• Optimized terrain shader settings: We've removed tessellation on medium and below settings, so this will help performance on players on medium or lower settings, and should also improve performance on Steam Deck
• Tutorial adjustment: The tutorial will now push you to the world map instead of the option of hanging around Rabbit Hill
• Steam Deck: The game will now automatically preset the visuals on Steam Deck for smooth frame rate

For Steam Deck users in particular, to get the best out of your performance in Descenders Next, we recommend doing the following: 1. Press the Quick Access menu button (3 dots on the right). 2. Scroll down to the Performance tab (Lightning Symbol) 3. In there, change the Refresh Rate to 40hz

Play with the Devs!

We're also running a Play with the Devs session tomorrow, which means you can hop into the demo and play some games with some of the team at RageSquid & No More Robots! Hey everyone! SURPRISE! We've just dropped a major update for Descenders on Steam - the Riot Tour Update! We've got a bunch of new things in this update, including a brand new tour, new cosmetics, and more! Shall we get into it? New tour: The RageSquid Riot Tour! Since we were planning on releasing an update to fix mods, we thought, why don't we just drop a brand new tour? The Riot Tour comes with a set of brand new missions, new cosmetics, and some VERY shiny rewards at the end of it... hold on, is that a new LUX bike?

Trick combos! Now you can combo your tricks easily and earn even more REP with double, triple, even quad multipliers!

Here's the full list of new content: New Tour added! The RageSquid Riot Bike Park now has new missions added:

• Routes - Finish the routes that the modders have made
• No Marker - Complete the park without setting a respawn marker
• First Person View - Complete the park using First Person camera
• Scavenger Hunt - Find all the coins throughout the park

• New gear as reward for RageSquid Riot missions: Lux Riot Bike, Siro Gear, Ovanny Gear

And alongside all the brand new content, we've fixed mods, and a few other things:

• Bike Park UI: Bike Parks are now categorised to easily find your favourite bike park
• Bike Park UI: Navigation usability fixes
• Mod.IO API updated
• Mod.IO bugfix: If no mods are loaded, refresh buttons will load them
• Grand Tour UI: Tour Selection bug fixed
• New RageSquid Riot Tour missions are also available in all languages

We launched Descenders on consoles, Game Pass, and added crossplay

We've managed to bring Descenders to pretty much every platform you can think of! This has included adding Descenders to Game Pass, 4K support on Xbox consoles, and we've even brought it to mobile! Because there are so many of you who were wanting to play with your friends on different platforms, we added crossplay between Xbox & Steam!

We've popped you a LOVELY update with some new bike parks to check out, and some new missions to grab yourself some new gear! The team have also been hard at work on some optimizations, so you folks who have been running into issues with long playtimes should be better off now!

Hey everyone! We've popped out a TINY patch for you this morning, though it's a pretty important one, so we figured we'd let you know what's new!

• Crossplay with Xbox is back! We know a fair few of you have been missing playing with your friends, so now we've put some fixes in place you can lobby back up together!
• Fixed the stuttering happening on some PCs - the team managed to hunt down the cause thanks to your reports and have fixed that right up - if you run into any more problems let us know!
• Re-added a certain shiny, glowing reward - if you know, you know! If you complete all your Grand Tour quests now, you'll get a nice surprise!

That's it! A small but mighty patch, perfect to get stuck back in over the weekend!

We're adding an entirely new section to the shed where you can make your rider your own with new skin tones, hair colours, body types and more! It's been exciting to jump into more in-depth rider customization, and we can't wait to see where it takes us! We'll also be introducing you to three new maps (console players, we heard you!). It's time for the Descenders MOD OF THE YEAR 2020 results

A VERY big thank you to everyone who uploaded mods this year - everything has been very fun to play and oh my was this a tough decision to make! First here are some honorable mentions that didn't make the cut but are very amazing in their own way:

• Leogang by BI0S0CK: It's a super realistic take on the 2017 WC DH which is extremely tough but fun to ride!
• Shift City by DogTorque: A procedural run through a city which is brutally difficult but such a technical achievement programming wise.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since our previous update but we're here again with a big one! New bikes, new physics, new tricks and so much more! We've also asked the creators of some of the most popular mods on mod.io if we could integrate their maps directly into the game, this way we can bring them to non-Steam versions of Descenders as well. Next to porting these mods over we've also made 2 original bike parks. BikeOut4, the next installment in the BikeOut series, full of new and frustrating obstacles to have a go at. And New Lexico, the successor of Mt. Rosie, a massive open world with lots of areas to explore. Console/PC Game Pass players: the content of this update will be heading your way very soon. New:

• New Bike parks. Most are popular mods from mod.io integrated directly into the game (Aloda Lakes, Descenders Island, The Sanctuary, MegaPark, Kushmuck4x, Idarkopf). BikeOut 4 and New Lexico are two new and original maps made by us in collaboration with Spe (creator of Stoker Bike Park).
• New bike types. The default Enduro bike can be changed to either a Hardtail or Downhill bike once you've obtained a sponsorship. You can change bike types in the Shed.
• New bike physics. Different bikes will have their own physics. While the hardtail is made for flippy bois with it's agile lightweight frame, the downhill bike is a sturdy, heavy and fast mean machine!
• New tricks. New tricks include the Tabletop, Superman Seatgrab, Barspin, Tailwhip and Tuck No Hander. Unfortunately to make room for these we had to say goodbye to the Candybar, we've built a memorial for it in Mt. Palumbo.
• 30+ New customization items to unlock in career mode.
• Misc: - Lots of sound effects added to BikeOut obstacles. - Ambient sound added to all bike parks. - Bowl Cam added to camera perspectives. Gives a better overview while playing in bowls and bike parks. - Game client upgraded from x86 to x64. This should reduce the memory related crashes some people are experiencing.

Hey folks, we've got two REALLY exciting things to let you know about! Firstly, DESCENDERS IS FREE TO PLAY RIGHT NOW AND THROUGH THE WEEKEND! If you've been looking for a reason to jump in and play or want to get your friends involved, now is the time! If you happen to fall in love with the trails, Descenders will be 40% off now and all weekend!
Secondly! We've noticed you all really like the mod support we added in the previous update - handcrafted trails bring a whole new dimension to Descenders. To jump in on this we decided to add a Bike Park section to the game. This section holds Rosie's handcrafted maps (which can be found on mod.io) as well as the immensely popular Stoker Bike Park by Spe. We're also happy to announce that Spe will be creating more maps much like Stoker, which we'll add directly to the game on a regular basis. As getting mods working on console proves to be very hard to do for a small team like ours we're happy to say that we will be bringing the handcrafted content in the bike park section to all console versions as well. For Xbox One/PC Game Pass players: the content of this update will be heading your way very soon. Changes:

• Bike Parks: - From the main menu, you can now enter Ride -> Bike Parks. - Stoker Bike Park has had 3 more trails added. - Bike Park levels all have seeds. This makes it so that you can play the levels in multiplayer lobbies.
• Mod of the Year unlocks: - We recently held a Mod of the Year competition. The winners (Spe, Dogtorque, Kingkrautz) have had a chance to create their own outfit+bike and see it added to the game. Congratulate them on the Descenders Discord and ask them for the key to unlock their outfit in your game.
• Misc: - Mt. Rosie map has been drastically optimized for lower-end systems. - You can now save and play replays from mod levels. - Mod of the Year sign added to Mt. Palumbo. - Bugfix: Going 100km/h sometimes caused a crash.

It's time for the steam awards again, and what a year it's been! From full release and multiplayer to twitch tournaments, this year has been a REAL ride! We've been so overwhelmed by the amount of support and amazing clips from all of you this year, it's made all the hard work worth it! We weren't sure what award to suggest, but we think we picked the best-suited one ;) You'll have to let us know if we got that wrong! We'd REALLY appreciate your vote, it's really straightforward to do!
It's been a big year for Descenders! Coming out of early access is always nerve-wracking, especially when you're launching a whole multiplayer component to it, but your support made it a breeze - we wouldn't have been able to do it without you! You not only helped us shape multiplayer, but showed us how amazing Twitch tournaments could be, and fostered a love for modding in us that led to the modding update and Mt. Rosie! IT'S HERE! The Modding Update is live for Descenders!
This is one of the biggest updates ever for Descenders, and we're so excited that it's finally ready! It includes: - Mod downloads! Boot the game up and you'll find a new MODS option, where you can download levels other people have made (and find details on uploading your own!) - Mt. Rosie! A gigantic new map to explore, 4km x 4km in size, hand-crafted for your entertainment. Take some friends out on the slopes! - Bikeout! It's the classic Wipeout game show, but on bikes! Try to survive until the end (if you can) We know we said Steam Workshop originally, but since we've been exploring options and found if we used the mod.io system then it would make a TON more sense, as it allows PC players on Steam to also play with PC gamepass folks! We're sorry to have changed plans on you, but we wanted a system that would work for everyone in the end!

Hey all, Thank you all for the amazing support you've given us since Descenders launched in May. We're here with the first real content update. The number 1 requested feature was 'I want to be able to play career with my friends' so that's exactly what we're introducing today. We've also seen that a number of people in the community have started hosting their own tournaments so we made a few improvements to spectator mode to accommodate for that a bit better as well. That's not all however, this little update comes with some new items to unlock; Discord user Kingkrautz has been making some awesome gear based on nations and we're happy to include his gear officially in the game. Redeem code: 'NATIONS' and see if your country is there. If not it might be included in a next update.
Next update? Yes, we're still working on more to bring to Descenders. We are looking into workshop support so that people can download awesome custom maps through Steam. Another thing that's in the works is this BIG environment (16 times as big as a standard terrain) with lots of exploring. Stay tuned!

• Multiplayer Career: - The 'Casual' option in the Game Modes menu has been renamed to 'Multiplayer'. The lobby now defaults to a career session but a casual session without health and unlocks is still available in the lobby settings. - Unlocks can be earned in this multiplayer mode. The rarity of the unlock is based on the average rep of all the players in the room. - When a player runs out of health they're forced to spectate until the rest of the group finds and finishes a Medic camp. This brings back the knocked out players in the following level.
• New unlocks: - Added several new items of all rarities to unlock. This includes several items created by our lovely community members over on Discord <3
• Spectate quality of life changes: - You're now able to start a lobby as a spectator. - Spectators can now see the leaderboards in the post-game screen. - Seed list games are now treated as a single session, scores no longer reset after each level.
• Misc: - Sponsor office leave team button moved so it isn't pressed accidentally as easy. - Drastically lowered the multiplayer network traffic. - Lobby browser now shows which rooms are locked or password protected. - Inactivity timer in multiplayer session down to 90 seconds from 120 seconds. - The 'Descenders' track by T&Sugah added to the pool of songs used when the shuffle option is toggled on. - Bugfix: Team can now be left using the controller/keyboard in the sponsor office. - Bugfix: Volcano environment is now accessible in multiplayer sessions. - Bugfix: No longer able to pause/leave the game during the multiplayer level start countdown.

One of the most requested features of Descenders has always been a level editor where users can build their own levels to share with friends, and thanks to the amazing efforts of Mayhem and the modding corner of the Discord, you can now build your own levels, import them and share them with others!
You'll have to get to grips with Unity and some 3D Modelling software like Blender, but the results are amazing and we're so excited to see what people start to build. A few cool looking maps are already shaping up, like this one from Chicken666!
We'd love to keep supporting modding if enough people are interested in it, so this is your invitation to get stuck in and involved! The modding section has all the details you'll need to start importing and building maps as well as some helpful advice, streams and guides to building the map of your dreams. After 15 months, and more than half a dozen major updates, Descenders is ready to leave Early Access. Thanks so much for taking this journey with us, and prepare yourselves for what the full Descenders experience has in store for you! Here's what you can expect when The Multiplayer Update drops on May 7.

8 Player Online Multiplayer

Imagine this: You boot up Descenders, into the brand new central hub (more on this below). All of a sudden, a bike goes flying by... then another... and another! When you boot up Descenders, and anytime you go back to the main lobby, your hub will be filled with other players. You can ride around with them, check out high scores, explore the outskirts of the hub, whatever you like. When you dash off into a Career session, you won't be alone either. You'll encounter random riders, playing the same seed as you in real-time. There are no collisions so you can't smash into each other, but you can race through the world and explore together.

Lobby Up With Friends

If you're not a fan of stranger danger, you can choose to start a Casual Lobby with friends. Invite your friends via Steam, and they can join up with you, and race through any of the worlds in the game. It's up to you whether you race, explore, compete for score, mess around together, see if you can line up 7 riders and jump over all of them... How you play Descenders with your friends is up to you!

Four Brand New Worlds

Was five worlds not enough for you? How about four brand new worlds you've never played before? Introducing CareerPlus Mode. When you've collected enough Rep, you'll unlock this mode which essentially gives you a whole new Career to play through, complete with four new worlds. Check out the gifs for a sneak peek. And speaking of new areas...

New Central Hub

Whenever you boot up the game or finish a run, you'll be booted into the new central hub area. It's much, much bigger than the original hub, and features a bunch of really cool areas to explore. You can still find The Shed, and your team's tent, but you'll also find other useful areas, like a giant leaderboard that updates to show your best scores.

Loads of Other Stuff

New music! New options! New sounds! New items! New bikes! New achievements! Play as a man or woman! New everything! Hey all, It's been a while since you've heard from us so we're here with a tiny Christmas special! This special is a small update with a winter themed overworld and several winter themed unlockables. With this small update we'd also like to tell you our plans for Descenders next year. The full launch is getting closer each day and we wouldn't be RageSquid if we weren't planning to go out with a bang. We're not spoiling everything but here are some BIG things:

• At the moment we're working very hard on the multiplayer and several modes that come with that. It may not be a surprise but playing Descenders with a group of friends is a blast!
  
• Rosie has also been working hard on several new environments which will also come with the full launch in some form. Some of these are really tough so if you want to nail these down you better get practicing.
  

Release wise it's too soon for us to set a date but you can expect an Q1 - early Q2 full release. Don't worry though, we WILL do some multiplayer testing in between! EXCITING. Happy Halloween! Something we've been asked non-stop since the Early Access launch is if we could implement more tricks. Well, today is the day! We've worked on the animation system so that it can now handle tricks like No Handers, Supermans, Can Can, and others. While we were working on the animation system we updated bails and the character collision at the same time. Falling off your bike has never looked better. For Xbox One players this update also includes the previous Steam update. (Replay system, Volcano Bonus level, and a new batch of unlockable items) Changes:

• Tricks: - Holding Left Shoulder Button (or C on keyboard) and point the Right Stick (Arrow keys on keyboard) to one of the 8 directions will trigger one of the new tricks. Tricks only work while in-air.
• New Bonus level: - We've added a 5th bonus level. Each of the environments now has their own bonus level. It's the perfect place to play around with the new trick system, go find it!
• New unlocks: - Added several new items of all rarities to unlock. This includes some special Halloween items.
• Misc: -Character now has collision. Try not to bump your head on the Firewatched jump. -Bail system improved. -Advanced replay options (Steam only). Hit Start/Escape during a replay and enable the advanced settings from there. This enables keyframe and camera path controls. -Keybindings menu updated. -Several sound effects updated/added. -Shuffle music option. Currently the game has different music for each environment. Enabling the shuffle option in the audio settings mixes everything up. -Build crew persons added to the build crew selection/game over/loading screens. -Sponsor office leave team button moved so it isn't pressed accidentally as easy. -Bugfix (Xbox): Flow and Best Time leaderboards should work again. -Bugfix (Xbox): Friends/Global distinction on leaderboards fixed. -Bugfix (Xbox): Mph/Kmh distinction now added to the bonus objectives. -Bugfix (Xbox): On-screen keyboard doesn't cut off popups anymore.

Hey everyone! We're back with another update! Being able to record and play replays has been a much requested feature right from the start of Early Access and we're now happy to say that we've added this to Descenders. We've seen some amazing stunt compilation videos and gifs already but this should definitely help creators push their flair to the next level, we can't wait to see what you all manage to create with the replay tool. Let's get into the list of changes. Important note for Xbox One players: This update is currently in the hands of the porting studio and will be available to you in approximately one month from now. When we launch the update on Xbox One it will also include the content of the next update, which we're currently working on. Somewhere this week there will be an update on Xbox One -- that's to fix the bug some people had with the broken sponsor office. Changes:

• Replay Mode: - In the post-game screen you can now choose to save a replay of that particular run. - Recorded replays can be accessed by going to 'Extras->Replays' in the main menu. - Replay mode features time controls, camera controls, and different interface options. Experiment with them and please let us know if you feel something is missing.
• New Bonus level: - 3 out of the 5 current environments have had a bonus level added in the past. This update introduces a 4th! See if you can find it, it's definitely no child's play.
• New unlocks: - Added several new items of all rarities to unlock.
• Misc:
• Forest boss jump checkpoint placement improved.
• Forest boss jump ring of fire moved slightly.
• UI for selecting build crew re-worked, preparing it for the addition of characters.
• Several sound effects added and tweaked.
• Moved the 'leave team' button in the sponsor office so it isn't pressed accidentally as easily.
• Advanced Tutorial and Key Redeem options moved to the 'Extras' menu in the main menu.
• Bugfix: audio dropping when braking at high speed fixed.

Hey everyone! How are you finding the Ring of Fire Update? Managed to reach Volcano yet? We've been hard at work on a bunch of new stuff for the game, and while some of it needs a little more time in the oven before it's ready (expect *another* massive update next month), we have some special stuff for you coming next week -- September 18th to be precise.

The Replay Update, Coming September 18th

When we first envisioned Descenders, we wanted players to have the tools to record and compile their own cool videos of their runs. With this new update, those tools are finally here. From next week, you'll be able to save any replay at the end of a run, then go fiddle with it to your heart's content. Via the in-game Replay Browser, you'll be able to: - Play back your replays - Apply slow-mo, fast forward - Move the camera anywhere you want - Remove the UI for cleaner shots - In-game photo mode We can't wait to see the clips and photos that you lot have to share! Oh, and maybe there's a whole new secret bonus level to find in the game. Just imaginate...

Descenders Community Day

Hey everyone! It's time to turn up the heat! Introducing 'Volcano' as Descenders' new 5th environment! Getting there will be no easy task but once you're there it will take your breath away... or your health... that's up to you. Apart from the new environment we've made lots of other changes so let's get right to it. Important note for Xbox One players: This update also includes everything that was introduced in last month's Steam update, patch notes for this can be found here. This includes the teams rework, daily challenges, and a rework to the way bonus objectives are generated, among other good stuff. Check it out. Changes:

• Volcano: - A new 5th environment, a completely different challenge, and unlocked by playing the game in a very specific way - the only hint we'll give is that it involves fiery rings of fire. ;) - Volcano drops the 'stunts' parameter when generating a level and uses 'tectonics' instead. Hold on tight, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.
• New Bonus level: - You've probably found the bonus levels we placed in highlands and peaks. This update introduces a MEGA interesting new one, see if you can find it.
• New Freeride options: - People have been asking us to introduce the build crew to the freeride mode of Descenders, so that's what we did. - When setting up freeride parameters you can now go to a little menu with a dropdown list showing all of the build crew modifiers. note: you need to have used each specific build crew member at least once in a regular session before you're able to use that one in freeride. - We've split off the 'generate level from seed' and bonus levels and have given both their own place in the freeride menu. - Bonus levels can now be played from the freeride menu, instead of having to enter it's level seed. note: you need to complete a bonus level's objective before you unlock it for play in freeride.
• New unlocks: - Added several new items of all rarities to unlock.
• Misc: -Fire nodes are added to the world map, these are levels with their generation parameters maxed out to full intensity. -Changed a few keybindings that used the D-pad on controllers. They now have a modifier key to make sure that menus are still navigable by D-pad. -Daily sponsor tasks now auto-claim after you've completed them. -Daily sponsor tasks can be seen in the pause menu while in a session. -Added 3 new achievements. -Newsfeed now auto scrolls to next news story over time. -Upgraded the item unlock screen so that it now shows you a 3D preview of what you've gotten. -Greek translation added. -A couple of new bike particles have been added. -Pausing the game now fully pauses time as well. -(Steam only) Level seed history is now saved to a text file, you can find this file next to the game's executable. -Bugfix: leaderboard UI can now handle different alphabets and characters. -Bugfix: flashlight going off on the first night level fixed. -Bugfix: fixed a couple of small bonus-objective related issues. -Bugfix (Xbox One): leaderboard now fetches 10 items instead of 9. -Bugfix (Xbox One): flow leaderboard fixed. -Bugfix (Xbox One): friends/global leaderboard distinction fixed. -Bugfix (Linux): sponsor office no longer gives an empty screen when your computer is set to a different language other than English.

Known issues

• (Xbox One) After completing the Volcano boss you should be able to play it in Freeride mode, a bug currently prevents the unlock. This will be fixed in a hotfix soon.
• Braking at high speeds kills the sound effects.
• No-path levels have a chance of generating bonus objectives that are very hard or impossible to complete.

Hey everyone! Are you ready for the hottest update in Descenders history? By now, lots of you have managed to whip, jump and scrub your way through Highlands, Forest, Canyon and Peaks, and are now looking for an extra challenge. That's where the Ring of Fire Update comes in. Here's what to expect on August 7th:

Volcano

With this new update comes a brand new world. Volcano is the 5th Descenders world, and it's, well... it's a bit tricky. Volcano drops the "stunts" parameter, and instead introduces "tectonics", making for a rather bumpy ride. Oh, and there's lava everywhere, in case you hadn't guessed. The Volcano world is based around the Pacific Ring of Fire area, where earthquakes and volcanic activity are prevalent -- but the Ring of Fire name also doubles up as a hint about how to reach Volcano. See, you can't just enter Volcano by beating Peaks. There are special requirements to complete during a run, and if those requirements are met, Volcano will open up to you. Just keep an eye out for those Rings of Fire, and maybe you'll figure it out :)

A New Secret Bonus Level

By now you may have discovered a couple of special bonus levels in Descenders -- one hiding in Highlands, and one hiding in Peaks. With this latest update, a third secret bonus level has been added. What is it? Where can you find it? Oi, stop asking questions! We're pretty sure you're going to be mega fans of it, though.

New Freeride Options

You guys are always asking for new options to be added to the Freeride sandbox mode, and we are always happy to deliver. The latest edition to Freeride Mode allows you to pick the crew members you'd like to take into a level, so you can crank your character up and take on some seriously extreme slopes with slightly less chance of death. Note the use of the word "slightly".

New kits, bikes, all that jazz

As per usual, with this new update comes new unlockables to, well, unlock. You'll find a host of new items that can be equipped to your bike and rider. And that's about it! Hey everyone! It's update time! We've overhauled the way teams/sponsorships worked, added a daily challenge mode, daily quests, and more! The road to sponsorship and the way you progress once sponsored has been changed. Therefore we've reset everyone's team. Your unlocks and Rep will not be taken away. It's a big one so let's get right into the changes. Changes:

• Teams rework: - Obtaining a team no longer happens when reaching 1000 rep. Instead you'll have to complete 3 sponsor nodes on the world map instead before you get an offer. - Sponsor nodes now give you a choice; you'll be able to start up an Arboreal, Enemy, or Kinetic track, regardless of which team you're in. - Once sponsored you'll be able to complete daily sponsor tasks. These are refilled back up to 3 once per 24 hours. Completing sponsor tasks progresses you in your team, unlocking sponsor gear along the way. - We've added the much requested option to leave your team! When leaving your team your sponsor progress will be reset to zero. Your Rep will not be reset, and your unlocks will not be taken away, but if you obtain a Kinetic sponsorship you won't be able to wear your Enemy gear, until you switch back to Enemy.
• Daily Challenge: - In the Ride menu, you'll now find the Daily Challenge option. This starts up a regular session, except that you only get one chance per day. - The seed for this session is the same for all players and changes every day. - Scores for the Daily Challenge are stored on a separate leaderboard and are viewable in the Standings menu.
• Bonus objectives rework: - A common complaint was that bonus objectives often weren't doable on your current track. Our intention was that players could choose their next track based on the bonus objective they were given. In practice this didn't work very well so we shuffled some things around. The bonus objective will now be generated during track generation, it will randomly pick an objective from a pool of objectives that you're certainly able to complete on the current track.
• New bonus level. By now you've probably found the construction site in Highlands, can you find the new one as well? This one features a new type of objective as well.
• Session markers in freeride mode. Pressing 'T' or 'LeftStick' will plop down a marker in freeride levels, you can then respawn from there whenever you like.
• Mixer plugin updates. Should fix performance problems.
• Level generation build crew (all the yellow ones) are now included in level seeds. The old seeds will still work.
• Switched a few keybindings around on controller. Check the keybindings menu for new bindings for: toggle UI, skip song, and reset camera angle.
• Diminishing returns applied to stunts. Doing the same thing over and over will now award less Rep.
• Initial game loading sequence sped up.
• New team items added (by completing sponsor cards once sponsored).
• New generic unlocks added to the random item pool.
• Speedrun timer now in milliseconds.
• Stoppie nerfed, Fakie buffed, Stoppies & Wheelies now have diminishing returns applied.
• Construction site now has a separate finish line, so you are not forced to complete the objective.

Update platforms: The update has been pushed live on Windows and Mac. Linux will be pushed live later today, or tomorrow at the latest. Xbox players will receive this update, combined with the next update, next month. This is due to the complicated and time costly nature of porting and updating on console. Hey everyone! The next Descenders is coming to Steam in less than 2 weeks (note that the next Xbox update will be next month, and encompass two PC updates in one). Here are some of the features you can expect:

Teams Rework

Up to now, the team you pick doesn't make a great deal of difference to how you play the game. With the next update, there will be daily objectives to complete that will be team-specific, and will earn you additional Rep and special team gear.

New Secret Level

By now you've probably found the Construction Yard in Highlands. With the next update, there will also be a brand new, secret level to find hidden somewhere else. What will it be? Where will it be? You'll have to wait for the update to find out, but all we'll say for now is -- it's quite different to anything you've played in Descenders before...

Daily Challenge

The next update will finally introduce the Daily Challenge to Descenders. Every day, every player will be given the same set of levels, and you'll have just one run to get the biggest Session Rep score that you can. There will be daily leaderboards for every Daily Challenge, so you can track how well you're doing each day compared to everyone else.

Session Markers in Freeride Mode

You asked for Session Markers in Freeride Mode, so here they come. You'll be able to plop down a marker on a level, and then restart from that position whenever you like.

Bonus Objectives Rework

Right now, you are told your Bonus Objective on the world map, and have to pick a level that matches what you are required to do. However, we've found this sytem is a little confusing, especially for new players. With the new update, the Bonus Objective will be automatically generated based on the level you pick, and will always be completable. This update is coming in the next couple of weeks -- we'll let you know when!

Hey everyone! The Rogue-Bike update is here! We've revamped most of the existing systems (rep system, world map) and we're introducing a big new feature: the build crew. Let's dive into the changes right away: Changes:

• World Map overhaul: - Randomized start/finish line and level placement. - Added more special nodes to the map. (Medic, First person, Danger zone, and more??) - Day/night cycle. A new environment starts in the morning and playing a level advances the day. Reach the end of the world map before you run out of daylight.
• Rep system overhaul: - Rep can no longer be lost. The risk of losing reputation made end-game players play very safe, this wasn't very fun to watch. In order to see more sick tricks we're introducing: - Flow (rep per minute). Flow is the reputation one earns per minute, making sure that the players who are on top of the flow leaderboards are actually the most entertaining to watch as they constantly have to do the sickest stunts. - New sessions start at 0 rep, the goal is to reach the end of the last environment with as much rep as possible. Session rep is added to your account rep after each session. Leaderboards will track 'best session rep', 'flow' (only on successfully completed runs), and 'overall account rep'. - Diminishing returns. Doing the same trick over and over will reward fewer rep each time.
• Build crew: - Build crew is a way to customize and tweak a session to the players liking. - At certain rep milestones during a session new crew members will be unlocked. The player will have to choose one out of four randomly generated crew members (modifiers). Crew members last until the end of a session and a fresh session starts with 0 crew members. - Crew members can be: wider paths when generating levels, higher bunny hops, decrease in off-road friction, generate fewer obstacles, always show the compass, and many others. Right now we've implemented 22 different build crew members and there are more to come! If you have ideas for other crew members, let us know!
• Removed the 'Practice' option when starting a new session. Practice session was a way to ride without consequences but after removing reputation losses this no longer feels needed.
• Removed dawn and night random visual modifiers. Storm can still randomly occur. Dusk now appears after having played 7 levels in the same environment. Night appears 2 levels after dusk. Completing a boss jump and entering a new environment resets the day timer.
• Mixer integration. Allows for interaction between viewers and streamers on the Mixer streaming platform.
• Speedrun timer. Enable in the gameplay settings to show a speedrun timer during your sessions. This timer ONLY pauses during loading screens.
• Added and tweaked a bunch of sound effects.
• Added a few new outfits, bikes, and accessories.
• Updated to a newer version of the Unity engine. This should improve the experience on lower end computers and macs.
• Performance upgrades across the board. We had to do a ton of performance upgrades when working on the Xbox version of Descenders. We took the ones that were applicable to PC/Mac/Linux and carried those over to the Steam version of Descenders.
• Updated the Steam plugin. This fixes the bug where some players have no leaderboards.
• Bugfix: pressing 'equip now' in the game over screen now actually equips the newly unlocked items.

Reputation reset With the new rep system and the new leaderboards we're resetting everyone's reputation. Based on your current rep we've handed out a few legacy items. Everyone who scored at least 1 reputation has received an accessory item. If you obtained 50.000 rep you've received another legacy item. And if you managed to obtain an impressive 250.000 rep you've gotten a third item on top of that. Hey everyone! We're here today to give you some pretty exciting news. A couple of months ago, the RageSquid team came up with a massive idea for Descenders that would make the game even more exciting and fulfilling, while fixing some of the issues people were having with the roguelike elements and the Rep system. And now we're finally ready to unveil what we're calling The Rogue-Bike Update -- and it's coming on May 15th. Here's what you can expect:

The New World Map

Currently, you play through the Career Mode world by world, and move from left to right on the world map. Other than picking what the new level will roughly contain in terms of steepness, stunts and curves, there isn't much to it. Until now. With the Rogue-Bike Update, you'll now be tasked with exploring a randomized world map, filled with special nodes to discover. Your goal is still to reach the boss jump and clear it to move on to the next world, but you might want to ride around a little first and see what the world has to offer... But don't ride around for *too* long. If you spend too much time exploring, the sun will begin to set, and you'll be plunged into darkness, making completing the boss jump a whole lot trickier.

The New Rep System

The current Rep system is fine, but we've found that it stops the best players from wanting to take risks. All this will change with the Rogue-Bike Update. From May 15th, each new run that you do will set your Session Rep back to zero, and you'll only earn Rep, rather than losing it. You'll also now be judged based on your Flow -- that is, your Rep per minute. In other words, the better you ride and the more tricks you do, the better your Flow. And when you finish a Session, your Session Rep will be added to your Total Rep. Easy!

Crew Members

Right now, once you've unlocked Canyon or Peaks, you might as well keep restarting from those worlds to reach the final boss. With the Rogue-Bike Update, we introduce Crew Members, who give you a reason to start from Highlands each time. Every time you earn a certain amount of Rep on a run, you'll unlock a new Crew Member. These Crew Members will give you special mutators, such as softening all your landing impacts, or adding extra steepness or stunts to every level. These mutators allow you to play the game your own way, and pick the abilities that matter to you. You can, of course, still start runs from later worlds, but you won't earn as many mutators that way.

But what about my current Rep?

On May 15th, we will reset all Rep scores. However, we will be giving special items to each and every Descenders player based on how much Rep they've earned before then:

• If you've bought and played the game before May 15th, you'll earn a legacy item to show that you played before the Rogue-Bike Update
• If you've earned more than 50,000 Rep by May 15th, you'll also earn an extra special legacy item
• If you've earned more than 250,000 Rep by May 15th, you'll earn both of these items, and an extra, extra special legacy item

Hey everyone! We know you've been enjoying Descenders, but we also know you've been wishing for something a little more... uphill. We've been experimenting with new ways to play Descenders, and we've come up with something we're sure is a great way to reach new heights! We hope you like our new game, Ascenders! You can play for free right now! To play you'll need to be on Windows, go to Descenders properties in your Steam library, go to the BETAS tab, enter "AscendersTheGame" as the password, and click CHECK CODE. You can now select Ascenders in the dropdown menu. Be careful whlie you're enjoying this new game, because Rep is carried over to your regular Descenders progress. Unfortunately some of these effects weren't properly categorized so the volume sliders had no effect on them. Because this is quite intrusive we wanted to get this hotfixed instead of waiting for a next bigger update, so here we are! In addition to the sfx fixes we are happy to announce that we've partnered up with German mountain biker and youtuber Fabio Schäfer. His brand of gear, #SCRAPE, is now unlockable! #SCRAPE gear is the first brand we're collaborating with this is something we want to do more often, so tell your favourite youtuber/biker to get in touch with us and we'll try to work something out to get their brand in the game! Changes:

• Added #SCRAPE gear by Fabio Schäfer to the gear pool.
• #SCRAPE items include 3 new goggles, 2 long sleeve jerseys, 1 short sleeve jersey. The items are of uncommon, rare, and extraordinary rarities.
• Bugfix: categorized sound effects so that volume sliders affect them.
• Minor CPU performance improvement.

Mixer integration The idea was to enable Mixer integration in this hotfix but after we publicly tested it in yesterday's stream we decided that it's too easy to abuse it in its current state. We'd like some more time to tweak it to make sure that it's solid. We'll release this when we get back from event season that's starting next week (PAX/EGX Rezzed). Hey all! We're back again with a small update! We've heard your feedback on the rep system and world map and we agree with you, they really need some work. We're super eager to rework these things but that's going to be a big project. Before we can start on a major overhaul like this we wanted to get a few smaller things out of the way. One of the things in this update is the newsfeed. This way we can communicate more information to you without having to upload new builds. This is also a place where we can highlight community clips and images. Apart from this we did a lot of small fixes and updates, which I'll list below. Changes:

• Added multiple UI sound effects.
• Added new character voice sounds and removed the temporary voice effects from the rider (goodbye Cedar!).
• Added a newsfeed in the main menu. This is where we'll place information about the game, its updates, and community highlights.
• Physics raycasting update, this new method for wheel collision is about 16x faster and should even be more precise as well.
• [strike]Mixer integration. Streamers who stream on Mixer.com can now enable interactivity in the gameplay options menu. In career and practice mode the viewers can influence level generation and hand out extra reputation when the streamer performs sweet tricks. In freeride mode the viewers can submit level seeds for the streamer to play.[/strike] We've had to disable this because of issues while building the executable. Expect this in a hotfix some time next week.
• Added a few more unlockable items ;)
• GPU performance improvements across the board. We mainly tried to pull the FPS in the forest environment more in line with the rest of the environments.
• Big CPU performance upgrades, should be most notable for people with low end CPUs.
• Bugfix: removed bonus objective UI from freeride mode.
• Bugfix: UI buttons would sometimes randomly scale up.
• Bugfix: Button navigation in game modes menu fixed.
• Bugfix: Couple of localization errors fixed.
• Bugfix: 1460 is now 1440 lol

Next up: As stated above we are super hyped to start working on the new world map and the new reputation system. We want to move away from a percentage based penalty system and towards a system which rewards taking risks and doing sick moves, rather than spending as much time as possible grinding levels in a safe manner. While we're working on this we're definitely going to keep you up to date through our social channels and on Discord. Do keep in mind that this next update could take a month or two, this is quite a big undertaking for the small team that we are. Hey everyone! Unfortunately the previous update (Freeride mode update) shipped with a couple of bugs. Today we're pushing a small hotfix to resolve these issues. Please keep your feedback coming so we know about these bugs and we can keep fixing them as soon as possible! Changes:

• Freeride levels can now be quit without having to stop riding. You can now also respawn while riding when you have health set to infinite.
• In Freeride mode, trying to select environments the player hasn't unlocked yet will now trigger a popup explaining why. The same goes for trying to select the Boss Jump physical modifier.
• Level seed now always shows on the bottom right of the screen in the post-game UI.
• Bugfix: Freeride UI labels now localize properly when selecting non-latin languages.
• Bugfix: achievements are no longer triggered in Freeride/Practice modes.
• Bugfix: post-game UI health bug fixed (1 HP bug).
• Bugfix: rep now properly displays after a Freeride level.
• Bugfix: Golden Run, Made it, and True Descender achievements now trigger again.

Known issues:

• macOS stability is a big problem, crashes occur more frequent than on other platforms and framerates are lower than we want them to be. We're aware of this and currently looking into getting external help to fix these problems.
• Steam leaderboards bug. Some players have no entry on the leaderboards and we're having a hard time reproducing the bug but we're still well aware of the bug and working on it.
• General performance levels are not yet where we want them to be. We're constantly looking at ways to improve this.

Hey everyone! Another week, another update! It's been 3 weeks since we launched and it's been one hell of a ride so far. We're overwhelmed with your love and feedback and we're changing the course of the game to make sure we can implement the things you want to see. As an example of this we're introducing the 'Freeride' mode in today's patch! In this much requested mode you're able to generate levels by setting the variables that are used in the generation process, as seen in the above screenshot. Another highly requested feature we're adding today is the ability to load up a level by its generation seed. If you see a level you like, write down the seed (seen in bottom right corner of the pause menu) and play it again in the Freeride mode. You can also share this seed with others so that they're able to play the exact same level! Changes:

• Added Freeride mode. In this mode you can generate a level to your liking, play with or without health, and rep changes will not be saved.
• Added the option to load a level from a generation seed! This means you can screencap or write down the seed when you see a level you like and replay it at a later time, or share it with others. The seed for the level you're playing can be found in the bottom right of the pause menu.
• Added the option to immediately equip an item when you unlock it.
• Added a new t-shirt of Extraordinary quality, created by the Foodz company.
• Added a shirt for people who participated in the beta back in October 2017. Codes for this item will be going out by e-mail.
• Bugfix: updated a few grammar mistakes in translations.
• Bugfix: team nodes are now correctly named when hovering over them in the world map.
• Bugfix: fixed 2 wrongly labelled songs.
• macOS/Linux: applied the hotfix that was rolled out last week on Windows. This contains fixes for a world map bug (game booted up in an empty world map), and it adds a few missing keybinds in the key rebinding menu.

Known issues:

Hey everyone! We've seen your bug reports and we're here with the first batch of fixes. I'll list the changes in this build and I'll quickly go over what we're working on next! Please keep the bug reports coming, send all your crash logs and output logs to lex@ragesquid.com so we can have a look at what's going on and fix it! Changes:

• Added Portuguese and Estonian translations.
• Added dirt bumps to Highlands for more interesting off-road action.
• Added the option to rebind keyboard controls.
• Added the option to report broken level generations while playing. Seeing a flying tent, a tree on the track, or anything weird going on in the level? Let us know!
• Added a link to the Liquicity (OST) youtube channel in the Community menu.
• Added a 'Golden Run' achievement. Obtained by finishing a complete run without bailing.
• Most definitely did NOT add new redeemable codes.
• Made tweaks to particles and to the forest environment, may result in minor performance gain.
• Anti-exploit: made sure a level can't be farmed by alt+f4'ing out of a bail.
• Anti-exploit: disabled nodes behind the player on the world map so you can only move forward, to prevent Rep farming.
• Bugfix: fixed a serialization issue when resuming a session after a crash/alt+f4.
• Bugfix: removed Rep bonus when finishing a practice run.
• Bugfix: updated a few grammar mistakes in translations.
• Bugfix: fixed tents & cars floating in the air.

Currently working on:

• Performance (high priority).
• Crashes/stability (high priority).
• Steam leaderboards bug.
• A different way of implementing the Rep system (will update you when we know more about this).
• An alternative to practice mode. Possibly allowing the player to play with all variables (health/stunts/modifiers/steepness/etc).
• Tools for speedrunning.

The reception on launch has been overwhelming, it's great to see so many of you picking up the bike <3 The first bug reports are rolling in and after a few days of catching our breath from the hectic launch period it's time for us to get fixing. We've pushed a minor update today, the first of many updates to come. What these future updates will hold and what Descenders will look like during and after Early Access is entirely up to you, join the discussion on our Discord and tell us what you'd like to see! Here's what you'll get as part of the Test Sessions:

• We'll be giving you full access to Highlands, the introductory world in Descenders, where you can explore as much as you like for an entire weekend, and maybe discover its many secrets
• You'll get a taste of how the character and bike customization feels in Descenders, with plenty of unlockables that you'll be able to kit yourself out with
• There'll be online rankings to climb, and plenty of special events going on over the weekend
