Hi everyone, First of all, I wanted to thank you for the love and support that you've shown me over the years. Every day I'm thankful and honored that I'm able to create music and games in the hopes of moving people in a positive direction. This is a dream come true for me, and I'm so moved every time someone shares that Rakuen has helped them somehow. I wanted to address something about Mr. Saitou before the game comes out tomorrow. I've seen a lot of people joking about how (based off of their experience with Rakuen) they're preparing to be "emotionally destroyed" by Mr. Saitou (or other references to lots of crying :) - While I definitely appreciate that Rakuen resonated with people, I want to make 100% sure that folks don't have the wrong impression about what kind of game Mr. Saitou is. While Mr. Saitou takes place in the same universe as Rakuen, it's meant to be playable in one sitting (around 2-3 hours as compared to 6-10), and it's more of a quirky and lighthearted game (it's *not* an emotional roller coaster spanning multiple character arcs). The game focuses on a friendship between an overworked Japanese salaryman and a goofy extroverted kid. The characters are silly, there's a lot of poking fun at corporate business culture, and some of the stupid parts make me laugh. For those who have played Rakuen, Mr. Saitou serves as a fun enhancement of that world, rather than a direct sequel. That being said, there is an underlying heavy topic and some bittersweet moments (which do cause me personally to tear up when I'm playtesting), but it's approached in a more subtle manner than the topics in Rakuen. While Rakuen is a story about accepting and understanding tragic fates, Mr. Saitou is a story about growing beyond yourself to find meaning and purpose in loving others. Despite being a short game, we put a lot of love into it. You can interact with most things, there's lots of hand-drawn portrait art, colorful pixel art & animations, and a varied musical score (from Enka to Hip Hop with a callback to a certain Sunflower through whom many of you came to know me). Mr. Saitou means a lot to me. It's kind of my love letter to the introvert world, and to my community. It's silly, with a bit of serious. And I really hope that even though it's not going to be as long or as intense as Rakuen, that it will still be a good and uplifting experience for you. New Engine Open Beta!

Hi everyone! I'm super excited to announce that we've spent the last year creating an entirely new custom-built engine (powered by Ebitengine) that will solve many of the issues inherent to RPG Maker XP while enabling us to bring Rakuen to other systems (like Switch and mobile devices) + some other goodies! The new build is now in open beta and available to anyone who owns the game!

Update Features:

• Overall improved performance
• Resizable window & borderless windowed fullscreen mode
• No more blurring of pixels when the game window is expanded--nice, crisp pixel art!
• Steam Deck compatibility (with improved controller/touchscreen support)
• Fixed the RPG Maker XP issue where clicking off the game disrupts audio-synchronized cutscenes
• Steam Achievements now compatible with Mac/Linux/Steam Deck
• On-screen lyrics subtitles for translations
• New art, character animations, and smoother graphics.
• Original build will still be accessible to those who are using older machines.

Improved Livestream Experience:

• Pixel perfect game window resizing for StreamlabsOBS (or other streaming software)
• Audio-synchronized cutscenes will no longer be interrupted by stream alerts
• Streamers can switch tabs to chat on Twitch (or other platforms) without window issues

Accessing the Beta/Reporting Bugs:

Because we want to ensure the best player experience possible, we're inviting all those who own the game to test the new engine before it's fully released. Hi everyone~! Recently I was introduced to a wonderful charity that works to improve the lives of children in hospitals all around the world. They're called GameChanger, and throughout the month of August, they're trying to raise $75,000 for children's hospitals. This event will culminate on August 29th, where friends of GameChanger (people like CaptainSparklez, Strawburry17, JeromeASF, and many more) will be streaming games that empower and bring hope to people battling illnesses (or those fighting along their side). I'm really excited to share that they'll be playing both I,Hope as well as our very own Rakuen! I'll also be joining the stream at some point, so I hope to see you there! Hello friends! Today is Rakuen's One Year Anniversary! In order to celebrate, I have a handful of fun things planned that will span the next two weeks! Localizations for the following languages are now available for Rakuen: -Chinese (Simplified) -Italian -Korean -Spanish Just right-click the game in Steam, choose "Properties" and go the "Language Tab." From here you can change to the language of your choice! A big "thank-you" to everyone who made this effort possible^^

Will Rakuen be translated into (insert language)?

Currently, Rakuen is being translated into Japanese and Portuguese. Of course, we'd love to release the game in as many languages as possible, so if you'd like to help translate Rakuen into your language, please let us know at the Translation thread, or visit the Discord server for more details!

Attention international fans: I'm excited to announce that thanks to the efforts of our wonderful fan translation teams, Rakuen has been localized into four new languages: Chinese (simplified), Italian, Korean, and Spanish! In order to bring you the best possible translations, we now humbly ask for your help... For the next two weeks, the new language versions will be available to folks who already have Rakuen in their Steam library. We're looking for a few bilingual fans to help run through the game and report any errors they find. If you're interested in participating in the beta, please read the details below:

How to get the (Chinese/Italian/Korean/Spanish) version:

Step 1: Right click Rakuen in your Steam library -> Properties -> Betas tab -> select 'test - Bugfixes will be tested here first', in the dropdown menu. Step 2: Under Properties choose the Language tab -> select the language you're testing, and then simply wait for the new Rakuen files to download!

How to Report Errors:

When you're ready to submit your errors, we'd appreciate if you compile them into a single post on the Rakuen Translation thread. We also have a Discord server where folks can discuss about the new language versions in real time under the #rakuen-chat channel.

Hi everyone! A lot of folks have been asking me about this, so... I'm super excited to finally announce that the complete Rakuen OST is now available on iTunes! Within the next 1-2 weeks, we'll be rolling it out to other online stores like Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, etc. People have also been asking me, "How can we get Rakuen more exposure?" One of the *best* ways is to leave a Steam review! So if you played the game and enjoyed it, leaving a review (even a tiny 1-sentence one) would help us a lot!
