Greetings, fellow humans. Everything is fine and you have nothing to be afraid of.
Today I'm pleased to announce that The Whisperer in Darkness has been updated for compatibility with new versions of Mac OS. Additionally, you can now play it in Spanish!
This update will likely make Whisperer incompatible with older versions of Mac OS and Windows. If you need to play Whisperer on an older system, you can download the legacy version like so:
1. In your Steam library, right-click The Whisperer in Darkness and select "Properties".
2. Click on the "Betas" tab.
3. Click "None", and change it to "legacy".
The legacy version is only available in English.
Wow, it's been a while! This is Nat, the writer/designer/creator of The Whisperer in Darkness visual novel. I'm here to announce that my next project, a sci-fi comedy visual novel, is now on Steam!
Black Lives Matter. Back in July of 2020, inspired by itch.io's Bundle For Racial Justice and Equality, we the developers of The Whisperer in Darkness agreed to donate 100% of our earnings from our game to Anti-Racist non-profit organizations. It's taken a while to get to writing this official announcement. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, today felt like a good time to do it. The first organization we've chosen is The Marsha P. Johnson Institute, whose mission statement begins like so: "The Marsha P. Johnson Institute (MPJI) protects and defends the human rights of BLACK transgender people." Many thanks go out to everyone who has played and enjoyed our game! --Nat
Hey, it's the main dev here. I've just started a Patreon campaign to help fund my game development, which I do entirely on my own time while also juggling a full-time college schedule. If you loved the game, and especially if you'd like to see it translated into other languages and made accessible to a much wider audience, please consider making a donation.
If you haven't played the game, or if you'd like to share it with a friend, you can also pledge at $3/month to receive a free copy of The Whisperer in Darkness.
Ever the praises of Great Cthulhu.

It's been a while, but here's the first update. It cleans up some little imperfections in the UI, but more importantly, adds options for graphics scaling that should make the game much easier to read. Playing through it now, I myself have to wonder how anyone put up with the tiny text of the original version.
(It looks better ingame.)
I plan to make just a couple more updates improving little things about the experience (though the story will remain the same), and at least one major update improving general accessibility. Not to mention integration with more Steamworks features, and localization, starting with Spanish!
Be safe,
—Nathaniel
