It's been almost half year since you heard from us. Mostly it was because of very busy schedule and general lack of any interesting news. Now it is time to tell you what we did all these months and why. But first of all we want to express our gratitude toward all our followers and readers and all those people who send their ideas, visions and comments to us. Thank you for what you are - it is you who give us strength to move forward toward release! We do believe that we should make dedicated post in the nearest future where we will mention all those who shared their ideas with us.
And back to the astral news at last:
- Astral level (which was removed from Imperium) is back and already ported to new project prototype.
- Astral mechanics was rewritten from scratch and improved.
- New features added - among them ability to merge shards and ability to continue exploration of your own shards.
- Astral level AI is more I than A :) now.
- Added ability to fine tune astral lords.
- New toolset for scenario creations.
Other not so exciting updates:
- Unfortunately, due to the lack of financing, development is moving slow.
- It is the main reason for skipping art assets development (we did some sketches and samples, though).
- This is why all the ingame shots are more utilitarian style and they would not be included in the release (of course!).
Some future plans, to keep you busy:
- Week ago we started to rewrite and port shard (strategy) level into the prototype.
- Right now we are testing some strategic gameplay ideas, which could make gameplay less monotonous and more dynamic, but we're trying not to lose essentials of previous game!
- Financing - we are working on it, but it is too early to share our ideas. So far all the financing is our own spare :) money.

Hello!
Our team at Snowbird would like to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Although this year was a quite a challenge for everybody, and, unfortunately, we were not able to keep all our promises to you, we're looking into the future with careful optimism, and hope that we would release ongoing projects and start develop new projects as well.
See you all in 2021!
PS. Just a short reminder for all of you - ongoing Winter Sale on Steam is the best and last chance to buy our games in 2020!

Hello! Due to the lack of news and updates, you might be wondering what happens to our development plans. Have we forgot about the Eador universe at all or do we have something up our sleeve? Well, as you may have already guessed - we have a bunch of surprises for our fans. Although it was not an easy decision to make - considering all the "wonderful" events humanity had in 2020, we were always passionate about TBS and somewhere in August we began sketching new project. Hopefully this information will cheer you up a little! Today we are ready to make a first official public announcement of the upcoming title in the Eador universe. Because it is very early stage of development, there is not much we can show you, but so far you can be sure that:
- The game will be based on the Unreal Engine.
- Astral, which was put aside in the Imperium is coming back with new features.
- A new storyline campaign which will unfold some secrets.
- And, of course, new masters, heroes and creatures!

Hello everyone!
We've just pushed a small update - mainly to do with the multiplayer part of the game. Hopefully, the server will be much more stable now. So, just letting you know!
Also wanted to let you know that we still remember and love Eador and maaaybe have some ideas about its future. It's always a pleasure to see people playing these games to this day.
Before we get to those ideas though, we first need to finish our current project - Feral Blue (please wishlist).
Have a good weekend!

Hi everyone,
Today we have a reason to remember our game from 2013 Eador. Master of the Broken World. One incredibly hardworking person by the name Jagulars created his own mod for the game, which considerably changes the balance for heroes and some of the units. Our gamedesigner has been trying out the mod for five days straight and periodically shouting: 'Hell no, this is too imba!'. Basically, the changes are quite substantial.
You can find the full list of them here.
We believe that mods can be better than original games in some ways, because mod creators have the opportunity to create freely and with no release schedule. We may not agree fully with some of the balance choices made by Jagulars, but still we recommend everyone to play this mod.

Hi everyone!
Today we're very happy to announce our new project, currently in active development. This game is called Feral Blue.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za9CFrmZ_2c
We've always been fond of sailing ships. Actually, there are about three things regarding games we're very passionate about: how to make our own version Heroes of Might & Magic 3, how to make our own version of "Pirates!" and how to finish our very own Fatherdale. These kinds of 'DIY engines' we worked with before can do miracles in some of the luckiest cases, but obviously that's not something we can say about ourselves. So it's a great thing that an indie team of two people can start making a game with Unreal Engine 4 (we still remember when it was a luxury for a very few).
Sailing ship is always about the freedom. You can't get the same unforgettable feeling of salty splashes getting to your face in Titanic or in a WW1 dreadnought. This is the basic emotion that we wanted to convey with Feral Blue — freedom and the sea. In addition, we are doing our best to introduce the concept we've been working on in our games for the past few years: going from controlling your crew to controlling your settlement and then — to controlling your empire. We want players not just upgrade their stats, but their level of responsibility. At the same time, when you're fed up with everything, you have the ability to get out of your office, gather your crew of veterans and set sail on a frigate, to cut the Maltese in boarding fights. Yes, it seems we have our first game, where the Maltese will be among the main factions.
We took a long time to figure out what the game will look and play like. First it was FTL — but we realized it's not something we want to go with (by the way, if you do want to play FTL about sailing ships — buy Abandon Ship). Of course, we took some ideas from our own Blood & Gold. Russian classics Sea Dogs is our current reference to naval battles (programmer's note: debatable).
In terms of the game's setting, we're taking inspiration from Waterworld (1995) and Master & Commander (2003) — sea, ships, sometimes very weird ones, naval battles in the fog. Also, we were greatly influenced by Snowpiercer (2013), with its idea of a state locked inside the train.
Feral Blue is a typical case of a game we'd like to play ourselves. But we hope it will be of interest not only to us, but you as well! For now, you can wishlist the game on Steam. See you there!

In celebration of its 5 year anniversary, you can add Eador. Masters of the Broken World to your account for FREE starting now until Sunday at 6pm Pacific! Once you add the game, it will remain in your account permanently.
Eador is a universe made of countless shards of land drifting in the Great Nothing. Each of the shards is a little world unto itself, with geography and denizens of its own. The power over the shards is bitterly contested by Masters, the immortal beings mortals believe to be gods. Take the role of the mighty Master and shape the destiny of Eador! It is in your power to deliver the world from ultimate destruction – or to choke it with an iron fist of tyranny. Eador: Masters of the Broken World is a turn-based fantasy strategy game, where the decisions you make affect the world even deeper than the battles you win.

Hi everyone,
It's a big day today. Our first game Eador. Masters of the Broken World, came out exactly 5 years ago. It was and it is a bit rough around the edges, but still, to this day we're proud of what we've managed to achieve with such a small team.
Naturally, this anniversary calls for proper celebration. So starting today and until Sunday, the game is completely free and yours forever, if you just click 'Install Game' on Eador's Steam page in time. Tell your friends, share the news! Nothing beats free, right? Be warned though, Eador is notorious for eating your time like no other game — in a good way!
Some info for newcoming players. When you launch the game, you can see a banner to the left of the menu, that's a newer game in the series, Eador. Imperium, which is currently on sale with a 50% discount. What are the differences between the two?
In short, Masters of the Broken World has this huge, non-linear and sandboxy single-player campaign, that will occupy you for the longest time.
We tried to experiment with this in Imperium, where we created five handcrafted story campaigns, and also added new heroes and units (keeping all the original ones), changed and introduced some new mechanics. A good chunk of the code was rewritten, and as a result, the game is much more stable. In both games you can create custom shards (maps) with different settings, where you can play however you like. So if you find yourself enjoying MotBW, we see no reason not to give Imperium a try. Just saying.
Thanks for sticking (and bearing) with us!

Hi everyone,
There's been a lot of complaints regarding non-working multiplayer in Eador. MotBW, so it's high time we address it and explain what's going on with it.
First of all, the original netcode for the game's MP was not very good, it could often lead to desync. We managed (hopefully) to rewrite and fix this part now. Secondly, we've been hacked, believe it or not. Perhaps, you remember the epidemic of the virus-cryptographer? Well, it got us too. We found ourselves in the shoes of a grandpa who pressed some button and and then had his screen full of naked ladies. All of the server's data was encrypted and held hostage. But we don't want to give money to terrorists, so just wiped out all our hard drives.
So what happens now? Today we're releasing a new update for original MotBW, fixing multiplayer and improving the game's stability in general. To play MP, you'll need to register one more time — use your Steam/GOG key to do that. If you're having problems with registering, write us to support@snowbirdgames.com, we'll see what can be done.
The game's netcode can be described by the term 'legacy software'. This means that the functional is in there and it works, but works pretty bad. To completely rework it from the ground up is too expensive, to fix completely — impossible. We did rewrite a pretty big chunk of the code, as we already said. But unfortunately, we just can't afford to rewrite the whole MP part of the game. So we ask you to understand any possible problems you may have with MP.

Hi everyone,
Let's talk about our upcoming plans for Eador.
Starting with the "elephant in the room" — tutorial in Imperium. Lack of any guidance for new players on Imperium's release was one of the more obvious shortcomings overlooked by the previous team. Because the game came out as a stand-alone expansion, we can't just let it stay that way.
So we've created a completely reworked tutorial (in comparison to MotBW), to make the game more accessible and clear for everyone — even those who never played Eador before. We've closely looked at how streamers approached Imperium for the first time, and in some cases they had to spend about 5 minutes to find how to end their turn. We hope such problems will no longer arise.
Along with the tutorial we'll try to include fixes the most annoying gameplay errors in the next patch — coming next week.
We also noticed that many players (even from Genesis times) enjoy creating their own "sandbox" out of the game: lock AI in its own capital, so that it wouldn't bother them, and just explore the map however they like. This led us to creating a new separate mode, that we called the same way — Sandbox.
This mode allows you to create your own little campaign with a set of parameters. AI's behavior can be tweaked to your liking, so it would be possible to play on a gigantic map while only exploring provinces, fighting guards and collecting rare sets. We'll talk more about this mode next week.
The Sandbox Update is planned for release before the end of May. We also have more news and announcements for Eador on they way — stay tuned!

This is an update from the new Snowbird Games administration. This week, main investor of Snowbird Games studio took decision to dismiss the development team. Reasons for this being the unsatisfactory results of Eador. Imperium, as well as the slow development rates of Blood & Gold: Caribbean! — two primary projects of the studio. Right at the start of 2017 the investor did an independent code examination and had a talk with developers. As a result, it was decided to let go of the people behind both of these projects and invite new specialists. New administration is not yet ready to announce its immediate plans on further development. It is also unclear whether the Snowbird Games brand itself will be preserved. At the moment people from the renewed team are preparing their own feedback on Eador and Blood & Gold. After agreeing on what's the next step should be with administration, new plans will be posted in this blog, as well as in Steam community hubs of both projects. This blog will be kept as means of communication with the audience for the time being. New information should be provided during the next week. http://snowbirdgames.com/blog/?p=2660

Hi everyone,
Today we’ve got probably not the most exciting announcement for you, but nevertheless — a very important one.
It doesn’t take much to see that with Eador. Imperium, our latest project, we faced an unusual amount of negative feedback. Much of that is justified — the troubled development of Imperium for the past year took far more time than needed, and the end result, understandably, didn’t really meet expectations of our players. Even taking technical difficulties of the engine behind Eador into account, it’s pretty clear — we could’ve done much better, something’s just not working out.
As it is, tough times call for tough decisions: the investor group which took part in forming Snowbird Games has decided to let most of the team go.
So for us it's the last chance to properly say goodbye. On the behalf of the people leaving Snowbird Games — thank you, everybody!
However you decide to look at it, it’s been a real journey for us. We love Eador and love Blood & Gold. All the work that went into both of these projects by our tiny team was 100% sincere and passionate. You can be absolutely sure of that.
But, when it’s clear it’s time to move on, it’s best not to hesitate. Best of luck to the renewed team. And see you around!

Hi everyone,
We're happy to announce that full version of Eador. Imperium is coming out this Friday 27th!
HUGE thanks to all players who joined us during Early Access. Your help in finding and reporting problems, as well as suggesting your feedback has been and continues to be invaluable. We feel really grateful to have such a unique, responsive and understanding community.
The release version of Imperium will see the inclusion of the long-awaited new single-player campaign (hope you like it!) and some other nice bonuses, like achievements, Steam trading cards and Steam Workshop, where you'll be able to download community-created scenarios or upload yours. All the good stuff.
We also invite you to join our AMA on the /r/games subreddit, that will happen this Thursday (we'll make another announcement right before it starts). AMA stands for "Ask me anything", so if you have something to ask us, not necessarily gaming-related, feel free to do so!
See you soon.

While the game is under development and some changes are inevitably going to happen, a proper guide is still way off. However, we thought some kind of memo on new units might be of use to you right now.
Starting with imperial units, today we're posting descriptions for all new warriors of this faction on our forums. Click the link and get a proper look on them. Comments on balancing these units will be welcome in that same thread or here.

Hi everyone,
After a long hiatus, our Snowbird Forums are now back online.
This is good news, and now to the bad ones. The reason our forum disappeared for a while in the first place was because we decided to update it and install some much needed spam protection along the way. Unfortunately, the forum's database was saved incorrectly in the process, and as a result we lost a part of users data, while keeping all messages and files. And sadly, there's no way to just tie the old messages with the newly registered forum accounts, so now we'll have to start with a completely clean slate once again.
We welcome everyone to register on our forum one more time (Steam authorization is in place too, as before) — we'll be very happy to see some of the old familiar nicknames again, as well as all newcomers.
Of course, we understand our forum probably won't be ever as active as in its best days, but we figured having one on hand nevertheless won't hurt. There also should be some new stuff to discuss and leave feedback on pretty soon as well. Who knows, maybe Eador-related too?
Anyway, see you there!

Hi everyone,
A couple of quick fixes today following the last week's update.
Update notes 1.6.2:
Fixed:
- Option for choosing between heroes to transfer to the next shard not working correctly.
- Incorrect turn count for friendly units upon clicking on enemies outside their attack range.
Important note: those of you who experienced graphical glitches after the previous 1.6.1 update, can try to rollback to 1.6.0 version using the beta branch in Steam (called "eadorbeta"). Please let us know if those problems disappear or still stay in place after doing so.

Hi everyone, The main addition in today’s update is the ability to transfer progress of one of your heroes, as well as selected items and units, to the next shard. [/img] Now, after you conquer a shard, the game shows a new menu, where at the expense of the astral energy you can choose whom and what you would like to take with you on. Units and items can be exchanged between your heroes, but remember: everything has a price, and most likely something will have to stay behind. As you can guess, this feature has a bit of experimental nature, so please let us know if you happen to notice some worrisome balance issues. There's another nice addition for players who value their time and don't like spending it on low-level enemies during late game. If you're sure in your army's capabilities, you now have the opportunity to choose the autocombat option in the province's attack dialogue, right on the strategic map — in this case the game will skip loading the tactical battle. Update notes 1.6.0: Added: - New option to transfer units, items and one of the player's heroes to the next shard. - New autocombat option in the province’s attack dialogue on the strategic map. Fixed: - Tooltip display for item descriptions. Now additional information for items can be triggered with RMB, instead of mouse hovering.

Hi everyone,
Not many changes this time around, so once more we'd like to ask you to post the most annoying problems you experience in the game right now.
You can do it in the comments below, in this thread or using our tech support e-mail (more preferable option, and you can send us your savegame) — support@snowbirdgames.com. We look through every message, but unfortunately we can't always reproduce some of the issues you report. At the very least, we'll do our best to investigate what could've gone wrong.
Update notes 1.5.5:
Added:
- Diagonal camera movement with Num-pad on the strategic map.
- New window with hero’s detailed information before you choose to hire him.
Fixed:
- Dwarf Engineer unit not getting bonuses from Commander’s “Ranged Tactics” skill.

Hi everyone,
On April 19th Eador. Masters of the Broken World will be having its two-year anniversary.
This time around we'll be celebrating the birthday in a more modest manner, so first of all we'd really like to take this opportunity to give thanks from our team to all the fans one more time.
Huge thanks to everyone who stayed and put up with us during these two years, kept following the game and still looks forward to something more and new. Eador is the first big and thus very complicated project for us. That's why it was so vital to have the luxury of your feedback, suggestions and, last but not least, your support for such an important first step. For all of this we're very grateful.
We hope that we'll be able to fuel your enthusiasm with some announcements in the near future. For now though, we can at least promise a new update for the game coming next week (UPDATE: it's taking a bit longer, but it's still coming soon!).
By the way, on this occasion Eador. MotBW, Eador. Genesis and Allied Forces DLC will be available with a nice 85% discount on Steam till Sunday. We think it's a great opportunity to try a pretty good strategy game for those who've yet to come around to it.

Hi everyone,
We wanted to clear the situation with Eador a bit. First of all, the project hasn't been abandoned. Our limited resourced wouldn't let us devote as much time to it we'd like. Honestly speaking, 90% of our efforts and expenses at this very moment are focused on 'Caribbean!'. However, we have a dedicated specialist whose job is only working on and improving Eador.
Regarding the next update. If all goes well, we'll upload it to Steam's open beta tomorrow. After some tests we'll release update 1.5.2 and post the patch notes along with it.
UPDATE: 1.5.2 is now uploaded to the beta branch.
We see that hundreds of people still keep playing the game every day. Of course, that's not millions or even thousands, but knowing that some of you are out there and still playing is enough to continue our work on Eador. So thanks for that!

Hi everyone,
Today we're releasing a new DLC for Eador called Allied Forces.
As you know, Eador doesn't exactly lack in the unit department, especially after last month's update. However, we thought that the benefits of befriending one of the seven races in Eador could be a bit more rewarding.
So there it is, inside you'll find 14 brand new units (two for each race) with their unique skills and abilities.
Let's take the gentlemen on this picture as an example:
- Orc Witchdoctor - the witchdoctors can inspire their kin, improving their fighting ability. Moreover, they can harm their enemies with the «Scream of Urugu,» a curious spell never studied by the magicians too preoccupied by loftier matters.
- Dwarf Guardsman - these elite dwarven warriors are armed with long halberds, and wield them with great efficiency despite their short stature. Their ability to strike with blazing speed often surprises their opponents thinking themselves safe behind the cover of their troops.
- Lizardman Turtleback - while untrained and unprepared for regular formation fighting, the lizardmen have invented another way to protect themselves from an attack from behind. The strongest and most resilient among lizardmen become Turtleback warriors, armored with a great tortoise shell on their back, able to deflect almost any attack.
- Elf Ranger - elves who completed their training at the «Maple Branch» school are called rangers. These warriors are skilled at tracking and ambushing, and their training includes not just the mastery of a bow, but outstanding swordsmanship as well, making them able to stand their ground in melee.
