It's hard to believe that it has been almost 3 years since we created the Greenlight page for Impossiball - which is when we released the game on XBox360. The game has certainly evolved quite a bit since then:
We are currently putting the finishing touches to the next update which will include achievements. You are already able to see the list of achievements on your game's page but you need to wait for the update before you can start unlocking them!
The update will also include:
- Better controller support - you will be able to play with PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Logitech, Executioner, MaxFire, and more.
- New UI graphics
- Better mouse input
- Balanced difficulty settings making the game more fun to play against the AI
- ...and more!

IMPOSSIBALL is now available to gamers on Linux/SteamOS and Mac! As well as builds for the new platforms, this latest version includes the following changes:
- You can now re-map the keys for both player 1 and player 2 via the CONTROLS page. Just click on a key and you will be prompted to assign a new key.
- Added a new video option to turn on or off "VSync" - this limits the frame rate to the refresh rate of your monitor and reduces the load on your graphics card.
- When the cursor is hidden, the mouse is now locked in position - fixing a problem discovered on Linux
- Fixed the "mouse exploit" reported by Linas W. N. Sparrow - you can no longer move the mouse up and down quickly to create an impenetrable wall

Award season is upon us and, just like the big Hollywood studios around the Oscars, we are courting your nomination in the prestigious category of:
"I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award"
What we want?
We would like you to consider nominating Impossiball in the category of "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award". If you feel the game is worthy in any other category then we will not stop you from nominating us.
Are you qualified?
Do you have a Steam account? Have you played Impossiball? Did you think it was cool? Can you read? If the answer to any of these questions is "Yes" then you are qualified.
Should you do it?
Some decisions in life are to be made solely by the individual. Others are made via a "group mentality" - based on the "sheepish" qualities of human behaviour. If you believe yourself to be a sheep then just do it. If you are most definitely not a sheep then you must make your own mind up. However, remember, if someone tells you not to think about an elephant...what do you do?
How do you do it?
Either via the Steam website or via your Steam app, find Impossiball in the Steam Store and scroll down to a button labelled "Nominate this game for an award" and click on it. Then select the award you would like to nominate us for.
How many times can you do it?
You can only nominate us once. You must definitely not create more free Steam accounts just so that you can nominate us more times.
A final word
Thanks.

We are very excited to release version 0.1. It's such a big deal that we skipped over 0.07, 0.08 and 0.09. There are two major changes in this version:
[olist]
- The game-over screen now requires you to press any button to return to the main menu. (This is especially useful if you want to rub your opponent's nose in the fact that you just utterly, utterly thrashed them.)
- Power-Ups are removed after 10 seconds if they are not picked up.
- Added instructions for Dodgeball.

Greetings!
We are currently working on a new update that will feature two BIG changes:
[olist]
[ 2016-11-17 10:50:28 CET ] [ Original post ]
In this new update we have made a few improvements:
- Fixed the AI always missing the last ball.
- When selecting "PLAY" for the first time - the input method being used is chosen as Player 1's control type. So, for example, if you click "PLAY" with the mouse then Player 1 will be set to mouse control. If you use a controller, then player 1 will be set to Controller input, and so on.
- When there is only one controller connected, if player 1 is using keys or the mouse, player 2 can now use the controller.
- Fixed the "Cockpit Camera" - camera was lagging behind.
- Changing the camera by pressing Y on the controller no longer skips over available camera views.
- The game now has "Full Controller Support" - meaning you can play the game entirely from a controller both normally and in "Big Picture" mode. There is also an official controller configuration for the Steam Controller.
- Stopped the music from "dropping out" when lots of samples are playing.

Another week, another new version of Impossiball with the following changes:
- Changed the scoring system so that only balls of your colour score points when put past your opponent. The previous system can still be played by turning on the new 'Own Goals' option before a game.
- Tweaked the AI... again... to make the CPU opponent seem a little less stupid
- DPad can now be used to navigate the menus when using a control pad
- Fixed an issue where the mouse control was lagging in game
- Left and right triggers now control the ship rotation along with the right thumbstick when using a control pad
- Added diagram for mouse contols to the controls page

(*) ...and by "life a little easier" we mean this game. Obviously.
We've just released a new version with the following changes:
- Tweaked the AI to make the game a little easier.
- When the Steam Overlay is open (via Shift+Tab or the Steam key on the Steam controller) the game is now paused (see screen-shot above).
- Removed the launch window - can now select screen resolution and quality in the Options menu

We are very pleased to announce that the Impossiball Trading Cards are now available!
Now that they're done we can turn our attention back to essential game-play improvements. The next task on 'the list' is to ensure the game works in "Big Picture" mode and can be played entirely using the Steam Controller.
Happy trading!
[ 2016-10-21 23:59:49 CET ] [ Original post ]
We could play "guess what we'll be doing next" but lets face it...we all know. We're going to play every single game in our Steam Library with the Steam Controller and see how it works!
Oh yeah, and then, after that, we will get around to making sure IMPOSSIBALL can be played entirely on the controller! ːsteamhappyː
[ 2016-10-15 17:36:46 CET ] [ Original post ]
We have been busy creating all the assets needed for Trading Cards. This includes badges, emoticons and profile images as well as the cards themselves. Above you can see an "artist's (*) impression (**)" of what the cards will look like.
(*) We say "artist" but it was actually a programmer.
(**) We say "impression" but it's more of a preview really. What he did was take cards from "Her Story" and overlay some new graphics. He didn't even bother changing the frame colour. Quite frankly it's a shoddy job.
In all fairness though, the above image is better than his first attempt:

- Added Mouse control - can now move the ship by moving the mouse and rotate it using left and right mouse buttons
- Updated the PLAY menu to allow selection of control method for both players
- You can now skip the DarkDuoGames video by hitting any key
- Improved the look of the score and removed "Player 1" and "Player 2" text - using red and blue background instead
- Tweaked the colours of the stadium floor and walls to make the balls easier to see
- Made the Power-Up text clearer
- Added "LOADING" text between Dark Duo Games logo and main game (rather than a black screen)
- Added scenery outside the stadium to avoid black bars when playing in widescreen and using the "vertical" camera
[ 2016-10-09 00:11:27 CET ] [ Original post ]
We've released our first update!
- Added a new menu option: "CONTROLS" which describes the player control options
- Added a new menu option: "INSTRUCTIONS" which explains the game rules and power-ups
- The winning player is now named on the Game Over screen
Enjoy!

We shall endeavour to respond and interact with as many of you as we can.

🎮 Full Controller Support
- Impossiball Depot Linux [184.04 M]
The aim is to score as many points as you can by getting balls past your opponent, whilst stopping as many as possible from getting past you. By rotating your ship you have fine control over the direction balls will bounce. The first player to reach the score limit wins. There is a variety of Power-Ups and 'game changers' like Magnet, Invisiball, Inversion, Shield and Impossiball to make your game easier, or your opponent's game harder.
Time-tested, classic game-play upgraded with 500 balls on screen and 3D graphics. You can try to beat the AI (with three difficulty levels) or challenge a friend.
We have drawn inspiration from Pong (of course) as well as Geometry Wars, Speedball, Break Out and Arkanoid among others.
As of version 0.1 (released on 22 November 2016), there are now two different game-modes to choose from: the classic IMPOSSIBALL as described above and the new DODGEBALL which, as its name suggests, requires you to avoid the balls as they get faster and bigger!
- OS: Ubuntu 12.04+ / SteamOS+
- Processor: Dual Core+Memory: 256 MB RAM
- Memory: 256 MB RAM
- Graphics: 512 MB+
- Storage: 128 MB available space
