Festive Holiday Update


In light of the holiday season, we have decided to add a few festive aspects to the survival horror game Hegis Grasp: Evil Resurrected! Not only will they be found in the survival mode of the game, but in the boss rush and story mode as well. Just like we set up to celebrate the Halloween season, we are celebrating the Christmas season!

The best part of this set up is that this wont be a one time set up, In fact, we have set it up that every year on the first of October and the first of December, the perspective festive build will be updated for players to enjoy every year! Whether you are playing through Hegis Grasp: Evil Resurrected for the first time or the tenth, you can expect these updates to be consistent each October and December of every year moving forward.

Final Patch and Update

After a long road and constant work, we here at Odd Branch are proud to say that we have fully completed the Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected horror game on Steam! The final patch has been uploaded and all of your versions should be updated to the final version of the game. Here's all that the final version will entail:

- New clarifying voice lines from Henry on parts many considered confusing
- A reoccurring Halloween and Christmas theme that will update into the game during the holiday seasons
- Minor Bug Fixes

Now the main question is: can you expect anything new to come from Odd Branch for Hegis' Grasp? The answer is "Yes!"

New Trailer, DLC, and Patch

Even after patching the game up quite a bit a couple weeks ago, we have found some new issues to tackle. Along with this we created a new trailer and launched a new Boss Rush mode DLC! The DLC also includes a unique, powerful melee weapon that players will be able to use during any mode in the game once they have unlocked it.

While we did fix a few things, you will notice that we also added a Halloween theme to help players celebrate the holiday while they make their way through the cursed lands in, and around, Hegis. Even if you have already completed the game, this new theme will give some spooky additions and slightly comical outfits to some well-known characters and moments.

The patch itself fixed the following:

- Door Kicking Open Glitch; the unnatural interaction between AI and doors
- The End Credits Glitch; the inability to close the credits once they have opened and the game freezing moment once the game ends and the credits roll
- Graphical Improvements regarding the Water and Fog

Game Patch and Future Plans Released


We noticed a few aspects of Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected started to act up after we updated the game with the finished game patch. We are happy to announce that not only did we fix the multiple bugs, but we also improved a few aspects of concern as well. The improvement patch includes:

- AI and creature bug fixes
- Deer animation improved greatly
- Spider enemy size increased
- Butterfly size decreased
- Missing voice lines added
- Minor typo fixes

This patch should bring Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected to the best version yet and we hope there aren't many more bugs or issues for the remaining players. Moving forward, we have a few plans above just fixing the game as you all find more bugs. The first thing we will be releasing is a new DLC!

v.2.0 Released: Hegis’ Grasp Is Officially Complete!


After originally launching our survival horror game on Steam back in October of 2017, many changes and updates have been going in to make sure the best experience we have to offer is what players will get. As promised in the July Devlog update, we took a two month pause from consistent announcements and updates to finish the game, which includes a lot of bug patching, full story mode completed, both endings, updated cutscenes, and so much more.

Officially titled Hegis’ Grasp: Evil Resurrected, the best version and full experience we have to offer with our very first horror title is now available on Steam! For all those who already own the game, you will find that you are due for an update. We were hoping to also have a brand new trailer up before the update, but this has proven to falter as we have ran into a few issues. There is going to be another announcement in October that will detail our plans with mobile, Boss Rush mode, and the new trailer.

Hegis’ Grasp Gets A New Look


As many of you are looking forward to the next update for Hegis’ Grasp with the full game set to release, which I’ll include a brief update below, we wanted to show you the brand new look for the game! This brand new banner shows the added subtitle “Evil Resurrected” and will be replacing the game image on Steam.

As for that promised brief update on what to expect on September 27th, we have been focusing mainly on the following:


  • Completing Chapter 6
  • Animations
  • Controls
  • Replacing All Placeholders and improving previous chapters
  • Improving and Adding Voice Acting
  • Notes will be Collectible

Linux Patch is LIVE!

After our last update, we started getting comments and complaints from our Linux players that the game wouldn't start up. It didn't take long after looking into the issue to find the critical error causing this problem. This problem has now been fixed and updated so that all our players can enjoy Hegis' Grasp as it currently is.

If you are still having issues with the game for any reason, be sure to let us know in the comments!

Remember, we will have a massive finalization update coming in September along with a new trailer and Devlog to celebrate and inform our fans as this game reaches its most important milestone!

July's Update - Chapter 5 and Massive Bug Patch

For July's update we are proud to announce the addition of Chapter 5 and a massive amount of bugs squashed! Unfortunately, your saves will once again be deleted however.

Over the next two months we will be focused on finalizing Hegis' Grasp. That means no Devlog or update in August, the full Six chapter-Two ending game completed, and the complete experience that Hegis' Grasp truly brings. We will also be redoing the entire save system, which means one final save reset for the price of a sturdy, bug free save system to go with our almost bug free game!

Now let’s get into the main updates for July:

- Chapter 5 added
- Loading should be faster
- Massive Amounts of Bugs squashed
- Voice Acting was redone
- Lines added for various sections, including cutscenes
- Cutscenes improved and new ones added

New Patch - Fixing and Improving

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the update to the save system, your current save files will be cleared upon the new versions initial load up. Any new save will be safe, but unfortunately we have to wipe the old save files.

In our last Devlog we mentioned that we hired a new developer in order to get the progress for Hegis’ Grasp flowing at a quicker pace. Our goal is to give our players a completed game with few to no bugs and an enjoyable gameplay experience. While we believe that there will need to be some major changes to the save system and overall combat, we have started with a focus on the aspects of bug patching and necessary updates.

v1.1: CHAPTER 4 OUT FOR WINDOWS

The anticipated Chapter IV Update is finally out for windows, MacOS and Linux will follow shortly!

This update is by far the largest update this game has ever had and we can finally consider Hegis' Grasp as a finished game. But by no means does this mean that we'll stop updating it, expect great feature updates and the remaining two chapters to come in the near future.

NEW FEATURES:


  • CHAPTER IV: 'Dark Times in Hegis'
    You finally reach the core of Hegis. Explore the village and find what happened to Jacob and Ltd Miller.
  • Damage Indicator: Observe your dealt damage in real time!




Fixes and Improvements:

  • Greatly improved precision of melee weapons
  • Fixed inventory items not working after loading a CP
  • Fixed first person mode not working after loading a CP
  • Settings will now be saved consistently
  • Improved examining in the first person mode
  • Improved darkness at nighttime
  • Reduced hit speed of melee weapons
  • Pickup hint is now visible in survival mode
  • Money bags are no longer saved

Patch v1.0.0 + Info regarding Publisher

You've probably noticed that there weren't any updates for a while. That was due to the fact that the previous publisher (Global Hive) had to abandon the game in favor of their future plans. There was also an overhaul on the developer's side in which Salty Goal Productions was disbanded and acquired by our newly formed start-up which is Odd Branch Publishing.



Anyways, here's a giant patch which takes care of most of the issues you guys have reported. Expect the chapter 4 update soon!

  • Minimap was added to the Journal menu (press Tab or "m" to view)
  • Ability to delete saved checkpoints in the main menu
  • Enemies should now be saved correctly
  • Replaced the old objectives by a new immersive story telling system
  • Crows can be shot dead now


Tweaks:

  • First person has less head bobbing and a more accurate speed
  • Tincture potions now restore more health
  • Small: before: 15%, now 25%
  • Large: before 40%, now 60%
  • Revised notes
  • Increased damage and accuracy of the rifle
  • Improved slow mo blur
  • Pause menu is much more fluent and efficient now
  • Story mode now loads in the background while the cinematic intro is playing
  • Experience the bear trap falling animation in first person

Massive v0.7 Update is finally out! SURVIVAL MODE

Changes:


  • Survival ModeAdded a whole new experience to the game.
    Survive waves upon waves of enraged enemies and earn huge amount of Zruk coins to be able to afford items from the Cutthroat shop.
    Includes 3 maps, each one with different settings, difficulties and enemy/weapon types:
    - Hometown
    - Dark 'n' Dead
    - Undead Sanctum



  • Added a whole new Henry Monologue Intro at the start of the campaign.
  • As wished by many, the option to inverse mouse-look controls has been added to the options menu.
  • Optimized camera angles in the introduction cutscene
  • Completely new enemy type: Growther Wolf
  • New improved path-finding for enemies (They no longer get stuck on objects)

  • Improved sky quality: added Clouds and Stars* (night time only)
  • The day and night transition is now more gradual
  • Improved gameplay elements in the campaign
  • Fixed game-breaking bugs at the chapter 3 final boss (Watch out for the loot chest that spawns after killing the boss!)
  • Fixed other issues that may've occurred when saving and loading checkpoints
  • Fixed the broken stairs which hindered the entrance to the chapter 2 church

    v0.6.5: Huge bug fix patch out now!

    Thanks for all the feedback, issue reports and suggestions everyone! Here's the first public patch that should fix all of the major issues the game had. The next update is going to be big!

    Feel free to suggest features or report any other issues you notice

    Changelog:


    • Fixed a key in Chapter 3 which wasn't interactable sometimes

    • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from equipping certain melee weapons after loading an old checkpoint.

    • Your ammunition will now be saved correctly

    • The pop-up you get when picking up an item is now much smaller

    • Opening the E-Book DLC from the main menu no longer freezes the game

    • The game now gives you a few hints upon the beginning of the story mode.

    • Improved hit detection for some enemies

    • Fixed player standing up in a weird way after dying and loading a checkpoint

    • Improved damage, speed and distance of a few weapons, mainly melee

    • The "Growther" enemy now needs more time to revive

    • Wolves now have slightly glowing eyes in the dark

    • Minor adjustments to the environment

    • Fixed an issue that caused the screen to go gray sometimes when low on health

    Public Launch on Friday the 13th!

    Greetings,

    Just wanted to let you know that after lots of play testing and quality control by Valve (yes, Steam actually has quality control now!) we now officially have the permission to release Hegis' Grasp!

    Therefore we have set the public release date to be....wait for it....

    Friday the 13th 2017!

    Alongside the game, we're also releasing The Written Story DLC, which contains a professionally written Novelette of the game's entire story in the form of an E-Book + an additional ending, which isn't in the game.

    Public Release - Details

    Hello everyone,

    I'm the lead developer of Hegis' Grasp and my goal with this announcement is to give you an overview of what will await you in the upcoming and first public release build of this game.
    First of all, Hegis' Grasp is going to be released in an early access state upon launch. That's due to the fact that the last 3 chapters are still in development. Meanwhile we're releasing the following chapters for you in the first version of the game:


    • Chapter 1: Chilling Past
    • Chapter 2: The Face of Death
    • Chapter 3: The Ruined Truth


    The final three chapters, alongside the "Survival" and "Boss Rush" Modes and lots and lots of tweaks and fixes to the gameplay will be added with the regular updates that are going to be released following the public launch.
    We'll be fully open to suggestions once the game is out.



    The release date will also be announced soon, so keep a close watch for that!
