Version 1.0j released !

This is only a change of version to officialize the big series of bug fixes & tuning that has been done since last September, after the release of the Enhanced Edition (ie: v1.0i). Gameplay wise, the most important bug by far was that the threat enhancement & reduction talents didn't work (abilities were ok, though). The biggest bug, but with limited gameplay consequences, was that the Bosses were always seen as 3 levels under your Party members instead of 3 levels above. I fixed that and re-tuned all Bosses so the combats are still balanced in a similar way. Also a few talents didn't work correctly or didn't match exactly their description. And some other little things like that. Enhanced Edition !

The version 1.0i has just been released, and this is another important update that brings new features and polishing to the game. This is the 8th big update since the initial release of the game on Steam, back in November 2015, and hopefully you'll agree that all these updates combined deserve the title of "Enhanced Edition" ! ːsteamhappyː

Before seeing a recap of all the improvements done, let's focus on the version 1.0i

  • v1.0b – January 2016 : added the Treasure Hunt, which is a chained series of riddles, more or less easy, designed mostly to test your memory and your observation skill, and nicely put some goal unity throughout the whole adventure
  • v1.0c – March 2016 : added a puzzle in the Level 3
  • v1.0d – July 2016 : added Soldier difficulty, which was best tuned for though dungeon crawler fans and regular tactical game players and filled the gap between the Adventurer & the Warrior difficulties, respectively for the average dungeon crawler fan and the tough tactical game player ; it also added a more complete custom difficulty that lets you define the damage and health for each type of enemy (normal, Elite, Boss)
  • v1.0e – September 2016 : added destructible barrels, food and drinks that restore health and mana when you’re outside of combat, as well as a new puzzle for the Level 2, and a few additional secrets in the first couple of levels ; this update, coupled with the puzzle added in v1.0c made a more consistent experience puzzle wise for the game ; on release, the 1st noticeable puzzle was on Level 4, which was way too far in the game for puzzle fans
  • v1.0f – December 2016 : added a tooltip when moving the cursor over the damage & healing numbers to show who did those and with what ability ; this is a close equivalent of the requested combat log, and it greatly helps you to figure out who did what and when
  • v1.0g – April 2017 : added the “Low Enemy Density” option which removes about half of the Common enemies, but not the Elites nor the Bosses ; you can enable at any time this option if you think there’s too much combat ; loot and XP will be automatically adjusted so the game plays the same. This one is a game changer for a lot of players who felt the game was too much combat based, by bringing the balance back to the exploration side, close of the average dungeon crawler game
  • v1.0h – June 2017 : added the Mini-map
  • v1.0i – July 2017 : added a Macro system to lower the repetitiveness of the combat, as well as a fully detailed explanation of each character when selecting the characters to create our party at beginning of the game, and a smoother rendering if you play with a refresh rate higher than 60hz

Version 1.0h released !

On game release, back in November 2015, someone asked if I could add a minimap to the game. I thought it was not a good idea, because it would greatly encourage the player to focus his attention on a small part of the screen while exploring. However, a few weeks ago I watched a Let's Play of Dungeon Guardians on Youtube where on several occasions the guy literally opened & closed the map after every single step he had moved. So it made me realize there are some people whose sense of direction is easily confused, even in straight alleys, and thus couldn't enjoy the game at its fullest without a minimap. And thus, here the version 1.0h of the game, with a Mini-Map ! steamhappy You can activate it from the Options -> Game Options -> Helpers menu. Taking the occasion, I also added the possibility to change your characters' name by clicking on it in their Character Sheet, as it was requested in another Let's Play video. You can enable at any time this option if you think there's too much combat ; loot and XP will be automatically adjusted so the game plays the same. So this option has the triple benefit to lower the time to beat the game, to spend less time in combat and more on exploration, and to slightly randomize the enemies you'll meet, so if you want to replay the dungeon, you won't meet the exact same set of common enemies. After the initial game release back in last November, I lowered the Adventurer difficulty to better match the average expectation of the Dungeon Crawler fans. This created an important gap with the next difficulty, named Warrior, which is more aimed to Veteran players of Tactical Combat games, and could be seen as an "Hard" mode for such kind of game. This is why I added the Soldier difficulty, which could be seen as a "Hard" mode for the Dungeon Crawler fans and a "Normal" mode for the Tactical Combat fans. Version 1.0b released, featuring the Treasure Hunt !

Hello, I finally found the time & energy to implement the Treasure Hunt within the game ! This is a chained series of riddles, more or less easy, designed mostly to test your memory and your observation skill. This hunt will bring you a new extra non-combat item, as well as alternate weapons (eg: 2H tank weapon). Its starting point is in the High Security zone of the prison at the beginning of the game. Note: it's possible to do it after have reached the last level of the game, but it might be delicate to remember everything needed to solve all the riddles. Steam Workshop Operational !

Hello, finally, the game fully supports the Steam Workshop for Dungeons & Mods. Hopefully, it’s bug free. It may require a bit of polishing, though ; I’ll see what need to be done depending of user feedback. Modding SDK Custom Portraits

Hello, in the past 10 days I still did a little bunch of bug fixes, but they were mostly for very special cases. So I had time to finally work on a new important feature : the Modding SDK, including multi-mod & incremental mod support for the game ! Hello, here a little recap of the main ameliorations done since the last news. Game Enhanced Still 48 hours left to enjoy Launch Discount

Thanks to all who have bought the game during the release. Things have been a bit rough, but now after several released patches the game is in really good shape. Here the main enhancements : - Optional Auto-pause, to give a more Turn-Based feeling - Optional loot drop highlighting, so you will never miss it anymore - Additional GUI elements to help colorblind people - Field of View Option And many, many little fixes and options to give you the most enjoyable adventure. Introduction :


The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians is an RPG Dungeon Crawler game, in First Person View, inspired by classics like Dungeon Master™ and Might & Magic®, but featuring a modern combat system based on the triptych “tank/damage dealer/healer” mechanism.

Story :


You’re a newly employed guard of a prison deep inside a dungeon. The night of your arrival, strange things happen and when you wake up in the morning, all prisoners have escaped amidst chaos. The warden wisely decides to leave the dungeon as quickly as possible, while tasking you to run after the escaping prisoners. You then assemble your team and venture into the mysterious dungeon.

A Call For Adventure :


Enter a big, massive dungeon, full of danger, mystery and secrets.
Fight your way through hordes of enemies and powerful creatures.
Explore intricate corridors, underground palaces, mines fallen into oblivion and evil crypts.
Solve puzzles, avoid deadly traps, uncover hidden passages, and keep your bearing through mazes & hallways.

Character Building :


You’ll take command of a party of 4 guardians. Each guardian comes with a set of spells & abilities, with new ones appearing over the course of the adventure.
For each new level reached, the guardians get a point to use in their talent trees, allowing them to reinforce their abilities or gain new powers.
There are 4 classes to choose from: the warrior, the healer, the mage & the rogue. Each class has 3 specializations represented by a talent tree, and each specialization comes with its own set of abilities. So you have 12 base build-ups. In addition, your guardians can choose freely to spend their talent points in any of the 3 specializations of their class, allowing for even more varied set-ups.

The dungeon is filled with loot: epic armors, legendary weapons and mystical, magical items. Often when you kill a group of enemies, they’ll drop a random piece of equipment that one of your guardians can use, raising more and more of their powers.

Evolved Combat System :


The combat is focused on the triptych “tank/damage dealer/healer” mechanism, coupled with an exciting threat mechanism: your healer’s spells directly threaten all the enemies nearby, and thus your tank must use his abilities to attract their wrath and protect the healer. The tank must then be able to mitigate a lot of the enemy damage using his defensive skills.
Your last 2 guardians will be the damage dealers, trying to kill the enemies as fast as possible, while they’re busy with the tank.
All guardians get a lot of abilities and not only will using the right one at the right moment be essential to your party’s survival, but also combining different abilities in sequence to maximize their efficiency will be required to vanquish your strongest foes.
It sounds like a lot, but fortunately the game comes with an active pause: you can pause the game whenever you feel like it, check everything, queue the next abilities for your guardians, and then resume the game.

You don’t like tanks, or you don’t like pausing the game? No problem, just lower the game difficulty, and you’ll be able to play without a real tank or pausing. You can precisely tune the difficulty at any time during your exploration.

Unlike old-school FPV Dungeon Crawlers, you don’t have to strafe-turn-strafe-turn all the time in Dungeon Guardians. Your tank comes with serious defensive skills (armor, dodge & parry) that let him handle most of the enemy attacks, as long as the healer backs him up. So most fights are done while standing your ground.
However, occasionally your whole party will have to dodge some extremely powerful enemy attacks, usually by walking back, so you’ll still need some moving reflexes and awareness of your surroundings during the fights.

Built-in Map editor & Modding :


The game comes with a full featured map editor, letting you create your own dungeons. The basics are very simple, but a bit of learning will be required to handle the more advanced puzzle mechanisms.
Additionally, with the Modding SDK, you’ll be able to fine-tune the existing enemies, classes, specializations, abilities, talents, gear, and enchantments, and with a bit of dedication you should be able to add your own, and even add sound FX or music.
