UPDATE #8 - THE GAME IS OUT!


Hi, everyone!

We're glad to announce Light Apprentice is now fully released on Steam!


It was a really tough journey, but we hope Nate, Tlob and the rest of the crew will now be able to reach more hearts than ever before. The market is really crowded with so many great games coming out per day, but hey, Steam is still a really big deal!!
We're proud to have made it so far, but please bear in mind it's only the start. Meaning there's plenty of room on this bandwagon! Though we're itching to jump into the production of Volume 2, we think it best to stay on a hold for a little while and give support to the new Volume 1 players who might have any issues during their experience. The game is finished, we tested it thoroughly, but unexpected effects may still happen, plus small bugs and glitches are to be expected even in big productions. We want to give a big shoutout to the amazing community who has supported us, including the dozens of streamers and lets players, who tagged along for the journey since Light Apprentice popped up on Early access in March this year. You're amazutastic!!! Without your help, we wouldn't have made it this far!
But Light Apprentice hopes to become much stronger with your support. Please, take a moment to share the news that Light Apprentice is out to your friends in real life, on social media, and keep an eye for some really exciting news from us just around the corner. UPDATE #7 - Contest rules update + ends tomorrow!


Hi, everyone! We're making the rules of the content more obvious and clear to everyone! Since the game is practically finished now, we have received messages saying there are practically not many bugs to be found, so the main rule of the contest (how to win) takes on a different meaning. Since before the rules said the "most useful bug report wins", we're now changing it to "you need to play the game from start to finish this week", and comment on the forum you want to participate in the contest -> http://steamcommunity.com/app/569570/discussions/0/1483235412200423826/ Also, we have extended the deadline til tomorrow, since so many of you only heard about this contest so late (our fault! We been busy). Much simpler eh? We'll look into your steam profile to see how many hours you played this week to see if you're eligible to the prize, which will be decided by random. Let me know if you have any questions. A new build version has been uploaded in the BETA branch (right click the game in the library, select properties, go to the beta tab and select beta in the drop down menu), which means you should try on the new features: - Buff icon countdown was implemented, now you can check how long you have until the buff lasts (the only one missing now is Stunned, coming in an update) - Buffs continue from challenge to challenge in Quest mode. Now Quests are more dynamic and strategic! - General bug fixes Thank you all for reporting bugs and other problems to us! There are still a very few improvements that will come in an update. The first thing that pops to the eyes is the new Quests map. Now you can navigate through the world and play around on your favorite locations of Ethenia. Nate will be there to guide you, or rather to be thrown around by you! Try it out and let us know what you think. Here are some pics of the development of this feature -- Nate at his best.

We also squished so many bugs! Thank you everyone who contributed with suggestions and pointing them out. We love Early Access for that. And with your help, we want to squish the last ones before the final release. Its very important that you help us at this stage, so please write us on the forums or privately if you find anything.

The graphics were improved in basically every scene and Quest since the first launch on Early Access and the game starts to differ quite a bit from its mobile version now, so you should really check it out if you havent. Youll probably have a much different impression!

Hi, everyone! Here's the first update of Light Apprentice!

Update notes


- Fixed the bug in which your potions would not be saved after a challenge (battle) - Rebalancing and new levels of difficulty: Normal and Hard (the previous only level has become the Easy one). We hope you'll enjoy each of them! - Mouse wheel/up on controller to scroll up, in case you missed any immediate comic part(s) - Adventure mode cursor easier to navigate with controller - Sometimes he game would break later on your second save. Not anymore - Various bug fixes and graphic improvements in chapters 2, 3 and 4

Early Access


We like Early Access because it allows us to develop with the community. Thanks to you, we were able to i.e. identify the biggest bug on the list (potions not being saved if you die in a challenge), and I hope it will make it better for you. We also made the Quests button more obvious, so you'll hopefully click there and understand that's where you can get more potions if you run out of them. There was much more fixed, but I'm trying to keep it short :)

With that being said, I have heard a few of you and feel obliged to tell you that there is still no auto save or save wherever you want feature, and there probably won't be one. The current save system is a design choice, and until we are able to change the core system of the game (it would take a lot of time and resources and would extrapolate out budget and time frame), it can't be changed. But we can insert more checkpoints if it would make it better. We would like to hear what you think on this, so we know how to best address the problem (and if it really is a problem, most importantly). Regardless, I'd like to say a big thank you to the community for the support so far, with your fanarts, your screenshots, comments, and specially for sharing it with your friends. Light Apprentice is a love project and it has come a long way, and we surely appreciate you for welcoming the game on Steam so warmly.

However, it's been very difficult to choose which of these will be the final seven cards in the deck, and I need you to help me define them! And Light Apprentice is out on Early Access!

We’re proud to announce that Light Apprentice is finally up on Early Access!
It’s been quite a ride for us developing this game. Now I can finally invite you to be a part of it: as the game is on Early Access, it is crucial that the community help us shape the game towards the future. This is only Volume 1 of 3, so you should expect many great things still to come. The next patch is already submitted to the Beta branch. It features three levels of difficulty and we need testers (you can do that from the Steam client, right-clicking the game and choose ‘Properties’, click on ‘Betas’ tab, and choose the Beta branch from the dropdown menu). This one was going to be the Day-1 patch I mentioned in the forum, but I realized it will take a bit more time to finish this one. We need you to see if the difficulties Easy Normal and Hard are representative of the expectation. The patch has also a scrolling feature with the mouse wheel, up on controller or the up arrow on keyboard, and it allows you to go back to a panel in the story that you missed by mistake or you just want to go back to appreciate it, something normal in comic books. But since the chapters are split into scenes, you can only scroll up to the beginning of the scene. Other than that, I’d like to ask to as many of you to take a minute and review Light Apprentice here on Steam, as it is really important for the game in this early stage. Q: The iOS and Android versions are free. Why is the Steam version not free? A: The Steam version is equivalent to the iOS HD version, which is the same price. You can play it on your HD TV and it will look splendid (one can't say the same about the SD version, which by the way has chapter 1 free but the other chapters are paid). Aside from the HD graphics, the Steam version has added features (full controller support, three save slots). Plus -- if you don't know, developers need to pay bills and recoup development costs, so please consider purchasing the game to support us bringing you more content.
