Android Release
You can now play Chess Cubed anywhere! Cross-platform play has come to the Android platform. Download Chess Cubed from the Play Store.
New mode
Survival mode has been added. When this mode is selected HP will not regenerate.
Balance updates
Knight movement cost has been updated to reflect a better cost to mobility balance. This balance update supports the movement sequence pictured below at a cost of 2 energy.
Just imagine the possibilities...

Music is now customizable in settings. You can choose the song that play for When you are Tied, Winning or Losing.
Contextual Highlights
Pieces now have colored Highlights for various states of game play Green - This piece has an available move. Yellow - This piece is encroaching on your king. Red - This piece is checking your king. Blue - This piece (yours) is attacking the enemy king.
Finally, Night mode is now an option in the lower drawer menu. The other drawers are less 'twitchy' and the minimap stays until you close it. Next up: Trial Mode.(puzzles and etc) Achievements. Oh, and Android users will be joining you by this Friday.... yup. See you around! - AFG

You can now select the region you'd like to play in! The default was U.S.A - East coast but now most major Regions are provided. Try it out Europe!
Also - Night Mode is in!
To Toggle NightMode, Hold Left Control + T.
This might change in the future but that's it for now!

In tradition Chess the 3rd row is empty but in Chess Cubed the is a formation option that allows some extra pawns to be placed there.
Question:
What other arrangements would you like?
Are you against formations where pieces are spawned below the Cube?
Are you open to formations that introduce extra Rooks, Knights, and Bishops?
This is all optional of course but we'd like to get your feedback. Thanks in advance!

The Drawer Tab on the lower right has a Toggle called Environment. Use it to change stages. The Space Stage is for Night and Dark places. Hope it helps Lukas and co!
Later on, the stage will have asteroids and planets rotating around the cube.
We released this earlier for the contrast in brightness the stage provides.

Edit: Poll Here We've had quite a few people ask about the status of the game so I thought I'd clear some things up: 1 - We planned on launching when the AI was finished(close but not done). 2 - Integrate a mode where people could play each-other for money. 3 - Change up some of the games inner-workings and matchmaking menus. The game is quite playable and already has local and online mode with replays. The Question is: Would you all be willing to play the game in its current state? It would be about a month early but I guess this is what Early Access is for right? I don't know how to do a poll but if someone made a poll, or enough people respond to this announcement, then I will launch the game next week. That sound good?

The in game menu tray now has bgm and sfx options among other things.
We feel that the games 3d enviroments are alot more immersive due to players moving around the camera to see the game. Loading times have been improved as well.

Game menus have been revamped and should be visible in the trailer along with some more insight to the games mechanics. Hope it was worth the wait! Who wants to be a mod? Looking for people to help out in the forums for when the game launches.(which is soon)

First - what is a Solver Behaviour?
Think of it as a silent observer that watches your game with an intent to modify the cube to a Pattern it desires. In between turns, The solver will rotate the cube so long as neither player are in check/mate.This is optional. Don't freak out!
Here are the 2 we have so far:
Normal
this solver is self explanatory. The solver will rotate the cube on the shortest path to a completely solved cube.
Undo
Similar to Normal except this Solver solves the cube by Undoing all moves made by players! A subtle but important difference.
Checkered and Stripe patterns are next but first we'll see how these do for now! Once again, these are optional. Don't freak out!

We've got an overhaul of the UI in the works. It should give the game a much better feel. The widgets in the game screen are gone and moved to a tab that can be pulled out anytime during gameplay.
Again, sorry for the delay. Early Access is supposed to be where some of this stuff is tested but we feel that some more elements should be refined before we release. The AI integration is going great as well so hopefully we will be launching soon!
