Fifth Year Anniversary - Final Updates
This week marks the fifth year since The Caribbean Sail began development. It's hard to even find the words the describe how I feel... maybe I shouldn't have fired my thesaurus out of a cannon.
This update is late but after contracting and recovering from multiple sicknesses, the worst storm of last year, breaking my elbow and temporarily losing function in my right hand- here's what I've got for you! + Slightly better controller support + New bottle messages + New tavern conversationalists + The Portuguese Navy + Dimmer in settings to stop burning your delicate little eyes at night + Steamship furnace now accepts less than 25kg of food + Trade tax event when excessive amounts of luxuries are sold + Steamships that are dead in the water will have the option to "Wait" for a passing ship now + Should anyone make it to Shanghai on a raft as the missionary immediately after starting a new game, your efforts will be acknowledged. - Game crashing bugs obliterated - Repeat dialogue from conversationalists will be prevented - Name duplication bug FINALLY fixed (You should no longer have the stowaway event) /Probably more that I've forgotten to log
The physical release Kickstarter was a success and a few copies will be available after all the backer rewards have shipped! Keep up with the bi-weekly progress reports here! Development will soon end so do your best bug hunting and report anything you find so we can ensure that this game sails into the sunset proudly.
On the penultimate day of 2021 the 10,000th Caribbean sale was made! I'll have to make myself an award to gloat with at all the people who never tour my studio. The end of this voyage is in sight. I doubt I could ever make such a groundbreaking game again, but that doesn't mean I won't try. TCS_Tophat Fair winds to you all lads! - Your Captain, Evan

Be the Captain of your own ship in the 1700's and make decisions that will determine your fate. Control everything from food rationing to amputating limbs. Sail for the British Navy or rebel and become a pirate. The lives of your crew are in your gout ridden hands.
Gameplay Overview
Name your crew, choose your profession, purchase a ship, stock up on supplies, and then set sail at the mercy of the wind. You'll encounter pirates, storms, disease, starvation, and death more as you sail 4,341 miles of open ocean.Survive the voyage and arrive in Nassau to have your captain's name uploaded to the leaderboard! If you fail and die horribly, you may leave behind a message in a bottle that you'll find as a marker on your next voyages.
Each vessel matches the speed of it's real life counterpart which will give you an accurate depiction of how difficult and tedious a journey across the ocean was in the age of sail. You could enjoy a casual experience on a Frigate as you fly across the waves and decimate pirates in a War Galleon like a rich ponce- or -Suffer a HARDCORE challenge on the Raft and struggle to feed your men daily while your vessel crawls along so slowly you'll BEG the wind to pick up.
