We are continuing to improve The Pirate: Plague of the Dead. With this update we wanted to tweak the sandbox mechanics of the game. As you know, you may conquer the ports you discover during story missions or by exploring the open world. But it’s not permanent - enemy nation usually tries to get it back by sending the military fleets. We don’t want to get rid of this feature, but we’ve changed it a little bit. If you build (or upgrade) the fort to a level 6, the nation who previously ruled the port will now be scared and won’t send a military fleet anymore. What this means is that the port becomes yours - permanently. Of course, upgrading forts will cost you some gold, so we have also added an option to permanently capture ports, even if you don’t upgrade the fort to level 6. To do this you will have to capture and control all ports of the given nation at the same time, which includes defending them. If you do that, all towns ruled by that nation are yours, forever. We suggest to start with small nations like Dutch or Denmark, invest some gold in buildings and production and when your pirate empire starts to grow, then take out the other larger nations.
