Tips for Getting High Scores

R-COIL is a hard game, but it’s not as impossible nor random as it might seem at first. Here are a few tips to help you enter the Hall of Champions. Learn to Fly - Spend some time getting a feel for moving around efficiently. Each shot will push you backwards, but don’t let that trick you into flying around backwards as fast as you can! Hold the fire button a bit every so often to thrust and counter the recoil effects. Move fast enough to be a moving target, but not fast enough to get out of control. Stay calm. Practice. Choose Your Weapons - Not all power-ups are created equal. Learn what they do and which ones you like the best. If one that you want is getting away, shooting it once or twice will slow it down and buy you time to collect it. If one that you don’t like drops, shooting it three times will destroy it and spawn a replacement. Use this to get what you want.

Power-ups can now be shot and destroyed.
- Destroying the last power-up on the screen will drop a new random power-up. Don't like what dropped? Shoot it. But don't shoot the good stuff!

Player projectiles are now 15% larger.
Better weapon randomizer for duel mode.

The Story

A malfunction with your experimental R-COIL engine has torn a hole in reality and you have fallen through it. You find yourself under attack by a horde of unfamiliar and hostile creatures. Your main thruster and weapons systems have been fused and your stabilizer is offline; you cannot fire your weapons without moving. Will you find your way home, or will you die trying?

The Game

R-COIL is an old-fashioned multi-directional shooter with a unique single button control scheme. Use the stick to aim and a single button to fire and thrust. Tap to fire. Hold to thrust. Each time you fire your bullet will push you back a little. You’ll have to balance shooting and thrusting to maintain control. Once you master it you’ll be cruising through the cosmos like a space boss in no time. Just try not to get yourself killed.

Easy right? Wrong! This is not the friendly part of space and whatever you run into isn’t going to be happy to see you. There are shielded sharpshooting saucers, bullet spewing spinners, laser towers, and kamikaze buzz-saws to name a few. In fact, if it’s not a rock, you’re probably going to have to try to kill it before it kills you.
