the game modes, that’s 5 new locations in total! Amber Cove (drillers capture)
    The battle for drillers in caves filled with large chunks of unstudied minerals similar to amber. Dexterity and mobility - only they can help you win and prevent from joining the company of dead insects hardened in stone. Sunken Shaft (crystal collection)
    The once flooded shaft of crystal development was drained again and became an arena for battles of mercenaries. Vertical descents, covered with seaweed and bones of ancient creatures, crumbling ledges - those are additional opportunities to break your neck, trying to get crystals. Spider Lair (portals control)
    It seemed like a good idea to install portals for cargo delivery in the heart of the Spider's Lair - cause "it's just insects". But this was the case when the size played a role - now the giant spiders catch in their networks those who try to withhold the portals. Azure Mines (sphere control)
    Spores of plants in this mine painted the crystals in green. These spores are floating in the air and will eventually turn your brain into a jelly. A great place for a match to control the energy sphere! Glacial Foothold (capture the flag)
    The unknown energy at this place does not allow the ice to melt, and the lava to freeze. Those who manage to take control of both research bases, stealing the enemy's flag, will get a chance to find out the answer to this mystery.

    New rewards



    From now on, every player can get a certificate for legendary skin or weapon for reaching certain profile level or clearing a planet in the campaign. Those who fulfilled the requirements earlier, will also get this reward. We’ve also added several other rewards for clearing the planets. Also, one more hero certificate is now rewarded for reaching profile level 30.

    Rework of bosses



    • boss mode was significantly reworked
    • boss difficulty levels are introduced, for now only easy and medium levels are available, the hard mode will be introduced in one of the nearest updates
    • on easy difficulty players have to defeat all the bosses one by one, equipment of rare quality should be enough for this
    • on medium difficulty there will be a harder version of randomly selected boss every day
    • it’s possible to fight any boss with a team of any size, boss will be automatically adjusted based on the number of players

    PVP matchmaking update



    We’ve got lots of feedback regarding matchmaking in rating battles, and we’re introducing several adjustments to it. We hope that these changes will significantly improve your PVP experience.
    • Players are more likely to be matched with other players from their league. However, the more you wait for the match, the higher is a chance to encounter players from greater leagues
    • Minimal number of human members in each team is increased to 3
    • There can’t be more than 1 bot player in each team

    Other changes


    • reduced enemy detection radius for such skins as: Shadow disguise (Dave), Impulse armour (Jack), Crusher armour (Arnold), Neurogenic version (Sigma)
    • damage of most machineguns (Arnold) increased by 10%
    • healing amount of Injection reduced from 300 to 250 (Arnold, Aedis)
    • missiles of such weapons as: rocket launcher (Dave), grenade launcher (Jack), slime launcher (Khazak) are made more durable (less likely to be destroyed by enemy bullets)

    Balance


    Shieldmaiden - currently Aedis is the strongest and the most popular hero in the top. We’d like to keep her unique playstyle, but fix a combination, that guaranteed killing of any enemy in almost all situations: Cyberarm + ‘Executioner’ axe. Changes:
    • epic axe with armor reduction got the effect increased from 10% to 15%, and damage decreased from 60 to 55
    • epic axe with bonus on stunned enemies got the bonus reduced from 40 to 30
    • 'Executioner' axe got its attack speed reduced from 1.5 hit/s to 1.2 hit/s, bonus reduced from 50 to 40
    Chemicals (Khazak) - Those are absolutely the best second slot for the Hermit. Chemicals deal huge AoE damage, that can be further increased with certain skin properties. Area of effect and duration are also significant which increases chances to successfully hit multiple targets and creates “zoning” effect, keeping the enemies away from it. We’d like to preserve the control nature of this gadget, so only the damage will be changed, which is reduced from 270 to 180. Other changes:
    • instant damage of Guardian (Khazak, Skaar) increased from 80 to 100
    • invulnerability duration of Protective barrier (Khazak) reduced from 2.5s to 2s
    • reduced damage of epic knuckles with no critical attacks (Khan) from 65 to 62
    • increased magazine of 'Avenger' machinegun (Arnold) from 30 to 40
    • 'Hellfire' flamethrower got the magazine reduced from 10 to 8 and reload time increased from 1.5s to 2s
    • lowered armor reduction effect of Predator visage (Khan) from 50% to 40%
    • health restoration of Cestus gauntlet reduced from 35 to 30

    ONRAID will become free to play in the near future! We will retire the for-purchase package just before release. We hope this will revitalize the game. Everyone who buys the game while it's still available for purchase will retain all their skins/weapons and all available characters. After release character availability will change: players will have a few random heroes available to play every time they start the game, and the rest will be locked. To unlock a certain character for continuous use the character will need to be purchased separately.

    Up to your ears in lava!


    The hotter, the better? If you agree, travel forth to conquer vast expanses of lava and fight terrible monsters in the new missions! Don’t expect it to be an easy task: those abandoned bases on a white-hot planet are dangerous enough you risk stay there as a pile of steaming flesh.


    New monsters


    Hear that sound? Muffled growls and screeching of claws? That’s our new monsters, ready to disembowel you, just say the word! No? Then get ready for a hard fight.
    • Suicide bot
      A crazy product of mutations and bioengineering: all it wants is to explode and kill as many mercs as it can!
    • Golem
      Its body is stone and lava: not an easy combination to destroy! It will turn you to ashes or a bloody pancake with a great deal of indifference.
    • Wolf
      A biomechanical wolf is much more vicious than a normal wolf. It is also much harder to kill because of its mechanical parts. My, what sharp teeth you have!
    • Cryo-droid
      Tiny but nasty, this droid will freeze the enemies closest to it. That means you.
    • Stundroid
      How can such a small robot be such a bother? It fires, it stuns, it is everywhere at once!
    • Battle Drone
      Make sure to not let it break out its machine gun, or it will quickly morph from a tiny droid to a death machine!
    • Hunter
      A true horror of the night. Surrounded by shadows and almost impossibly fast, it can become a source of nightmares for anyone who met it. Don’t worry: no one has ever survived such an encounter anyway.
    • Snarl Shaman
      You thought the monsters couldn’t heal themselves? They can now! This snarl found a biocryogenic staff and heals itself and its monster clanmates with abandon!
    • Spikepelt
      If porcupines turned into monsters, they would definitely be spikepelts. Thousands of deadly quills - now that is an arsenal fit for a real monster!
    • Beetle
      Chitin, mandibles, venom, chirrups and clicking noises. This beetle has evolved all the best qualities of alien fauna. Its main trait is the desire to get under your skin… and it you from the inside!
    • Zombie
      These ones are too cool to eat brains. They probably kill you because they resent your humanity. Or maybe because of loneliness, since you will become one of them after a single bite!
    • Toxispore
      Toxic and carnivorous. Definitely not the flower to give your date.
    • Detonating Fly
      If you hear its distinctive buzz it’s time to run as fast as you can. It explodes!
    • Small Spider
      Much more dangerous than Big Spiders when there is a whole cluster of them. There usually is.
    • Raptor
      It’s not about its small paws. It’s all about its enormous fanged maw, to better tear its victims apart.
    • Hound
      A monstrous creature from the very depths of lava planets. If you manage to survive its claws, you’ll be incinerated by the fireballs it throws.

    Wave after wave!


    You think you’re so great at kiting the monsters and killing them from a safe distance? You have a new challenge ahead: the monsters are coming at you in waves, and there’s nowhere to run! The new system of gateways will not let you get out until you’ve killed all monsters! This is going to really prove how good you are in action!

    Colonel Wolf


    A quiet planet, the rapid fire of a machine gun, explosions. Something’s missing. That’s right! Introducing a guy built like a brick house who’s going to yell at all of you wimps. Colonel Wolf just loves to yell at people who still listen to him, and his sense of humor will have you grinding your teeth!

    Bug fixes and mission difficulty


    We corrected all the previously reported bugs, as well as reworked difficulty levels for missions. Don’t even think you will be able to clear a difficult mission without sufficient skills, equipment and a bit of luck!

    New UI


    New missions screen - it’s time to explore different planets. Or, rather, it’s time to destroy everything alive on those planets!
    This is a planet in the middle of nowhere. All we know about it is the fact that once upon a time it housed an intergalactic prison for all miscreants, and especially those who think they are miscreant BOSSES. Predictably, they have all broken out of prison. Not quite as predictably, it turns out they are difficult to kill. This is going to be a hard job: we mark heightened activity of yet another Boss every day!
    Being the best mercenary out there would warm the cockles of anyone’s heart. That sweet, sweet feeling of superiority. Now more user-friendly, intuitive, and more importantly, clear for everyone: the best players are at the very top of the list!

    Tired of waiting for your reward? Soon you will receive the long-awaited league chests. Tear it apart to get a well-deserved reward! Next season!

    Weapon overhaul


    Weapons have stopped being just boxes that fire lasers or missiles. We are introducing LEGENDARY weapons. Their stats and power depend on their rarity. Now a weapon will truly become an important addition to your arsenal!

    No more gadget energy


    We have thought long and hard about it, and in the end decided that we will no longer support energy for gadgets. This will remove any energy restrictions enabling you to fight with your favorite gadget! The players who have had a gadget before this update will be able to use it with no energy now. The players who have not had a gadget before this update will receive one based on their level.

    Hello everyone! As players are asking questions about the end of rating season, we'd like to clarify a couple of things. We decided to prolong the first season for some time, and there are reasons for that: [olist]

  • From the very release we keep track of the drawbacks in ONRAID design. As the game is in Early Access, we decided to concentrate on adding new content, as it requires the most time and effort.
  • Currently we are working intensely on two major items. The first one is a pack of new bosses - we are going to deliver them in the next update very soon. The second one is a new PVE mode we call 'missions' - a procedurally generated dungeons filled with various enemies, mini-bosses, and hidden bonuses, where you have to finish certain tasks, alone or with your friends.
  • As it becomes clear with your help, the rating mode currently has lots of flaws. This includes loosing rating when you win the match, huge rating numbers for certain players, and of course the absence of a suitable reward for the end of the season. We are going to deal with all that issues right after the bosses update. [/olist] A bit later we'll tell you more about upcoming update.
