Campground Update + 30% Off Sale Soon?

The campground update is out now. (Steam should update it automatically?) Here was the trailer for it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNdxFg0_rPY Sorry for the wait, kept thinking it was done but kept needing to redo and change some things which would sometimes break other things, it's a problem. Tried to make different things fancier like the AI and pathfinding but almost nothing was really working right so just reverted everything to the old way which was fine. The evil chickens act a little goofy now though. Also figured out how to do sales? So there should be one here soon for 30% off which should last a bit (Assuming it works -.-) Anyway, attempted something different with this region, some of the main issues were that stuff was kind of hard to find, intelligence gating, stamina/HP running out and some things were overly-complex. So here stuff respawns, no intelligence gating (there's only a couple gated things), stuff is pretty straight forward like the crystal caves aren't maze-like at all. This is a good region to go if you need to fill up your stamina and health too. And everything is revealed (except the areas) in the menu. This is to show that it's different from the other regions, it's supposed to be the refresher region. (Though there are some things to find and collect.) Comment below or something if you thought this was a nice region to sort of refresh in. Again it's probably not as extravagant as the other regions but shouldn't be as complex and got the important stuff in so that's good. Also did something different with one of the new creatures, the turtle. You can't kill the turtles and they just sort of wander around, sometimes not seeing where they are going. Originally had it so you could ride them but it kept causing problems, you would get permanently stuck to them when they turned.

  • 1 New Cosmetic
  • 1 New Animal Friend
  • 2 New Den Decorations
  • 1 New Trophy
  • 4 New Creatures
  • 5 New Foods
  • New Region: Green Peak Campgrounds
  • New Area: Crystal Caves
And are you tough enough to enter the Salty Spitoon?
Might remove or change this later. -.-
Changed a bunch of textures, for example the mud texture in Arni Forest:
Made the Gorge and Lake more colorful. Updated the Shadow Pig model, it looks cooler now. The birds stay the same though. The all around terribleness of the birds is their charm:
Changed the night sound for Arni Forest so it's calmer. Adjusted the lighting more to make things brighter. Steam Updates: Wanted to update one of the icons. Will probably increase the number of regions +1 on the store page or maybe just include it as a separate point?
Was trying to add stuff for Youtube people, some examples:

Plus wanted to add a minecart with diamonds in it in the crystal caves for this person, Maybe some books for this person and his fans, and a copy of a Goof Troop cartridge for the Game Grumps as some ideas. But was having trouble figuring out things to do for everyone along with deciding who should be put in, not wanting to play favorites, etc. Basically it was too difficult to try and include everyone while keeping things even so came up with this idea as a replacement:
Leave a comment or message others you want to see on the wall. (And preferably give an image to use.) They probably should have played before this update though. Not sure how many will be able to be put up so this might be a temporary thing. Also might need to readjust the placement and sizes so they're not final.
Kept redoing stuff and cut out a few things, most of which was pretty unnecessary. Here's a few behind the scenes things: First of all there were a few cows that wandered around but that would take the mystery out of you know so left them out. There was also a quest that involved oranges:
It involved animal markings mostly but it was kind of dumb and overly complicated so just took it out. The oranges are still there though. The secret area was supposed to have something bigger than whats there:
But it was just confusing and added nothing except to make the story more complicated so kept it out. There was also a few things with the warehouse that was toned down for the same reason.
  • Forgot to add colliders for rain in the Campground so rain will go right through roofs and stuff, not a terrible problem.
  • Campground creatures might have too much HP, could probably lower them.
  • Again the Evil Chickens have AI/Pathfinding issues. They act odd, like they will face away from you and attack.
  • Also tried again to fix the shadow shimmering again, see if that worked.
Was going to add this to the cave under the bear goals but thought it was too dumb:
What's a good way to tell people that pressing the number 5 will help unstick you if you get stuck? Add it to the store page?
  • Fixed the Coast mushroom spawning on top of the KS Island teleport mushroom.
  • Fixed the cups having a stone texture. (and made them red.)
  • Made the beds recover percentages of HP/Stamina again. If you want to fully fill your stamina/HP either upgrade your bed or go to the Campground now.
  • Fixed the Pirate skin not being selectable.

  • Might be glitches. Tested it a bunch though so maybe not? Am aware of the pathfinding problems with creatures in the Campground though -.- Everything else should be back to the same way they were but there might have been leftover bugs. The new Shadow Pigs might have problems.
  • There's probably other small things changed not listed on here.
  • Didn't really add many Easter eggs or hide stupid things on the textures this time (there's a few though.)
  • There is no fast travel shroom for the Campgrounds, there's a purpose for that.
  • There aren't any animal markings, was doing something with stealing a fish from the warehouse. They weren't terribly popular?
  • Couldn't put this on sales like midweek madness or stuff like that, pretty sure you need to be invited to that.
  • May adjust, remove and change things so some stuff might be temporary.
Again this region should be casual and pretty straight forward (though there is a few secrets to find). All in all it should be refreshing and an easy way to build up your stamina and health (and bear points). You can't go there at night right off though, you need to figure out a way to remove the darkness first. (Then do one more thing.) This was kind of wordy, was building up a bunch of stuff. Might be spelling errors. Rewrote this like 20 times -.- Again there should be a 30% off sale here. Hope you like this update :O P.S. Finally got the hang of this Steam announcement thing. Except there's a few spacing problems -.- P.S.S. Did no one get this reference with the pirate skin?:

Campgrounds + Questions

Have the campground region prepared (think it's good to go, tested it a bunch but there may be unforeseen problems) here's a trailer I put together for it, think it turned out neat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNdxFg0_rPY (It also says it's "out now." but it isn't yet. This is supposed to be a trailer for when it actually releases.) Should this be released with a sale? There was a few that wanted that and it might be a good time? Not entirely sure how to go about it though and what kind of discount should it be? Need to figure that out or just no to a sale? (Steam stuff is kind of complicated -.-) Comment if you have any ideas? Anyway, updated the page for it on the website: Greenpeak Campgrounds And here are some screenshots:

It has the campground region, crystal caves area and other things which you might find neat. This region is a little different from the others. It's also not quite as extravagant but maybe you'll think otherwise? Will make a bigger update with when the update releases, this is just more like another teaser, a questions thing. Couldn't do the PATRIOT base though, it was too big/complicated of an idea and couldn't do it correctly. Rather have it remain a mystery than something disappointing. And the chickens act a little odd, probably not too big of a deal. Was having quite a few programming problems too -.- Here's a behind the scenes blog post: Link Yes this update is a little bland, having some problems -.- Not entirely sure when this will release, trying to figure out stuff and may go back to spruce it up.

Bear Simulator: Behind the Scenes Stuff and Cut Things

Hi, first of all watch the people from Penny Arcade play this bear game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvcAKh07CGk It was funny seeing them trying to figure out things and what's going on. Like their comic so it's as exciting as when the Game Grumps played this bear game. Wasn't sure if they liked it or not though. Anyways, still working on the campground dlc. Here's some behind the scenes stuff in the mean time:
Arni Forest went through a ton of revisions, it had a vacation house where you would have found a kitchen (with food), some storyline stuff (the humans there left behind some messages) and a bird animal buddy (which eventually became DJ Raven):
(The pink color means the texture is missing) There was also a hedge maze that was cut too:

Originally Bear Points were used as a gating system. At first you'd need a specific amount of bear points to travel to new regions. There would be “Barriers” blocking you from certain regions, kind of like “Note Doors” in Banjo Kazooie:
Things got shifted around a bunch and intelligence blocked food was used as a barrier system so you couldn't just travel around without building your stats up first. Bear points were originally used instead of Intelligence for food gating. Intelligence had a different role, it was used to interact with the environment more. For example there was locked doors you couldn't open and books you'd need to read to gain new abilities and items like so:
You'd need to read a book and collect items to make a cat bed instead of just finding it. Plus there were other books for things.
That mystery shed went through a bunch of revisions. The main, original plan was it contained another key (inception sound here):
This would have given you special access to Kickstarter Island which was planned to be an exclusive region. Changed this when people messaged wanting their friends and favorite Youtube people to see their island submissions without needing the secret code. Plus wasn't sure if it should have been an exclusive thing or not or what people were expecting, didn't know how to go about it really, kept overthinking it. Next idea was to have a switch that would spawn frogs everywhere in Arni Forest:
You would have to kill them all and be rewarded with something.
Was reading this comic called Hunter x Hunter but it went on hiatus just when it was getting good. Maybe when I finish the campground dlc thing it will come back just like it came back when finishing this bear game. (?!?!) Will probably be updating some of the terrible animal models for the campground update (like the pig). But the ducks will keep their terrible models, grown fond of them. You should watch this show called the Carbonaro Effect, it's pretty entertaining. It's not on Netflix though:
Also have been playing Pokemon Go.

Bear Simulator Campground Update: Neat Things

Ok so the campground update will feature a strange Russian guitar called a Balalaika. Why? Because of this guy. He liked this bear game and had his fans send nice emails which was nice so put this balalaika in game as a thank you. It was a popular request among his fans, had no idea what it was though at the time.
You may be able to collect this and play it in your den. Also added some other things for other youtube people:
It's the Game Grumps and Markipiler Yay Also want to add something for this guy too, he had a fun playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5m4T5KpXZ8 Not sure what though.

Game Update (Fixes, additions, and upgrades) + Campground Preview (New Cosmetic!)

Ok there's a new game update out, it contains fixes, updates and added stuff.
Some things might not be fixed 100%.

  • Fixed the bug with the Web Orb Door.
  • Fixed the bug with the evil mushroom.
  • Fixed the Fade in/out layer not stretching at higher resolutions.
  • Fixed a ton of spelling errors. (Forgot to change the marking where Dan Mole refers to himself as Mole Dan though, next update >.>)
  • Added colliders to a bunch of things that was missing them.
  • MAYBE fixed the shadow and texture flickering. MAYBE.

  • Made hitboxes bigger on all creatures. (Made pathfinding worse though)
  • Fancied up a ton of textures.
  • Made the Unstick button work waaaaaaaaaay better so if you get stuck all you have to do is press 5 and it will unstick you. (Don't abuse this to get places where you aren't supposed to pls)
  • Hella adjusted the lighting in each region. Made the mountain night brighter, toned down the brightness at the beach, etc. etc.
  • Readjusted everything at the ocean plus added more things.
  • Added a lot more invisible walls to prevent people from getting where they weren't supposed to.

Added a Return to Den button. Click it to return to your den no matter where you are.
Added fast travel shrooms in your den. When you visit a region a new mushroom will pop up in your den.
Added some references to the upcoming Campground update. Added a sponge to be found under the sea (..Kuplinov.. -.-)
Tried to make the graphics better but it cause an extreme performance drop, then tried to revert it but it still left a bunch of performance problems. There might be a fps drop for some. Probably introduced a ton of programming bugs after trying to reorganize the scripts. As stated before the animal pathfinding is probably worse with the bigger hitboxes, hopefully it's worth it.
People are inquiring about this symbol:
For a hint check the door in the cave. Also it isn't the symbol of the evil chickens. Also movie recommendation, people should watch this movie called Legend.
It's friggen weird and Tom Cruise has long hair in it plus there's unicorns and a weird evil guy played by Tim Curry. Directed by the same guy who did Alien! Also here's another teaser trailer: https://youtu.be/b4X9T2pJUVo

  • Making night time a little brighter, couldn't make a slider for it, was glitch-tastic.
  • Fix a bug with the spooky mushroom.
  • Fix a bug with the door in the cave.
Campground Preview: Here's another preview of the campground update:
The door has opened!? (Figured out how to post images) :O This update will be linked with other stuff.

Campgrounds Teaser + Kickstarter Island Update

Here's a trailer for the Campground update: https://youtu.be/YRhChDYcniM This will have story stuff, a new region and Crystal Caves, not sure how long it will take to finish. And here's part one of a "Making of": Making of a region: Part 1 There was also a game update that includes Kickstarter Island along with these things:

  • Spelling error fixes (probably missing some still)
  • Bigger hitboxes on some animals
  • Placed barriers where you get get outside of the map
  • Increased time before ducks would disappear into the void. Easily the most important part of this update, really makes the game playable.
Working on:
  • Getting Stuck solution: Will probably make a button that pops you up.
  • The Steam Overlay problem
  • Bug fixes
  • Probably maps: They will probably be a reference available on the game site.
  • Other Things
Not sure how to post images on these updates so it's just boring text >.>

Update #1

Here are the fixes in this update:

  • Updated Textures
  • Inverted Mouse Option added to the main menu
  • Took out intelligence barrier from foods in the forest
  • Added some instructions/goals in den
  • Increased Tree Distance so there's less popping
  • Fixed a bug where you could get outside of the coast region
Might be a loss of fps and performance due to some changes here. Trying to work on programming bugs and other things.

  • Bear Simulator Linux [3.06 G]
A game where you live life through the eyes of a bear. Eat things, go on an adventure and discover things about your forest home.

  • Explore 7 different regions from the regular forest, to the mountain top or maybe take a long walk on the beach. But don't go to the Spooky Woods, none have braved that task and came out with their sanity intact.
  • Fight against an array of villainous creatures that dare try to stop your bear way of life, from the horrible bunny rabbit to the dreadful frog.
  • Find things to eat like bugs, mushrooms, plants or various bits of food left by humans. All of which increase your bear stats: Strength, Dive and Intelligence to name a few.
  • Collect cosmetics like hats, find curious things to decorate your den, discover strange and confusing bear beds. All very realistic bear behavior.
  • Discover secrets but keep them secret ya hear?!
  • View your bear through the Bear Face Cam. With it you can display your hats!
  • Read the markings left by other animals after upgrading your nose.
