Free Exploration Mode


No hunger, no stamina and access to all four seasons without having to use the Nature Sandbox mode! A new world preset aptly entitled "Exploration" has been created to go with this game mode. There's obviously a lot more that needs to be added to the macro-game world to make exploration more fun but this is a long-term journey DoN is undertaking here. Slow and steady wins the race. For now, the exploration mode shows a glimpse of a different side of DoN, one that is in stark contrast to its fast-paced survival gameplay. --

Butterfly Paradise Preset Added!


It took less than one minute with the handy World Preset Editor to be surrounded by hundreds of flowers and so many butterflies fluttering around, drinking nectar :)
The purpose of adding this preset is to encourage you to create world presets of your own. It's very easy and one of the main features of the game, so go ahead, let your imagination run wild. If you're not fond of spiders for example, you can just make a world preset without them ;) --

Grappling Demystified


The game's "grappling outcome matrix" has had a lot of people befuddled so this patch adds grappling hints that tell you exactly what key(s) to press to out-grapple your opponent. --

Spider Vibrations



Some of you noted that prey were over-sensitive to vibrations. This patch decreases the vibratory output of Long Jumps and Walking for the Jumping Spider making it easier to springboard yourself onto a flower with prey and then sneak up on them to win your meal. Sneaking (Hold Control) is still an essential part of your hunting strategy. --

Multiplayer Feasibility Analysis


Visit this thread to learn more about the game's ongoing multiplayer feasibility analysis, which will be the main focus for a couple of weeks. There are numerous technical hurdles invovled so the multiplayer prototype may be deprioritized in favor of other new features. --

Bugfixes/Other notes


  • Easy is now the new default difficulty level.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in random map generation that caused player not to spawn correctly in some custom presets.
  • Renamed Temperate Forest low-end preset to "Performance Friendly" to make it more obvious.
  • Camera collision reinstated. This was previously removed to help with the camera issues, but the new camera systems in the previous patch should have sovled that. Please report if you're still having issues with the camera.
  • Camera distance to player increased for butterfly/bee to allow players to see a bit better.
  • Fixed a stamina-recharge-hunt behavior loop for A.I. that would happen when a tired A.I. spotted prey and decided to go after it.
  • Fixed a grooming bug where players could move around while grooming (introduced in a recent patch that changed the key for stopping grooming from "any key" to "Control")

Drunk On Nectar is a Nature Sandbox game about animals, plants and ecology. Multiple game-modes allow you to either play as a creature yourself, simulate ecosystems or create scenarios of your own.

DoN aims to provide the most comprehensive nature experience gaming has ever seen. To this end, the game has been built at invertebrate-scale (a micro world) for an unprecedented level of detail. Plants in DoN are not flat props but living, growing entities that flower, pollinate and propagate across seasons like real plants. Finally, each species has unique gameplay depending on its morphology.

The current release features four invertebrate species: Jumping Spider (Phidippus Regius), Butterfly (Viceroy), Dragonfly (Common Hawker) and a Bee (Solitary) along with three flowering plants: Orange Lily, Greater Knapweed, Imperata Cylindrica (Grass) and a non-flowering plant: Fern. Trees and other flora are also featured but with only limited simulation at present.

Additional species of animals, plants and ecological phenomena are planned for addition once the game's EA goals (read above) have been met. You are welcome to vote for a creature or plant you're excited about for addition in the community forums!
